Just in time for winter is this 1963 Jaguar 3.8 liter Automatic Sedan Project that I am helping a  cousin get off his plate.  He purchased it 3 years ago from a local friend who had it stored inside his shop for his 8 years of ownership.  My cousin does not have a title for it but believes there should not be a problem to get paper for it   The engine and drivetrain were removed for pending rework but it does not look as that was ever accomplished though I am not positive of that.  The front seats are not there although a poor substitute set is available. The  backseat is there though in sad shape.   There are also extra parts (glass, chrome,, etc,) pictured that were originally included in his deal that will also be given to the successful bidder.  Sedan seems pretty solid and original spare tire may even be there !  The car has been on the same trailer at his property for those 3 years and transported to my rural home in the original purchased condition.  Tires are poor and even though it should be able to roll off its trailer to your transport trailer but that's about it.  I am located  midway between Rochester and Buffalo NY.  It is being sold as is where is.   Please ask any questions you may have and, if necessary,  I will  be glad to set up a time for anyone to see it before the auction ends.  A 10% deposit is required within 48 hrs. of auction closing and complete payment within 10 days,  Reserve is very reasonable and will allow you money leftover to finish this classic.  Buyer responsible for any vehicle transportation ( trailer it is on is not roadworthy and not for sale ).  Good Luck All and Happy Bidding,

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

Why Ask Questions When You Already Know The Answer?
"Is it fast?"
We get that question a lot. Several times a month, in fact, and it comes from every corner of our lives - friends, family, complete strangers and even colleagues from time to time. And it's an understandable query. After all, speed, either in a straight line or around a twisty bit of tarmac, is a universally accepted line of demarcation between the typical family sedan and something much more fun and therefore desirable.

Jaguar envisions future without V8 engines

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures - it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s."
In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions. One of the first steps Jaguar could take is to shift away from the use of superchargers, which aren't as good as turbochargers at maintaining efficiency and making power. But he adds that supercharging still is "at the heart of Jaguar's performance proposition," and that the company has addressed the current downsizing trend by "replacing our naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6."
Consider one of de Ploey's comments on the cancelled C-X75 supercar (pictured) for some clue about Jaguar's future: "Some of the stuff we have already exploited to the extreme in the C-X75 is the kind of thinking for us and is an essential test bed to see how we could evolve from today to something that is sustainable in the future."
