Tires are better than 50%. Has new batteries. transmission has less than 5,000 miles on it. It does have a few issues, there is some rust around the rear windows that i have attached pictures of, the A/C does not work, the driver windshield is cracked and a couple of power window switches need to be replaced. The CTIS pump will need to be replaced if it is switched back to H1 wheels and you would want to use the CTIS option. There is wear and tear that would be normal for a 1997 vehicle."

Up for sale is my 1997 Hummer H1 with 89,365 actual miles.  It is in good mechanical condition but does have a few minor or cosmetic issues that I will do my best to describe and take pictures of.  I have enjoyed owning this vehicle for the last 10 years and have enjoyed it very much.  It is a very capable vehicle that will go almost anywhere making it the perfect weekend toy.  It includes a few extras such as, a military style snorkel, custom made roof rack with off road lights, and upgraded H2 aluminum wheels (also included are the factory H1 steel wheels with run flats and a set of good year tires on them).  It has a strong running 6.5 liter turbo diesel engine with newly rebuilt automatic transmission.  This hummer does have a few issues; the windshield is cracked on the driver side, there is some rust coming out around the rear of the truck, a couple of window switches need to be replaced, there are a few scratches and blemishes in the paint that I would consider normal for a 1997 vehicle, and I am sure there may be a few other small things that I am forgetting about but nothing that I would consider to be a deal breaker.  As I have stated above I consider this to be a mechanically sound vehicle that I would drive across the country without an extra thought.  I have set my reserve very low when compared to the Kelly Blue Book value (in fact several thousand below the KBB value).  the winner of this auction will get a truly unique vehicle at a very good price.  I know that if someone were to put a couple thousand into a few minor repairs/upgrades that it would be worth the $30k+ that similar Hummers are bringing every day.  Please, only bid if you are absolutely serious about buying it for your bid price.  I may be a little behind checking e-mails for questions that you may have so please feel free to call me directly (336)451-0666 just keep in mind that I work nights so you do not get an answer leave me a message with a phone number and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

GeigerCars Hummer H2 Bomber is ready for winter...now that it's spring

GeigerCars Hummer H2 Bomber - Click above for high-res image gallery
GiegerCars has a love affair with American cars, and a particularly strange affection for Hummers. The German tuner has created all sorts of strange variants like a Christmas-themed H2, a 700-horsepower H2 built for a Texas sheriff or any number of racing-liveried Hummers like the "Gulf Wing" or this Martini Racing inspired H3.
GiegerCars' latest creation is the Hummer H2 Bomber. The most notable modification is the addition of four Mattracks 88M1-A1 rubber tracks that replace the twenty inch wheels. The rest of the vehicle features a military design theme as well as a roof box with lighting and a silver matte paint finish. Now all we need is a race on a snow-covered drag strip between this and Ken Block's Subaru TRAX STI. Follow the jump for the press release from GeigerCars.

Lynch Hummer dealership in Chesterfield, Missouri - Click above for image gallery
You've heard of art imitating life? Well how about life imitating war? That's another story entirely, but not so far fetched when it comes to the Hummer. The sport-'ute that met the public eye during Operation Desert Storm has all but completely gone through its entire life cycle in the intervening years: first as a military-only vehicle, the original model became available to the public, then GM bought the rights and started churning out pickup-based H2s and H3s, the U.S. armed forces went back Iraq, the original H1 was discontinued and now GM is preparing to wind down the brand entirely. But not before one last pistol-shootin' hoorah, courtesy of the one dealership that arguably sees the truck for what it is more than any other: Lynch Hummer.
The St. Louis-area franchise made headlines last year when they started filling their emptying showroom with gun racks, selling firearms to make up for dwindling sales in the gigantic SUVs. Now the dealership is connecting the dots with a one-of-a-kind promotion: Buy a Hummer, get a free shotgun.

Humvee reborn on the battlefield... with a chimney?!

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

The military's High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), better known to most of us as the Humvee, has already served a long and distinguished career in the battlefield, and there have been a number of replacements waiting in the wings to take over where the HMMWV left off. Or, should we say, leaves off... assuming that ever happens.
It seems that the Humvee is set to get a new lease on life as military budget constraints are forcing the government to reconsider its replacement. But there are still some pesky safety issues to work out before American soldiers will feel comfortable inside the confines of the off-road box on wheels.
As you're likely aware, improvised explosive devices are an ever-increasing threat to the lives of American troops serving overseas. The Humvee, which traces its design all the way back to the year 1984 when it first saw duty as a replacement for the long-running series of military Jeeps, has seen a number of incarnations over the years that added armor and improved safety, but the latest version may feature something hitherto unseen: a chimney.
