1999 Honda Prelude Base Coupe 2-Door 2.2L This has been my personal car for about 2 years. It is running fine and has no problems that prevents it from being used for transportation. It has never broken down, and I am only selling it because I needed a bigger vehicle. Are far as I know there are no major engine problems, however there are some smaller issues that you need to be aware of. I have been told that the following mechanical items have issues or need replacement: rotors, shocks/struts, front axels. As noted above, the suspension on this vehicle needs work. In addition, the vehicle has been lowered, therefore I wouldn't recommend driving the car on large stretches of highway until you get the suspension fixed. It does not take big bumps well at high speeds. In general, it just doesn't take big bumps well (railroad tracks, large inclines, etc.). I haven't had problems driving the car in the city and on short spans of highway. There is usually only a problem once you get around 65-70 mph and hit a dip in the road. The shocks don't handle it well. In addition to the mechanical issues listed above, the vehicle has the following cosmetic/electrical/other issues: front blinkers not working (crack in left one), crack in front windshield, belt squeals for a few seconds when you crank the car (longer if the AC is on), tear in driver-side floor mat (2-3 inches), piece broken off inside driver door handle (still works), outside driver handle doesn't sit flush after released. Aside the the issues above, everything on the car works. The paint is chipping in some places and there is normal wear as you expect from a used car. |

Honda S2000, Acura RSX recalled over brake boosters
Fri, 14 Jun 2013Honda has announced a recall that affects two of our favorite, dearly departed cars from the brand's portfolio: the S2000 roadster and Acura RSX coupe. A total of 5,239 S2000 models from the 2006 and 2007 model years are affected by this problem, as are 13,113 2006 Acura RSX models.
"A production error may have allowed brake booster components to be produced outside of the original specifications, potentially causing decreased brake assistance over time, which could increase the risk of a crash," American Honda said in a press release. Thus, dealerships will inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake booster setups in these vehicles, free of charge.
No crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this brake problem. Honda says the problem was discovered during warranty claim analysis.
Honda renders three-row MPV for Jakarta reveal
Mon, 22 Jul 2013In preparation for the Indonesia International Motor Show coming up in September, Honda has released a teaser sketch (click to enlarge) of a new three-row MPV - specifically designed for this region - set to debut at the show. Honda says this yet-to-be-named people mover will be positioned in the entry-level MPV segment, which it says is a crucial part of the Indonesian auto market.
While there is no way to tell the size of the vehicle based off this rendering, it does appear to be far more stylish than the Honda CR-V, although the stepped-down beltline and the pinched shape of the rear quarter window have us thinking that Honda designers have been staring at the BMW i3 a little bit too much. The New Honda MPV will be powered by a 1.5-liter gas engine, and it goes on sale (and production) in Indonesia early next year. Honda, SolarCity expand sun-powered partnership with new $50 million fund
Wed, Oct 8 2014It must be solar-power announcement time. The DOE is ready to throw $25 million at concentrating solar power and New York State just announced $94 million for solar projects. At the broadly green-minded South By Southwest Eco festival in Austin, TX this week, Honda announced an expansion of its work with SolarCity to include a new fund that could finance up to $50 million in solar projects for dealerships and homes. Well, the homes of people who have purchased a Honda or Acura vehicle, at least. Stop us if this all sounds familiar. Honda and SolarCity announced back in early 2013 that they would work together on a $65-million fund to partially subsidize the installation of solar-panels at Honda dealers and on homes of Honda and Acura drivers. The new $50 million will be used to pay for not only the equipment but also the installation, which means that if you can get access to the money, you're looking at a pretty sweet 20-year lease deal to get solar energy for your home and could make it a bit more like the Honda Smart Home in Davis, CA (pictured). How sweet a deal? Well, there's zero down payment required and a 3-kW system starts could cost you just $25 a month, according to the fine print. Rates will vary, for sure, but if that sounds like something you're interested in, check out the Honda SolarCity site. The new fund builds on the previous work that, the two companies say, created enough solar capacity to offset "more than 400 million pounds of CO2 over a 30-year lifecycle."
