1990 Honda Crx Hf Coupe 2-door 1.5l Hybrid Tuner Special on 2040-cars
Mokena, Illinois, United States
Daily driver that I average 46 mpg with. The 1.5 liter American-market CRX HF (High Fuel economy)
model (chassis codes EC1 and AF) could reliably achieve very good
gas mileage, more than a decade before gas-electric hybrids appeared on the market, and at no price premium over the base model; the 1.5 liter is rated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (under the new rating system) at 42 miles per U.S. gallon (5.6 l/100 km; 50 mpg-imp) city and 51 miles per U.S. gallon (4.6 l/100 km; 61 mpg.
Only a genuine CRX HF will get you this and no other will come close. In 2012, the engine and trans were replaced with one that only had 112,000 miles on it. This was due to a leaking radiator that took out the original engine at 220,000. So that means this powertrain has roughly 130,000 on it. At the time the engine and trans were swapped out, a new radiator, water pump, tensioner, timing belt, alternator and clutch were installed. At that time newer struts and springs off a 30,000 mile donor were installed. The front axles and cv joints were replaced then too. New goodyear tires and a fresh paint job were also part of the restoration. The seats are out of an Si and are in great condition. Then I purchased the car Nov. of 2012. Since then it has been a daily driver. I have added factory A/C back to the car. I replaced the exhaust with a full stainless system including a new header. I added fog lights and the lower chin lip and new parking brake cables. A kenwood CD player with an AUX. input was installed along with a pair of 10 inch woofers and a 3200 watt amp. This car is being listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time due to local sale. |

Japan considering offering free hydrogen cars because $30k incentives apparently not enough
Wed, Aug 6 2014There's no such thing as a free lunch. A free hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, though? It may become a possibility in Japan, says Automotive News. We know the Japanese government is being plenty supportive of hydrogen vehicles since it will provide about $20,000 worth of incentives to prospective customers of the $69,000 vehicle. And with local governments like Toyota City's Aichi prefecture supplying another $10,000, out of pocket costs could reach less than $40,000 for the Toyota hydrogen car. We don't know for sure that the 'free' H2 car will happen, but with Toyota starting sales of its first production FCV next spring (potentially named Mirai), it could happen. That would also spell good news for Honda, which will follow up Toyota's effort for its own hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle. The case for the free car is still pretty tenuous. Automotive News, citing the Nihon Keizai business publication, reports that the Japanese government has thrown around the idea of subsidizing the vehicles outright to early adopters just to gain some momentum for this kind of zero-emissions vehicles. Heck, the government would even throw in free fuel for good measure. We'll see about that. To see some of the official hydrogen excitement, click here for a video of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe taking a Toyota fuel cell vehicle for a brisk test drive. Honda S2000, Acura RSX recalled over brake boosters
Fri, 14 Jun 2013Honda has announced a recall that affects two of our favorite, dearly departed cars from the brand's portfolio: the S2000 roadster and Acura RSX coupe. A total of 5,239 S2000 models from the 2006 and 2007 model years are affected by this problem, as are 13,113 2006 Acura RSX models.
"A production error may have allowed brake booster components to be produced outside of the original specifications, potentially causing decreased brake assistance over time, which could increase the risk of a crash," American Honda said in a press release. Thus, dealerships will inspect and, if necessary, replace the brake booster setups in these vehicles, free of charge.
No crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this brake problem. Honda says the problem was discovered during warranty claim analysis.
