YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 2005 HONDA CIVIC. THIS IS THE "VP" VERSION, AND COMES WITH A 1.7 LITER (4 - CYL) FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ENGINE, AND AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE CAR GETS OVER 30 MILES TO THE GALLON, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR DOES NOT RUN DUE TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS A BLOWN TRANSMISSION. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IT HAS SEVERAL MILES ON IT ..., I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT NUMBER, BUT IT IS OVER 220,000 ..., AND IT WAS RUNNING FINE UP UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO, WHEN THE TRANNY STARTED SLIPPING, AND I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT HOME, BUT IT WILL ONLY GO INTO ONE GEAR (FORWARD) AND REVERSE ..., BUT IT ONLY MOVES LIKE ONE MILE AN HOUR. AT THE MOMENT, IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A LITTLE WHILE, SO THE BATTERY IS DEAD, AND I TRIED TO JUMP START IT THE OTHER DAY, AND ALL I COULD DO WAS GET IT TO CRANK ..., BUT IT WOULD NOT FIRE. DON'T KNOW IF MAYBE THE BATTERY IS TOO DEAD, OR WHAT IT MAY BE (I DIDN'T MAKE TO BIG OF AN EFFORT TO GET IT GOING, I JUST WANTED TO TRY TO GET IT TO START FOR THE WINNER) . I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER ..., BUT UNFORTUNATELY LET MY TEENAGE SON DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE, SO IT GOT SLIGHTLY MORE ABUSED THAT I HAD HOPED FOR. 95% OF THE MILES DRIVEN ON THIS CAR WERE FREEWAY COMMUTER MILES, AND I WAS VERY GENTLE WITH THE CAR. ANY ABUSE CAME FROM MY SON, AND HE ONLY DROVE IT FOR A FEW MONTHS.

ANYHOW ..., ASIDE FROM THE TRANNY NOT WORKING ..., IT HAS A FEW OTHER ISSUES, WHICH I WILL DO MY BEST TO POINT OUT. FIRST OFF, THERE IS A RATHER LARGE SCRAP DOWN THE PASSENGER SIDE ..., NOT TOO GIGANTIC, BUT DEFINITELY OBVIOUS. THERE ARE A COUPLE OTHER DENTS IN VARIOUS PLACES AROUND THE CAR ..., AGAIN, NOTHING GROSSLY OVERWHELMING, JUST MINOR DENTS. THE MIRROR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS KNOCKED OFF, AND GLUED BACK ON (THE GLASS FOR IT IS IN THE CENTER CONSOLE). A COUPLE OF THE PLASTIC PIECES INSIDE THE CAR CAME OFF (LIKE INSIDE THE DOOR HANLE (PIECES ARE IN THE CENTER CONSOLE AS WELL). THE HOOD LATCH LEVER ON THE INSIDE IS BROKEN OFF, BUT CAN EASILY BE GRABBED WITH TINY HANDS, OR A PAIR OF PLIERS. THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED. THERE IS A STEREO/ CD PLAYER AND SPEAKERS THROUGHOUT THE CAR, , BUT THE SPEAKERS ARE DISCONNECTED. THE PAINT ON THE REAR SPOILER IS FADED AND NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED. PLEASE SEE PICTURES FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE.

PLEASE NOTE: WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED, I DON'T GET TO IT MUCH, SO I DID MY BEST TO TAKE PICTURES WHEN I WAS THERE ..., BUT UNFORTUANTELY THE SUN WAS GOING DOWN, SO THEY DON'T DO THE CAR THE JUSTICE IT DESERVES. INITIAL SHOTS WERE AS THE SUN WAS FADING, AND THE REMAINDER OF THE SHOTS WERE TAKEN WITH A FLASH, IN THE DARK ..., SO PLEASE TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION, AND IF YOU NEED SOME BETTER SHOTS, JUST LET ME KNOW, AND I'LL TRY TO GO OUT THERE BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS AND TAKE SOME MORE.

OVERALL, THE INTERIOR IS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE. SEATS HAVE BEEN COVERED WITH SEAT COVERS THEIR WHOLE LIFE TILL JUST RECENTLY, AS WELL AS THE FLOOR HAS BEEN COVERED WITH MATS. EVERYTHING ON THE CAR IS ORIGINAL, EXCEPT FOR THE SPOILER, AND WHEELS. THE TIRES ARE ALMOST NEW ..., MAYBE A FEW HUNDRED MILES ON THEM. ALL THE LIGHTS, BUTTONS, KNOBS, AND SWITCHES WORK AS THEY SHOULD. AIR CONDITIONING WORKS GREAT. HEATER WORKS FABULOUS. CAR HAD AN ALARM SYSTEM BUT REMOVED CUZ IT WAS ACTING FUNNY (LOCATED IN CENTER CONSOLE IF YOU WANT IT, AND HOOKS UP UNDER DASH, BELOW STEERING WHEEL).  STEREO WORKED PHENOMINAL, BUT MY SON TOOK THE AMPS AND WOOFERS OUT FOR HIS OTHER CAR. STEREO AND CAR SPEAKERS ARE STILL INTACT, THE SPEAKERS JUST NEED TO BE HOOKED UP AGAIN. THERE IS A REMOTE FOR THE STEREO IN THE GLOVE BOX. CAR HAS MINI SPARE IN TRUNK AND A FULL SIZE SPARE, THAT I CAN SEND WITH THE WINNER IF THEY WANT IT. THE TRUNK HAS A WOOD FLOOR HATCH DESIGNED IN IT, BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL SET UP WAS SILLY AND DID NOT ALLOW FOR THE WOOFERS TO BE MOUNTED PROPERLY. THIS WOODEN ATTACHMENT IS ACTUALLY A NICE FEATURE (NOT A NEGATIVE THING AT ALL). THE OVERALL PAINT IS A BLACK WITH BLUE AND PURPLE SPECS IN THE PAINT, THAT ORIGINALLY HAD A GREAT LOOK TO IT, ESPECIALLY IN THE SUN. OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE SOME DENTS AND DINGS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED IN ORDER TO GET IT PERFECT AGAIN ..., BUT OVERALL THIS CAR CAN BE A GREAT CAR WITH JUST A LITTLE BIT OF MECHANICAL REAPAIRS ..., AND THE DENTS AND SCRATCHES DO NOT IMPAIR THE CAR IN ANY WAY FROM BEING DRIVEN, NOR DO THEY EVEN LOOK THAT BAD, SO YOU CAN PROBABLY JUST LEAVE THE PAINT ALONE ..., FIX THE TRANNY, AND OFF YOU GO.

THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS IS AND DOES NOT COME WITH ANY WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES OF ANY KIND. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR WISH TO COME AND SEE THE CAR BEFORE THE AUCTION ENDS, PLEASE CONTACT ME THRU E-MAIL AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ACCOMADATE WHATEVER YOUR REQUEST MAY BE. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A LOCAL PICK UP ONLY AND ANY SHIPPING ARRANGEMNET FOR THIS VEHICLE MUST BE HANDLED SOLEY BY THE BUYER. THE VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF LITTLEROCK CA, WHICH IS ABOUT SIXTY MILES NORTH OF LOS ANGELES.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU ..., THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST ..., AND HAPPY BIDDING.

P.S. THE CAR IS LISTED LOCALLY AS WELL, SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY IF REQUIRED.

THE CAR IS CURRENTLY ON A NON-OP REGISTRATION, AND THE TAGS ON THE CAR READ: JULY 2013. IT NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM PASSING SMOG, IT JUST SEEMED SENSELESS TO LEAVE IT REGISTERED WHILE IT WAS BROKEN. THE TITLE IS CLEAR AND IN HAND ..., AND THE ONLY OTHER ISSUE IS THAT THE PLATES ON THE CAR ARE PERSONLIZED AND THEY WILL NOT BE SOLD WITH THE CAR ..., JUST AN FYI.

Honda Vision XS-1 Concept looks like a sportier Vezel [w/video]

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

We've talked a lot about the Honda Vezel over the past few months, as the Autoblog staff is looking forward to the Fit-based CUV. It's a handsome little vehicle, that we think will do quite well when it finally arrives in the US market. That said, it's not a particularly exciting vehicle to look at.
Along with the appearance of the Mugen-tuned Vezel at the Tokyo Auto Salon, though, a new concept that's being shown by Honda today at India's Delhi Auto Expo has us hopeful for a Vezel that looks a bit more assertive. It's called the Vision XS-1 Concept, and it's a seven-passenger (yes, seven) crossover that features minivan-style sliding doors. It sports Honda's "Exciting H Design," which is the same design philosophy used by the stylists that penned the new Fit. Unfortunately, at the moment, Honda has provided exactly zero details about what powers its new concept.
As a concept for the Indian market, which is home to some of the tightest, most congested roads on the planet, the stylish XS-1 is meant to demonstrate that Honda knows a thing or six about building compact vehicles. In that regard, we think it's a spot-on piece of work. Let us know what you think of it in Comments, but first, have a look up top for a gallery of images and then scroll down for a brief video and the official press release from Honda.

Honda scores big in Automobile Advertising of the Year Awards [w/videos]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

This year the Detroit Auto Show didn't just celebrate the automobile, it celebrated how we find out about the automobile, too. Partnering The One Club, this year introduced the 2014 One Show Automobile Advertising of the Year Award to Cobo Hall, celebrating winners in five different categories of advertising: broadcast television, online, interactive, experiential, and print/outdoor. Winners in those categories were judged by 50 creative directors and journalists, while a Public Choice category was chosen from among nearly 20,000 online votes.
Honda walked off with three of the six awards, its Hands spot taking Broadcast honors, its Sound of Honda getting the Online category and Illusions winning Public Choice. Hyundai made the grade in Interactive with Driveway Decision Maker, Fiat captured Print/Outdoor with its "Letters" ad, and Toyota's Tundra Endeavor Campaign spot and BMW's A Window into the Near Future were co-winners for Experiential.
You can watch all of the press release and winning videos below or check out all of the finalists, announced last month, for a refresher.

Honda motorcycles most stolen, just like Honda autos

Tue, 26 Nov 2013

It comes as no surprise that Honda's Civic and Accord are the most stolen cars in America, but as it turns out, thieves like the company's motorcycles the most too, according to a study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). Out of the 46,061 two-wheelers stolen in 2012, 9,082 of them were Hondas. While that's bad news for Honda motorcycle owners, at least motorcycle theft went down slightly from 2011, which had 46,667 reported thefts. Motorcycle theft recoveries, on the other hand, were just 39 percent.
Yamaha is up next in the theft rankings (7,517), then Suzuki (7,017). The numbers drop a bit for fourth and fifth place, Kawasaki (4,839) and Harley-Davidson (3,755). These five brands are far and away the most stolen motorcycles: sixth place, apparently held by scooter, dirtbike and ATV maker Taotao, dropped to 914 theft reports.
California had the most reported thefts (6,082), followed by Florida (4,110), Texas (3,400), North Carolina (2,574) and Indiana (2,334). By city, New York City had the most reported thefts (903), followed by Las Vegas (757), San Diego (633), Indianapolis (584) and Miami (535.
