			 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid
I hit a patch of ice and spun into a guardrail a week ago. The front end was damaged and the 2 front airbags deployed. The frame in the front needs to be straightened somewhat, but the front wheels and the suspension seem unaffected. The engine was not hit. The engine starts and runs fine with no check engine light. I have been running the engine every day to keep the engine and IMA battery healthy. It appears that with a little work on the frame in front the car could be fine. I just don't have time to work on this now. The car has a clean title and is ready for immediate purchase. (I didn't have collision insurance on this car so the insurance company never looked at it, and I didn't cancel the CT registration after the accident because I planned to fix it.) This car has a new IMA (hybrid) battery that was installed just over a year ago in the fall of 2012. The battery is still under warranty for almost 2 more years and the warranty is transferrable. Please see bumblebeebatteries.com for more info. I will also include a wiring harness to connect this battery to the Genesis One grid charger. The harness hasn't been installed yet but it's easy to do. The IMA battery and charging harness together cost about 2300. Other features of the car: • JVC HD radio and CD player • 5 speed manual transmission • new seat covers and floor mats • clean interior, no rips or stains • good tires with lots of tread left • new 12 volt battery installed just a month ago • always very well maintained with regular oil changes • there are video monitors and a CD / DVD player in the 2 headrests for entertainment in the back seat • antenna for sirius satellite radio on the roof • includes the official (green) Honda repair manual for this car which costs $100 • the car gets great gas mileage--50 mpg on the highway if you drive carefully Parts that will need to be replaced to drive the car: • front windshield (broken by the airbag) • the 2 front airbags • radiator and oil cooler • front bumper and grill • A/C and water pump belt • splash shields under the engine • headlights $2600 or best offer. I would like to move this quickly. |

YouTube viewers prefer BMW
Fri, Sep 11 2015BMW owners sometimes get a bad rap as being snobbish, rude drivers, but according to a new study by the online marketing company ZEFR, Bimmer aficionados also have a close relationship with the brand's vehicles. With well over 4 billion YouTube views, the German automaker is the industry's king of the road online. Making the popularity even sweeter for marketers, 95 percent of those clicks are for fan videos, which represents loads of free advertising. BMW isn't the only automaker with such an extensive following. Honda comes in a close second with around 4 billion views, and Mercedes-Benz is just a little behind it. Among all brands, it's the norm for fan-made videos rather than the official ones to get the lion's share of the clicks, generally 95 percent or more. "YouTube has become a treasure trove for connecting with the right people for automakers," Dave Rosner, ZEFR marketing boss, said to Automotive News. Beyond just a popularity contest among brands, automotive videos are big business on YouTube, according to ZEFR's research. Enthusiasts are leading the way, too. Racing is by far the most-watched category with 895,000 clips generating a staggering 8.2 billion views. Classic cars are also a very hot topic with 305,000 videos getting 1.6 billion clicks. Surprisingly, when it comes to watching auto videos, sedans are most popular on YouTube with over 9 billion views, according to Automotive News. Meanwhile, SUVs, performance vehicles, and pickups were each around 3 billion or less. You can check out the full study for yourself, as a PDF, here. Related Video:
Honda could halve its US lineup without crimping its sales much [w/video]
Sat, 18 May 2013Taking a detailed look at the Honda lineup in the US, it isn't hard to see the strength of some models and the weaknesses of others. A recent report on Autoline Daily points out that its five core models - the Accord, Civic, CR-V, Odyssey and Pilot - make up a full 93 percent of Honda's sales in the US. Through April, Honda has sold 419,798 vehicles, and 389,474 of them were from these core models; not to mention the fact that the Accord was the top-selling car in the US last month.
This means that Honda could technically cut six of its 11 models and only lose about 5,000 sales per month. Of course, this is just some data crunching and there is no reason to believe that Honda is planning to kill off any of its models in the near future. In fact, it seems to be committed to the Ridgeline, while Japanese-made models that may actually lose money for Honda still fill unique voids. Scroll down for the video report - fast-forward to the 1:43 mark for the Honda info.
2014 Honda HPD CR-Z
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Honda invited us to its Southern California North American headquarters last week to take a spin in a very special CR-Z - one modified with a full complement of Honda Performance Development (HPD) components. While the company has been racing with HPD parts for years, this is the first time the automaker has offered them for its street-legal vehicles, and it has chosen this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas to be the launch venue. Last year, Honda introduced the HPD Supercharged CR-Z Concept at SEMA - this is the slightly modified production version.
The complete transformation gives the normally placid hybrid hatchback a serious shot of adrenaline thanks to a bolt-on supercharger combined with suspension, tire, brake and exhaust upgrades. In addition to the blower (detailed in a bullet point below), new HPD suspension components lower the car by about half an inch, and firmer spring rates stiffen the ride. Stock 16- or 17-inch wheels are then replaced with HPD 18-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires (215/40ZR18 at all corners). The clutch is upgraded, a limited-slip differential is installed and new HPD monobloc four-piston calipers are fitted over slotted and ventilated iron rotors up front (the single-pistons over solid discs on the back axle are unchanged). In the rear, the stock hidden single exhaust pipe is replaced by a free-flow twin-tip exhaust that peers out of a new HPD lower diffuser. Other cosmetic enhancements include an HPD front lip spoiler, rear deck lid spoiler and an HPD emblem kit for each side. To say the CR-Z is transformed by the complete HPD package is an understatement.
