I am selling my 2006 GMC 3500 long wheelbase truck. It has an 11' flatbed and the 165" wheelbase. It's a 4x4 with the 6.0 gas V8, 4.10 rear gears, and a 4 speed automatic transmission. I have been saving up for an F350 6.2 with a dump bed and when they rebates went up this winter I finally bought one. I could not trade this truck in because I needed it during the 6 weeks it took Knapheide to install the new bed. I am the second owner of this truck. It was hard to find a nice one with a longer wheelbase. It was from Colorado and is surprisingly rust free even on the frame. It would make a really good feed truck for a farmer. I hauled some firewood and mulch on it. It has a 5th wheel hitch in the bed which I never used. Sometimes I would tow a small flatbed trailer with a stump grinder on it.
It has a couple of flaws: there is a dent in one cab corner. There are a few little knicks in the paint. The previous owner had a grille guard bolted to the bumper and then removed it. I had to weld the holes and paint them so there are two paint places on the top of the front bumper. He also put a custom exhaust on it and "modified" the catalytic converters. The truck has a lot of power but there is a rumble to the exhaust and the rear oxygen sensors throw the check engine light. If your state has emission inspections you will have to buy new converters. Other than that it looks and runs good.
In the last 20,000 miles I have done the 100,000 mile service including new front and rear brake pads, rotors, and hoses. It also got new spark plugs, a transmission flush and filter, new transfer case and new front differential fluid, and one new fuel pump and filter. It has dual fuel tanks. I don't know how many gallons it holds but it seems like 45 or 50.
It got regular oil and filter changes as well as new air filters.
The tires are brand new Firestone Transforce ATs. They have less than 1000 miles on them.
The air conditioning works well. It doesn't have cruise control, I don't want someone to get an unpleasant surprise from that.
I drive it all the time on the interstate and there is no reason the buyer can't drive it long distances. It has passed Missouri State Inspection. It went once to Northern Iowa and once to Tennessee without any problems.
If you have any questions call 573-219-0980
You can pay with cash, wire transfer or checks. If you pay with any check (even cashier's checks) the check has to clear before you get the truck or title. It has no lien against it so if you pay cash you can take it the same day. If the buyer flys into the Columbia, MO airport I can pick them up and take them to the truck. Or you can fly into St. Louis or Kansas City and then take a shuttle to Columbia MO where I can pick you up.

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
Buick, GMC making OnStar Connected Services standard
Mon, Jul 11 2022The thing about the future is that so long as you're alive, you're going to get there whether you like it or not. Thanks to over-the-air connections essentially being a compulsory part of EV ownership and an increasingly important — and profitable — component of ICE ownership, it's easiest for automakers to install full-featured Internet connections in every vehicle. GM has taken the first step, a report in GM Authority saying that as of June 2, all Buick and GMC models are sold with the Onstar Connected Services plan good for three years. The OnStar site shows the Connected Vehicle tier that comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot costs $24.99 per month, which would be $900 minus a few pennies for three years. At the top end is OnStar Premium that runs about $1,800 for three years. Both include Connected Services features, yet GMA reports that depending on the vehicles, OnStar Connected Services will cost between $905 and $1,675. Only the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is excluded for now. GM confirmed the change to GM Authority, saying, "This offering provides our owners with a full suite of OnStar and Connected Services for three years, providing them with more time to enjoy services such as remote key fob, Wi-Fi data and OnStar safety services. By including this plan as standard equipment on the vehicle, it provides more customer value and a more seamless onboarding experience." Three trims of the GMC Sierra 1500 and two trims of the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL come in at the low end, OnStar adding $905 to their MSRPs. Almost every other vehicle gets hit with a $1,500 charge. The GMC Sierra HD Pro is the only model to charge $1,675 for it, which GMA breaks out as a "$1,500 3-year subscription and $175 OnStar & GMC Connected Services Capability." This brings up the question of the price differences; we can't tell if there's a difference in feature content between the price tiers, or why the Sierra HD gets the extra $175 fee. The automaker told GMA the upcharge will be folded into the MSRP. On the configurator for the Sierra 1500 SLE, for instance, the dialog box for three years of OnStar at $1,500 is automatically checked and can't be unchecked. The Buick configurators we tried don't mention OnStar.
Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015
Tue, Feb 11 2014Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.
