This is a 1969 ford torino gt fastback, it is about 95% complete and ready for you to steal at a fraction of what I have invested into it. the body is rust free and fresh paint. painted to the original color (ford new lime) the engine and trans are original to the car and have been professionally rebuilt. the engine is a 351w with mile performance build. mild cam, new edelbrock performer intake and new edelbrock 600cfm electric choke carb, has hei distributor with ford racing 9mm wires and mad ignition, has aluminum under drive pulleys and aluminum 3 corer radiator. brand new true dual exhaust with stainless steel tips. the brakes have been redone with new master cylinder, car is factory power disc brakes, new rotors and pads with new wheel bearing, rear drums have been redone with hardware and drums with new shoes, also has new wheel cylinders. the suspension has been gone through and replaced the upper and lower ball joints, new lower control arms and new sway bar end links. the interior has new upholstered seats front and rear with new front and rear door panels, new carpet, new sill plates, new head liner, (all black) has 6x9 in the rear package tray and 6inch speakers wired for the kick panels. (still needs to be installed) has cd player mounted under dash. nice sounding system, I have invested a lot of money into this car and ready to let go, need money for house. the car is very close to being done wouldn't take much at all, there is a few pieces that need to be put back on the car like the headlights and the grill along with the bumper, the grill need to be refinished and the hood scoop needs to be repainted. this is a very solid car and straight, there is a wave in the tail panel from pervious owner backing into a pole someone hammered it out and use some filler. looks ok but could use a little more work to make it perfect. im sure im forgetting a few things so just message with any questions ill be honest and straight forward to ensure you are happy with making a bid. the car is also listed locally so I reserve the right to end auction early and buyer is responsible for pick up or arranging shipping, Thank you. Ford blamed in drug mule lawsuit
Tue, 30 Jul 2013If a college student is caught smuggling drugs across the border, one might think the kid got what was coming to him. But when a Mexican student at the University of Texas in El Paso was caught by Border Patrol agents with duffel bags filled with marijuana in his trunk, the man used a classic excuse: He claimed they weren't his.
While a claim like that is almost unbelievable, Ricardo Magallanes, the student, is now suing Ford for handling its vehicles' key codes negligently enough to allow drug smugglers to break into his Ford Focus and stash the drugs, The Daily Caller reports. The twist here is that four other people who lived in Juarez and worked in El Paso were involved in the same type of scheme - allegedly unwittingly, just like Magallanes - and all the cars were Fords except one model from General Motors. FBI agents also found an employee at a Dallas Ford dealership that had accessed the key codes to all four of the cannabis-stuffed Fords.
While we all may not own Fords, the case still causes us slight paranoia. We'll definitely be checking our trunks before we cross any more international borders.
Expert: 54.5 mpg CAFE standard can be reached without many plug-ins
Sat, Jan 18 2014Johnson Controls executive Brian Kesseler isn't likely to get any holiday presents this year from Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn or Tesla Motors head Elon Musk, but lots of other folks might be happy with what he has to say about automakers' efforts to reach stricter fleetwide fuel-economy standards. Speaking at the Automotive News World Congress, Kesseler said automakers wouldn't need to sell an extensive number of plug-in vehicles in order to meet the 54.5 mile per gallon Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard the US government set in 2012 for 2025 model-year vehicles. In fact, he said, components such as stop-start engine technology, turbochargers and direct injection may actually do the trick. Already, things like smaller engine sizes and lighter cars are already playing major roles in spurring fuel-efficiency gains. Of course, Johnson Controls sells batteries specially built for stop-start systems, so Kesseler does have a bit of skin in this game. The 54.5-mpg CAFE standard equates to about a 40-mpg "real world" fuel-efficiency level. To put that into perspective, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said in a report late last year that model-year 2013 average fuel economy was an even 24 mpg. That was up from 23.6 mpg for the 2012 model year and 22.4 mpg for 2011. MotorWeek remembers pre-EcoBoost Ford with the Thunderbird TurboCoupe
Thu, Feb 26 2015Sometimes it feels great to embrace nostalgia for a trip down memory lane, and MotorWeek indulges that occasional desire with its regular Retro Review series. This time, the long-lived show goes back to the '80s to check out two of the top performance vehicles in the Ford lineup at the time – the 1987 Thunderbird TurboCoupe and Mustang GT. Both models had just received thorough refreshes after several years on the market. Long before an EcoBoost badge ever met its models, Ford made early forays into experimenting with turbocharging on vehicles like the T-Bird TurboCoupe. Based on MotorWeek's assessment, the company was on the right track. The boosted 2.3-liter four-cylinder was apparently a bit coarse but offered 190 horsepower with little turbo lag, compared to 155 hp the year before. The Mustang GT is likely the more-fondly remembered of these performance Fords today and provides an interesting point of comparison against the TurboCoupe. MotorWeek found some faults with the 'Stang, though. While it was quick for the time with a sprint to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, the 'car was described as "a nose-heavy beast" for its handling. And for a look at Ford's future in turbocharging – the GT will have an EcoBoost powerplant – check out our Related Video:
