This car as u may recall was on a few weeks back.  I have decided to go through with it, painful as it may be.  If this isn't the nicest 61 around I'd be quite surprised.   Super rare nautilus gray with red interior, and gorgeous.  Original interior was black and white cloth, ugh.  If u don't like attention, oohs and ahhs, this car is not for u.  Rebuilt 390, runs fantastic.  Just spent 1 k changing all gaskets.  All gauges work, ac works and is ice cold.  Clock works too.  Top mechanism works flawlessly.  Slaves, cylinders, motors, etc all redone.  There are two by bass switches added, one for up one for down, in case the top mechanism fails.  This enables the deck lid to open and close, bypassing the factory top button.   Paint is flawless.  Absolutely gorgeous metallic nautilus grey.  Interior is the same.  New carpet.  No rips, cracks in seats or dash.  Took an am-fm from a 63 and installed it ion this car.  I have the original am if desired, although it needs repair.   The car has won more awards than I can list.   Best of show, best paint, best ford, etc.  She took a second in the VTCI natl convention in 2010.  Tires new, wheels have no rash.   Alternator installed for better charging.  I have the original generator if desired.  Engine bay spotless.  She spent the first 46 yrs in Texas until the owner got sick at which time it came to illinois.  It was in 2006.   A friend bought it and I pestered him for three yrs until he sold it to me.  I have a mountain of paperwork, receipts, etc going back some 20 plus yrs.   I have taken loving care of this baby.  It is not ur ordinary 61 bird.  It is truly spectacular.  Driven mostly to shows and cruise nights only.  In August, 2013, she was included and displayed in the Geneva, Il concours d'elegance.  Quite an honor to be included.   The car is so gorgeous that Jim Powers, who was on the design team for the 61 thunderbird wanted to buy it and add it to his collection.  I have pictures of him with the car.  He's prob 90 yrs old!   Feel free to contact me with questions as I probably forgot something.  Any offers can be discussed.  Serious only please.  Check the pics and u decide!  Thanks and good luck.    Forgot to mention The underside is clean as a whistle too....

The next steps automakers could take after sales drop again in April

Tue, May 2 2017

DETROIT (Reuters) - Major automakers on Tuesday posted declines in U.S. new vehicle sales for April in a sign the long boom cycle that lifted the American auto industry to record sales last year is losing steam, sending carmaker stocks down. The drop in sales versus April 2016 came on the heels of a disappointing March, which automakers had shrugged off as just a bad month. But two straight weak months has heightened Wall Street worries the cyclical industry is on a downward swing after a nearly uninterrupted boom since the Great Recession's end in 2010. Auto sales were a drag on U.S. first-quarter gross domestic product, with the economy growing at an annual rate of just 0.7 percent according to an advance estimate published by the Commerce Department last Friday. Excluding the auto sector the GDP growth rate would have been 1.2 percent. Industry consultant Autodata put the industry's seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales at 16.88 million units for April, below the average of 17.2 million units predicted by analysts polled by Reuters. General Motors Co shares fell 2.9 percent while Ford Motor Co slid 4.3 percent and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's U.S.-traded shares tumbled 4.2 percent. The U.S. auto industry faces multiple challenges. Sales are slipping and vehicle inventory levels have risen even as carmakers have hiked discounts to lure customers. A flood of used vehicles from the boom cycle are increasingly competing with new cars. The question for automakers: How much and for how long to curtail production this summer, which will result in worker layoffs? To bring down stocks of unsold vehicles, the Detroit automakers need to cut production, and offer more discounts without creating "an incentives war," said Mark Wakefield, head of the North American automotive practice for AlixPartners in Southfield, Michigan. "We see multiple weeks (of production) being taken out on the car side," he said, "and some softness on the truck side." Rival automakers will be watching each other to see if one is cutting prices to gain market share from another, he said, instead of just clearing inventory. INVESTORS DIGEST BAD NEWS Just last week GM reported a record first-quarter profit, but that had almost zero impact on the automaker's stock. The iconic carmaker, whose own interest was once conflated with that of America's, has slipped behind luxury carmaker Tesla Inc in terms of valuation.

TX officer allegedly lets 140-mph street racer go with a warning [w/poll]

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

Being pulled over by the police is one of the most nerve-racking situations that a driver can go through, and it's even worse when you know that the officer has you dead to rights for speeding well over the posted limit. In this video, the driver of a heavily modified Ford Mustang with a claimed 966 horsepower at the rear wheels could have easily lost his ride for doing triple-digit speeds and street racing, but a friendly Texas police officer appears to send him on his way with a simple warning.
What's more, the driver in question wasn't just speeding - his Mustang was the camera car for a bunch of rolling street races in the wee hours of the morning on a Texas highway. The driver was more than willing to mix it up in the action, too. Eventually the cops catch on and pick the 'Stang to pull over, but not before the Ford owner runs a claimed 140 mph. With only audio to go on after the car is pulled over, the police officer seems incredibly nonchalant about catching someone who was so brazenly breaking the law. Incredibly, the patrolman actually tells the driver that he's seen everyone racing tonight but ignored them. With traffic picking up, the cop says that it's time to "cut it out" and go home for the night. As far as this video shows, that was the end of it.
