1989 ford ranger. top chopped with full stock windshield. Body: completely rust free with the exception of some minor rust bubbles in the area of the re fit of the windshield post (see pics.) bed mini tubbed. full interior and headliner. needs repaint as the clear coat is lifting in places and rubbed through around the driver window (probably from arm and hand contact while being driven.  has a custom grille. some custom details around the body.

Drive train: 355 early 70"s Chevy with a moderate camshaft and Pete Jackson gear drive. internals details unknown. stock exhaust manifolds into dual turbo type mufflers. (sound good but needs attention. ) aluminum dual plane Edelbrock intake and Holly list 3310 carb. Trans: 700 r 4 that I had rebuilt with 3300 stall lock up converter, Kevlar bands, corvette servo, and overdrive lock up is through a manual push /pull switch on the dash. (trans has less than 1000 mile on it. rear end: 9 inch ford narrowed single track (yup) and 14/ 32/mickeys and pro star wheels.

Overall: nice running and starting truck. drives anywhere and sounds like a 9 second truck . using the overdrive and the vacuum secondary carb the is a level of fuel economy. However it really wants a double pumper. there is an electric holly 85 gph fuel pump pulling through the stock set up in the fuel tank. also a thermostat controlled electric fan. both are wired on relays. The 14/32s rub slightly on the frame rails when cornering a little hard. There are many themes that could be carried from pro street/drag to ridiculous over the top street, rat rod or a nice street rod type. I am going VW drag racing and have decide to focus on that. I have had this truck for 4 years and it has grown on me and turns heads where ever I take it.

Riding along in Ford's bonkers Fiesta ST Global RallyCross car [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

The Mountune-worked Fiesta ST GRC does 0-to-60 mph in 1.9 seconds.
On any given day, and every single weekend, there's at least one parking in the country invaded by manufacturer and team trucks. The be-chromed beasts and their 53-foot trailers are slotted into rows, men and women decorate the lot with orange cones to mark the invisible tracery of a temporary track, cars get unloaded, crews fret over them. The ritual can be as beautiful as the sunrise to those with enthusiast hearts, but it's just as common.

Scandal-rocked UAW extends Ford, FCA contracts, prepares to strike GM

Fri, Sep 13 2019

DETROIT — Leaders of the United Auto Workers union have extended contracts with Ford and Fiat Chrysler indefinitely, but the pact with General Motors is still set to expire Saturday night. The move puts added pressure on bargainers for both sides as they approach the contract deadline and the union starts to make preparations for a strike. The contract extension was confirmed Friday by UAW spokesman Brian Rothenberg, who declined further comment on the talks. The union has picked GM as the target company, meaning it is the focus of bargaining and would be the first company to face a walkout. GMÂ’s contract with the union is scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. ItÂ’s possible that the four-year GM contract also could be extended or a deal could be reached, but itÂ’s more likely that 49,200 UAW members could walk out of GM plants as early as Sunday because union and company demands are so far apart. Picket line schedules already have been posted near the entrance to one local UAW office in Detroit. Art Wheaton, an auto industry expert at the Worker Institute at Cornell University, expects the GM contract to be extended for a time, but he says the gulf between both sides is wide. “GM is looking through the windshield ahead, and it looks like nothing but land mines,” he said of a possible recession, trade disputes and the expense of developing electric and autonomous vehicles. “I think thereÂ’s really going to be a big problem down the road in matching the expectations of the union and the willingness of General Motors to be able to give the membership what it wants.” Plant-level union leaders from all over the country will be in Detroit on Sunday to talk about the next steps, and after that, the union likely will make an announcement. But leaders are likely to face questions about an expanding federal corruption probe that snared a top official on Thursday. Vance Pearson, head of a regional office based near St. Louis, was charged with corruption in an alleged scheme to embezzle union money and spend cash on premium booze, golf clubs, cigars and swanky stays in California. ItÂ’s the same region that UAW President Gary Jones led before taking the unionÂ’s top office last year. Jones and other union executives met privately at a hotel at Detroit Metropolitan Airport on Friday. After the meeting broke up, JonesÂ’ driver and others physically blocked an AP reporter from trying to approach him to ask questions.

Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.
