Classy 1960 Ford Ranchero Custom Fresh Build, Everything New. Drive Anywhere! on 2040-cars
Loomis, California, United States
Very cute, clean 1960 Ranchero. This whole car is a fresh build and guaranteed to bring smiles. Runs great with a 170 cubic inch inline 6 from a 1963 Falcon, acompanied by a 3 speed manual transmission with a Hurst "Indy shifter". The motor and front suspension have been thoroughly gone through, new Fisk whitewall tires, new clutch, newly upholstered seats, new carpet kit, and much more. This car drives amazing and can be driven comfortably all day. There is absolutely no slop in the steering box or front suspension. The suspension has all been lowered about 3", but it still rides like a stock Ranchero, it doesn't bounce around like many other lowered cars. The body is very straight and rust free, aside from two patch panels, one on each floorboard of the car in the foot-well area on either side. Both patches are about 1' x 1' in size. The car isn't perfect, but it is very fun and shows very well. Overall, this car is extremely reliable, and can be driven anywhere. Easy to work on, easy to find parts for, cheap and very cool custom car with tons of new parts, fresh motor, and new paint. Drivetrain and motor: The previous owner had it rebuilt, and she runs like a top. Starts immediately on cold and hot days. Motor never gets above 180 degrees, and gets very good gas mileage. New fuel pump, Pertronix ignition, blaster coil, remanufactured carburetor, new alternator and a new .aluminum radiator. Motor doesn't tick, leak or smoke. The motor and transmission are both from a donor 1963 Falcon. Clutch is new and doesn't chatter or slip. The transmission works perfectly, no grinding, and shifts very well with the new Hurst "Indy Shifter". Tires are "Fisk Classics" with a 1" whitewall. Everything has approximately 500 miles in overall use. Upholstery: A very classy look, with a new carpet kit, reupholstered bucket seats, detailed dash, chrome Hurst shifter, JVC brand, CD-MP3-AM-FM stereo with two 6" Kicker 2-way speakers in the door panels. The interior shows well, but there is an empty space in the dash where the original AM radio used to be, along with 5 small holes where the factory heater control and vent control knobs used to be, however it is a great spot for new toggle switches to go. The dash paint looks very nice and is satin black. There has been body work done to the doors to get rid of the door glass and it looks very good, a nice custom touch. The door panels and bed are decked out with Alder wood, that has been stained and treated with urethane. All lights work. Doors, hood, and tailgate open and close great. Watch as U.S. auto industry springs back to life after lockdown
Tue, May 19 2020WARREN, Michigan — The Detroit Three automakers and their suppliers began restarting assembly lines on Monday after a two-month coronavirus lockdown in a slow revival of a sector that employs nearly 1 million people in the United States. On a chilly and damp Monday morning, hundreds of workers at Fiat Chrysler Automobile's (FCA) truck plant in Warren, Michigan, began lining up before 4 a.m. to start the 5 a.m. shift. Signs overhead read: "Let's restart." "I'm a little nervous," said Larry Smith, 53, of New Baltimore, who works on wheel alignment away from the assembly line. "They made all the precautions (and) they've done everything they can to prepare us ... I'm trusting in God." Detroit automakers on Monday said there were no issues with absenteeism as the plants opened. FCA reopened four U.S. assembly plants on Monday, including Warren Truck, on a single shift, as well as four parts plants. The reopening of car plants will be a closely watched test of whether workers across a range of U.S. industries can return to factories in large numbers without a resurgence of infections. General Motors Co, Ford Motor Co and FCA have all been preparing for weeks to reopen their North American factories in a push to restart work in an industry that accounts for about 6% of U.S. economic activity. Investors welcomed the gradual restart, sending GM's shares up more than 9% on Monday. FCA shares rose 7.3%, while Ford's were up 6.7%. Auto companies have redesigned assembly lines and retrained workers in an effort to avoid coronavirus outbreaks that could derail production again. Workers entering factories on Monday were checked by temperature monitors. Face masks or shields are standard protective equipment. Jobs such as installing seat belts that used to require two or more workers to get close together inside a vehicle have been redesigned to keep people a safe distance apart. Plastic screens have been installed along assembly lines to separate workers leaning in to the engine compartments of vehicles. Break areas have been reconfigured to keep workers six feet apart. The Detroit automakers have collaborated with each other and with the United Auto Workers to develop common coronavirus safety practices. Other automakers in the United States are adopting similar safety measures.
Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs
Fri, 25 Apr 2014General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.
