1952 Mercury Truck Built By Ford, Very Rare, Lemans Blue & A Fuel Injected 454 on 2040-cars
Gainesville, Georgia, United States
THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOR 16 PLUS YEARS. THIS WAS MY FATHER-N-LAWS TRUCK. SO, NOW SOME INFORMATION ON THE TRUCK. IT IS A 1952 MERCURY M1. THESE TRUCKS WERE BUILT IN CANADA. SOME HAVE MADE THERE WAY SOUTH. SO THEY ARE PRETTY RARE. WHEN MY FATHER-N-LAW PURCHASED THE TRUCK, THE GENTLEMAN TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD DROVE IT DOWN FROM CANADA WITH THE STRAIGHT AXLE STILL UNDER THE FRONT. THE TRUCK DROVE HORRIBLE, I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DID IT! SO NOW IT HAS BEEN CLIPPED WITH A 80'S MALIBU FRONT CLIP WITH DISC BRAKES. THIS WAS PROFESSIONALY DONE BY MIKE CHESSIER IN LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. STAINLESS BUMPERS FRONT AND REAR, NEW WIRING HARNESS ON INSIDE, A NEW A\C SETUP WAS INSTALLED AND THE 10 BOLT REAR END WAS REBUILT WITH NEW BEARINGS, 3:55 GEARS AND AN EATON LIMITED SLIP UNIT. THE WOOD IN THE BED WAS REDONE AS WELL AS THE STAINLESS STRIPS. THE INTERIOR IS FROM A FORD RANGER. THE SEAT HAS HAD A CUSTOM FRAME TO MAKE IT FIT AND SECURE. THE MOTOR IS FROM A MARINE DEALER, IT WAS STILL IN THE CRATE WHEN HE GOT IT. SO IT IS A GM 454 (MERCRUISER) WITH FACTORY FUEL INJECTION. THE TRANSMISSION IS A TURBO 350. AS FAR AS THE PAINT GOES, YOU WILL SEE SOME BLIMISHES IN THE PICTURES I HAVE TAKEN. THANKS AGAIN FOR LOOKING! |

2014 Roush Stage 3 Mustang
Fri, 26 Jul 2013Up until now, it's been some years since I managed to get behind the wheel of the hot Mustangs tuned by the folks at Roush Performance. My memories of those vehicles are fond, as the Roush up-fits usually make for better-driving examples of the iconic Ford pony, with better-tuned suspensions, excellent short-shift kits and, of course, huge additions of power. The wake-your-neighbors aural characteristics of these cars have been nothing short of outstanding, too.
But in the years since my last experience with the Roush formula, Ford's own development team has churned out some pretty potent 'Stangs. We currently live in a world where the Blue Oval will sell you a Mustang with 662 horsepower from the factory, and the recently departed Boss 302 remains one of the best Mustangs - and best sports coupes - the Autoblog crew has ever driven.
So with great-driving and hugely powerful Mustangs coming straight off the line at Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant, does the Roush package still offer that extra special something to make it stand out? I spent a week with a Stage 3 coupe to find out.
What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name
Thu, 07 Aug 2014
The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
Watch Vaughn Gittin Jr. hit the ice in his 2015 Mustang RTR
Thu, Mar 19 2015There's more than one way to get a car to drift. You can set up a purpose-built drift car. Or you can put a car on a slick surface. But in this case, Vaughn Gittin Jr. has done both. In this latest video, the driftmeister extraordinaire reveals the new livery for his 2015 Ford Mustang RTR, and put it on a frozen track, flanked by snow banks. It's the perfect place to drift any car, and this custom pony car could very well be the perfect drifter. Call it a match made in heaven. A cold, frozen-over slice of heaven where rear-drive muscle cars put on one heck of a show. Gittin, for those unfamiliar, is one of the drifting scene's foremost showmen, and like Ken Block or Tanner Foust, he competes primarily in Blue Oval machinery. Vaughn will be challenging the Formula Drift series once again in the Mustang RTR, but whether the sideways-driving championship is coming to a circuit near you or not, you can scope out a piece of the action right here.
