1936 Ford V8 Flatehead Pickup Truck 1/2 Ton Short Bed on 2040-cars
Dunnellon, Florida, United States
|
1936 ford V8 flathead "PROJECT"pickup. Truck was acquired from Arizona and was completely disassembled. partial restoration had begun by original owner? with some work to the cab and rear fenders.. We would categorize this as a preserved vehicle not running condition. many parts we worked on were professionally sand blasted down to metal. The engine which came with the truck we were told was a rare "4 Stroker 8CM Mercury V8 flathead which was the engine everyone wanted back then. engine was in non running NON functioning condition. engine and tranny are not installed in the vehicle.
We are including a complete 12 volt conversion set, GM alternator ( no VR needed) , alternator mount V8 1935-1936 original V8 engine only .complete 12 v gauge set , polymer gas tank with 12 volt sending unit installed. We are not antique ford truck experts..if something was exactly not original or my be other than stock we would not even know and are not going to state its all stock OEM so bid accordingly..that being said it all bolted up and all seemed to fit and function.. again this is not a museum piece..simply a 78 year old desert survivor that needs a good new home and another lease on life.. priced is extremely fair ..please don't try to talk us down, no trades etc..again try finding any 1936 ford pickups under $40,000 on the market today.. ( maybe Jay Leno might have one ? ) : - ) Some parts may be missing.. its not 100% this is was received in many boxes and containers so we did our best to assemble in order to inventory what we had..only glass was right door..back window was unserviceable..other did not come with truck..front window frame is missing..again this may have a few items missing..( SEE PHOTOS) what you see it what you will get.!!! We cleaned it up and had it on display until recently..motor and tranny will need complete rebuilding and condition unknown. engine is not free , tranny is free and shifts 1st and reverse ..truck had been converted to "Juice" modern hydraulic brakes...truck had been sitting in the elements for some time and will need a complete overhaul. We decided to assemble the truck basically to keep the parts together. but please understand this is a super rare 1936 Ford and they are impossible to find now..never been chopped etc. we sand blasted everything we could down to metal applied preservation coat of paint put in storage...dents and dings, normal cracks not repaired for the simple reason we were not rebuilding this truck, just preserving it for long time storage.wheels and tires are ones which came with the truck..tires are shot. it will need allot of TLC to say the least..about an inch of desert dirt was cleaned off and everything was sprayed with WD-40 ..but remains as it was when we got it.. again please know this is not a weekend project so please do not bid unless you have the skills and the tools to complete this restoration..also if your intention is to chop or rat rod this wonderful piece of automotive history please look elsewhere...We went to great lengths to get this truck and preserve it for the future..these were manufactured only one year 1936.. 1935 as well as 1937 were different trucks contrary to popular belief ...buyer is responsible for shipping and nothing will leave the garage until full payment is made...cash or cashiers check only with $500 paypal non refundable deposit required within 12 hours following end of auction. do not bid please if you cannot pay..no lowballers..we know what we have..try finding another one that's not either chopped or rusted to hell..thank you and good luck.. "NOTE" we have had a few inquiries as to shipping overseas.. we will assist all overseas buyers as best as we can.. 1914 Ford Model T at Historic Greenfield Village | AutoblogVR
Tue, Sep 6 2016We drive all of the newest and most sophisticated cars, but a 102-year-old Ford is one of our recent favorites. Senior Editor Alex Kierstein headed to historic Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI, to learn to drive a Model T in the latest AutoblogVR segment. Kierstein picks up the Model T fairly quickly, despite its controls. Though they were designed more than a century ago to be simple and easy to use, driving a Model T is complicated and counter-intuitive to the modern motorist. But by the end of his lesson, Kierstein has it all figured out and is enjoying himself. In our other new segment, Detroit Manufacturing, Senior Editor Greg Migliore showcases the city''s industrial might. He tours a modern Fiat Chrysler factory that churns out Dodge Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees and then wanders the ruins of the mythical Packard Plant. There's also some tasty and unexpected twists in this VR episode. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too! Ford Jeep Automotive History Driving Classics Videos VR Original Video Detroit ford model t tour 360video
Ford files patent for 11-speed transmission
Sat, Apr 11 2015The automatic transmission seemed limited to three or four gears for decades, and then the automotive world slowly started to see more ratios becoming available. Today, seven-, eight- or nine-speed gearboxes have become rather common. Ford even has an automatic with 10 gears on the way for the future F-150 Raptor. The Blue Oval might not be done yet, though, because the company also now has a patent on an 11-speed box. The filing, which was discovered by AutoGuide, says this idea "produces eleven forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio by selective engagement of three shift elements in various combinations," and the company outlines three different ways of making this possible. The advantage of adding one more ratio is that the gearbox should be able to keep the revs in the ideal portion of the engine's torque curve even longer. Obviously, automakers patent ideas constantly, and applying for one is no guarantee that the tech ever arrives on the market. Conversely, these documents provide a tiny glimpse at one of the brand's focuses of development. If you're mechanically minded or just curious, you can read the entire application here for the technical nitty-gritty.
