Here is a very well taken care of 1997 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Perfect car just in time for the summer. It is a 4.6L 2v with a 5 speed manual transmission with approximately 89k miles (driven daily). The car is essentially stock, other than a professionally-installed Vortech supercharger and the polished '99-'01 Cobra style wheels. It has a white exterior and a saddle leather interior. Singe-disc CD Player.

The car passed smog about three months ago, and the registration is paid through 4/2014. This car is very reliable and I drive it daily.  I have taken great care of this car while I've owned it.  Full synthetic oil changes every 3k miles and frequent waxes.  I had the T-45 manual transmission professionally rebuilt and clutch replaced by the Ford dealership in Spring 2012 (by Future Ford in Concord, CA), and I also had the convertible top professionally replaced in Fall 2012 (by Alex Auto Upholstery in Walnut Creek, CA).

This car does not have any major issues whatsoever.  I've used it as my daily driver for the last two years and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, and it is a pleasure to drive.  In full disclosure, here are a few small things I'd like the new owner to be aware of: a very minor oil leak (motor needs to be topped off with 1/2 qt or less between oil changes); slight cosmetic damage around driver side door lock (lock itself is new, replaced by Ford dealer, and 100% fully functional, see picture); a very small patch of carpet missing (perhaps 1" x 1") underneath driver side floor mat

I have all service records available since I've owned it for view, in person, upon request. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer 96-98 Mustang GT with this combination of care, low mileage, and supercharger/5-Speed combination.

Clean Title/pink slip in hand. Sold as-is, where-is, no warranty expressed or implied.  The buyer is 100% responsible for picking up the vehicle in person or arranging and paying for shipping/delivery.

Ford EcoBoost V6 hits the dyno before hitting the track

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Ford Racing just unveiled the Riley Daytona Prototype that will make its racing in the United SportsCar Racing Championship Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, and now it has released a video showing development of twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that powers the car. Using the same block and heads that can be found on a production Ford Taurus SHO, this new racecar benefits from the collaboration between Ford Racing and Ford powertrain engineers.
While we still don't know what kind of power this engine is putting out, it has definitely gotten a workout at Ford's 17G dyno. This area deep within Ford allows the automaker's racing program to work hand-in-hand with production engine programs, which can be a benefit to racing operations and production cars alike. Scroll down to hear a few people from Ford talk about the crosspollination between its racing and engine teams and watch the EcoBoost get red hot on the dyno.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).

Ford Explorer is America's new favorite police car

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

There is a new vehicle that you should keep an eye out for when you're going a little too fast down the Interstate. Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility was the bestselling new law enforcement model in the country last year, and signs show that won't be changing anytime soon.
Ford sold 14,086 Interceptor Utilities in 2013, up 140% from the year before, and 10,897 Interceptor Sedans, up 31%, according to USA Today. Overall, the brand's police sales were up 48 percent, and they were enough to boost the company's law enforcement vehicle market share by 9 points to nearly 50 percent.
The success comes just a few years after it made the decision to finally retire the long-serving Crown Victoria-based cruiser for two more modern vehicles. "We had to reinvent the category," said Chris Terry of Ford Communications to Autoblog. The automaker had to convince police departments that a unibody chassis without a V8 could perform better than a model that had been a law enforcement staple for years.
