About the Car:

This Mustang has been owned by my family since 1997 and is completely stock with no aftermarket modifications, other than an alpine alarm system. It was bought with low miles and has only been used during warm weather when it's enjoyable to drive with the convertible top down. So, I can guarantee that the low mileage shown on the odometer is accurate! The car has been garaged since my family has owned it and we've always used Mobil-1 Full Synthetic oil in the engine. The car runs and drives well. The convertible top is in good shape and operates well.

It has a Clean Connecticut Title with no liens, as shown in one of the pictures. I've only blacked-out my name/address and the title numbers in that pic. The eBay vehicle report says that the car was listed as having water damage in 1996. This was before my family owned the car, so I'm not sure if it's true. I only know that the current title I have is clean. It does not say anything about the car being salvaged or rebuilt (look at the pic). But, because the eBay report says the car had water damage, I have listed the title that way. In any case, the car has been fine for the past 16 years that we've owned it and shows no signs of water damage.

I'm only selling the car because I need the garage space for another car.

Known Issues:

While this car is in generally good shape, it does have a few known issues.

The Front Bumper Cover has some damage and missing paint. It can't been seen in the pictures because the bra covers the damage. But, if you wanted to drive the car without the bra, you might want to replace the bumper cover. They can be found online for less than a $100, plus the cost to paint it. Or, you could just leave the bra on and ignore it, like I have! Please note that the underlying structure of the bumper is fine, it's just the plastic bumper cover that is damaged. So there should be no functional or safety concern. The bra is difficult to remove and re-install, so I'm not willing to take it off for pictures. Please just understand that the bumper cover would look bad if you removed the bra.

The passenger-side rocker trim piece is pulled away from the rocker panel by about 1/2 inch and has some stress-marks in the paint. It's been that way for a while and has remained in place without getting worse. It is shown and circled in one of the pictures.

There is a scratch on the rear bumper. It is circled in one of the pictures and just looks like a small white line.

The driver side fog light does not work. The lens is broken in back and would need to be replaced.

The wheels have some scratches and a couple have curb-burn on them. It's difficult to see unless you get very close to them, so it doesn't show well in the pictures.

The driver's side seat has a small rip on its left bolster. It's shown and circled in one of the pictures.

The CD player sometimes refuses to play or eject discs. Fiddling with it for a minute usually makes it work.

The car also has the usual minor scratches and imperfections that you would expect for its age. It is not a show car, it's a driver.

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

Ford Police Interceptors dominate Michigan State Police testing

Tue, Nov 1 2016

Once again, Ford Motor Company builds the fastest police vehicles. The Blue Oval touted the news in an official release following Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department testing. Ford did very well. Except for one acceleration metric – zero to 10 miles per hour – the Blue Oval's Taurus and Explorer-based cop cars were the quickest, with particular praise coming for the EcoBoost-powered models, which bested Chevrolet and Dodge's V8-powered variants. Dearborn's products also posted the fastest average times around MSP's vehicle dynamics course. But it wasn't all positive for Ford. The only four-cylinder in the contest, the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost Ford SSP Sedan, had both the lowest top speed, 120 mph, and the slowest acceleration figures. It was also the slowest in track testing. Ford's products also failed to match the braking and top speeds of its rivals from Detroit and Auburn Hills – the rear-drive Charger Pursuit posted the best braking stats of the entire test, while the V8-powered Chevrolet Caprice hit the highest top speed, at 155 mph. Ford did score a top speed award, among SUVs, but at 132 mph, the naturally aspirated Police Interceptor Utility had to share its award with the equally fast, rear-drive Chevrolet Tahoe. The LA County Sheriff's timing isn't publicly available, but according to Ford, the EcoBoost-powered police cars put on a similarly impressive show for cops on the West Coast. We've assembled a spreadsheet on Google Docs that offers an easy to browse comparison of the different stats assembled by the Michigan State Police, and divided the vehicles between standard V6-powered sedans, high-performance sedans (EcoBoost and V8 models), and SUVs. Ford C-Max Solar Energi takes a recharging station wherever it goes

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

Companies ranging in size from small startups to major automakers have been experimenting with solar-powered charging stations for EVs and plug-in hybrids. And, of course, people have been powering vehicles with onboard solar panels for quite some time, too. Still, Ford's new C-Max Solar Energi Concept shows the promise of a truly practical implementation of solar on a production vehicle, and it may not be as far off in the future as we had thought.
As we reported a few days ago, the Solar concept makes use of a "concentrator lens" that focuses sunlight onto the Ford's roof-mounted solar panels. The special lens follows the rays of the sun to maximize the amount of charge being fed to the batteries of the car, taking about a day to fully charge the 21-mile, all-electric range of the C-Max Energi. Ford data suggests that combination might be enough to power 75 percent of all trips made by a statistically average driver. In turn, using the sun to power a vehicle could reduce yearly C02 emissions by up to four metric tons when compared with the driver of an average gasoline-powered sedan.
We've got live images of the C-Max Solar Energi Concept, jauntily tilted on its display to best present it's signature solar panels, straight from the CES floor.
