This is an amazing car that was built by some very talented professional builders in Texas back in 2010. With only 1,500 miles, it is like a newly built car from the 60's that been fully sorted! That era was the inspiration for this awesome show winning coupe.

Let's get to the technical details of this fine coupe:

The steel body has been chopped 2.5", and channeled 6" inches giving it that BITCH'N stance! It has a one of a kind, hand fabricated firewall, a full metal roof skin, a very 60's inspired dimpled and drilled visor (which is completely molded into the body), and a cool motorcycle gas cap.

The Radiator shell is from a 32 Ford and it has a handmade grille insert. I still have all the door pulls if you like that looks, I didn't care for it that much. The custom Candy-apple Green & Pearl White paint with custom scallops and pin stripes are ultra-show quality and is CRAZY eye popping! The killer pinstriping is buried deep in the clear coat, go ahead - wax it up, don't worry about distorting the stripes!

I know you'd agree; the results speak for themselves.

The motor is a classic early 60's Buick 401 "Nail-head" torque MONSTER V-8. Some features include a Drag Star long intake manifold, SIX Stromberg '97' carbs, and Sanderson lake headers (with baffles). The matching painted engine is dressed up with Fenton Valve and Sparkplug covers. Each carb has been adorned with matching air-cleaners (very Cal Custom!). The car sounds insane and runs fantastic! It's really not that loud when cruising. An MSD and Pertronix electronic ignition set up fires the powerful Buick mill. Other items include an electric fuel pump with kill switch, and a hidden battery kill switch that aids in theft prevention.

A freshly built Buick Turbo 400 3-spd automatic transmission feeds the 80's monte SS GM 10 bolt posi rear end which is running 3:08's. Noting some of the detail in this car - the bell housing is even pin striped since you can see it from the top! Nothing was overlooked in this build...

The modified Ford frame features heavily striped '32 rails, a front 4 link suspension, chrome shocks and a T-Bucket Style coil spring/shock setup is out back.

The wheels are classic 15x5 and 15x8 chrome-reverse with cutom cone caps. They are wrapped in classic bias ply 6.40x15 Firestone wide whites in front with 8.20x15 wide white "cheater slicks" on the rear.

The front brakes are DISC with Buick drum covers and chrome backing plates, the rear are heavy duty drums, GM std issue.

The interior has some very unique touches. The aluminum bomber seats with engine turned seatbacks and custom fiberglass surround makes it truly one of a kind. I get comments on them ALL THE TIME! The seat upholstery is georgous - pleated pearl white vinyl, with matching door panels, headliner, and floor/kick panels . The metal dash is filled with real nice, vintage style gauges. The shifter is a custom Lokar unit.

I can just imagine how much time and money went into this one of a kind rod. This final results screams 60's show car with the today's technology - it even has LED tail lights!

NOTE - THIS IS MY PERSONAL CAR - IT'S NOT A CONSIGNMENT!
It's titled in MY name and has a small loan on it, so JJ Best will need to be paid before they release the title.

Fiat Panda by M-Sport a one-of-a-kind rally car

Sun, Dec 12 2021

English racing and engineering firm M-Sport is probably best known for the Bentley Continental GT3 endurance racer and the Ford Fiesta R5 customer rally car. Since building the first of 294 Fiesta R5 Mk. I cars in 2013, the fleet of pint-sized competitors has won a total of more than 950 races. So when a longstanding M-Sport customer asked the company to do something special with a clapped-out, 1990s-era Fiat Panda that would retain the car's Panda-ness but also make it a stonking rally car, M-Sport decided to combine the Italian with the Anglo-American. The result is the Panda by M-Sport, a widened Panda bodyshell lowered atop a Fiesta R5 chassis and engine. Otherwise known as Panda'monium. Or Pandiesta, if you're tipsy. Just fitting the skinny Fiat over the tube-frame chassis meant widening the Panda's body shell by 14.2 inches; that slick grille is actually made of two Panda grilles to gain the required width. That surgery helps maintain the original Panda's silhouette, but more was needed to slide the Fiesta's wider track underneath. More latitudinal stretch was provided by the box-section wheel arches that, up front, flow into a front bumper that is half snowplow. In the longitudinal direction, the Pandiesta's wheelbase is 12.6 inches longer than that of the stock Panda. The Ford's 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder lives under the hood. It sends nearly 300 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque to four Pirelli P Zeros through a five-speed sequential transmission and two custom differentials. The new rear diffuser and single, central exhaust convey the seriousness of the endeavor. Hand-embossed lettering spells "PANDA 4x4" on the rear hatch in case anyone has questions about this having as much capability as the standard Panda 4x4. The interior is all Fiesta R5 save for the Panda-mimicking instrument panel and the co-driver's footrest. The latter is also inscribed with the word "PANDA." Despite the license plate, there's no question of street legality here, or rather illegality. M-Sport says the Panda'monium is ready to do any special stage on tarmac or gravel. Seems this is also the car that launches a new division for customer creations called MS-SV, which is M-Sport Special Vehicles. You can watch M-Sport owner Malcom Wilson take you on tour of the Panda by M-Sport in the video at top, and check out what the finished product can do on a track here.  Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.

2015 Ford Mustang to offer solid-rear axle, sort of

Tue, 17 Dec 2013

One of the biggest knocks against the last Ford Mustang was its solid-rear axle. Not one to actively court criticism, Ford dutifully swapped out the old-fashioned rear end for something a bit more modern in the redesigned 2015 Mustang, adding an independent rear suspension across the board.
While an IRS Mustang is great news for those that value handling and ride comfort, there's one big group that it's bad news for - drag racers. See, a solid-rear axle is a big deal for drag racers, because not only is it more durable and cheaper, but it's better for the hard launches that can make or break a race.
To satiate this vocal demographic, Ford will sell a body-in-white version of the Stang, complete with a nine-inch rear axle, that will debut at the 2014 Performance Racing Industry show. The news came from gas2.org, which cited an unnamed employee of Ford Racing at this year's PRI show.

Detroit automakers gain market share simultaneously for first time in 20 years

Wed, 01 May 2013

While monthly sales figures might be an easy way of tracking the progression of the auto industry and individual automakers, looking at market share might be more indicative of how each company is actually standing up against its competitors. For the Detroit Three automakers, they have collectively lost almost 30 percent of the market over the last 20 years, but now, for the first time since 1993, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler have each posted market share gains at the same time.
According to Automotive News, Ford's share increased the most by 0.7 percent, GM was up 0.5 percent and Chrysler rose marginally by 0.2 percent, giving the Detroit automakers a total market share of 45.6 percent. As for the Japan's Big Three, the article reports that Toyota is up by 0.7 percent, Nissan is down the same amount and Honda has seen "little change."
