1964 convertible ford galaxie I'm selling, I've owned the car for about ten years it's been garage kept its a nice project car I have never really driven the car much over the years just been working on it a little at a time replace and restoring a few things just to name a few I have replaced the top with new pump and hoses and replaced the the heads on the engine to have it compatible with lead in the gas and added a new four barrel carb and had the dual exhaust pipes replaced along with two new flow master mufflers it runs sounds great but never had the ball joints replace so it's not driveable and there is plenty of work to be done to make it nice car and just don't have the time to put into the car which is why I'm selling. The rust issues on the car is around the bottom edge of the quarter panels and a small rust hole at the top of the trunk and the inside floor there is a small rust spot on the floor of the driver side, but the floor of the trunk is all pretty solid and good the front bumper has just some surface rust but back bumper has small rust holes on it and the front windshield is cracked needs replacing the inside seates material is good wit no tares but there is still plenty of work needs to be done inside and out of the car, so happy bidding buyer responseable for pickup or shipping $500.00 deposite do within 24 hours at the end of the auction via PayPal and the remaining balance do at the end of the 7 day auction thanks for looking.

Ford finds flex-fuel engine design plays big role in emissions output

How bad is ethanol for your engine? There's been a lot of debate on this issue as the US considers upping the biofuel content in the national gasoline supply from 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15). The ethanol industry and some scientists say higher ethanol blends show no "meaningful differences" in new engines while the oil industry says ethanol creates health risks. Researchers working at the Ford Research and Innovation Center decided to take a closer look at how a wide range of gas-ethanol blends - E0, E10, E20, E30, E40, E55 and E80 - affected the emissions coming out of a flex-fuel 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. To see the full report, printed in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, requires payment, but there is an abstract and Green Car Congress has some more details. The gist is that, "with increasing ethanol content in the fuel, the tailpipe emissions of ethanol, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, methane, and ammonia increased." At least NOx and NMHC emissions decreased. The researchers say that the effects are due to the fuel and "are expected for all FFVs," but that the way that a manufacturer calibrates the engine will affect NOx, THC, and NMOG emissions. It's this last bit that's important, since the researchers found, "Higher ethanol content in gasoline affects several fundamental fuel properties that can impact emissions. ... These changes can have positive or negative effects that can depend on engine design, hardware, and control strategy. In addition to direct emissions impacts, higher ethanol content fuel can also provide more efficient combustion and overall engine operation under part-load conditions and under knock-limited higher-load conditions." So, as we head towards more ethanol in our fuel supply (maybe), manufacturers are going to need to learn how to burn it most efficiently.

How the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor became a reality

The camouflaged Ford F-150 SVT Raptor prototype captured above blazing its way across the desert during a test run left company engineers giggling in amazement, reveals Jamal Hameedi in a new Autoweek video. Ford's global performance vehicle chief engineer, accompanied by senior exterior designer Bruce Williams, sat down with the publication to discuss the concept and development of the automaker's super off-road F-150.
Designing a high-performance pickup in 2008, right when the cost of gasoline was going through the roof, seemed insane at the time, but the team pushed forward with the innovative vehicle regardless. The interview includes plenty of Ford B-roll footage as visual candy, and the conversations include discussions about exterior design, ride comfort, anti-lock brake tuning, suspension engineering, weight reduction and why it was necessary to make the Raptor visually different than Ford's standard F-150. The model's origin story is very interesting, and you can learn more about it by watching the video below.
