1965 Ford Falcon Futura Sprint on 2040-cars
North Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
|
1965 Ford Falcon Futura Sprint, 289 4-barrel V8, C4 3-speed automatic. Carburetor is an AFB 4-barrel. Non-running at this time, engine cranks and fires. Body is straight and there is absolutely no rust except for surface rust. This is a desert car and the paint is faded and worn. The interior is dried out. All weatherstripping is dried and disintergrating. I have installed the engine and transmission but do not have it running at this time. Engine was dissassembled and inspected; bearings and rings appeared to be in good shape (minimal wear on the bearings, cross-hatching on cylinder walls still visible). New timing chain and gears, water pump, motor mounts, flexplate, starter, plugs, wires, distributor and many other small parts. Car comes with one extra driver's door, front and rear bumpers, trim, door windows. A cheap, ill-fitting set of Tri-Y headers will be part of the package although the stock cast iron manifolds are on the engine.
Drum brakes front and rear. Rear drums are missing, fronts are on the car. ,, This car is solid and is a great project. Should not take that much more to get it running. I will continue to work on the car until it is either running or sold. |

Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR
Fri, Jun 5 2015As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though. Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Ford ditching Microsoft in favor of BlackBerry QNX for next-gen Sync?
Mon, 24 Feb 2014Ask the average consumer - at least, those who follow the goings-on in the automotive industry - which carmaker they'd most closely associate Microsoft, and the answer you'd most likely get would be Ford. The Blue Oval automaker, after all, was at the forefront of bringing Microsoft technology into cars with its pioneering Sync system, and, though reality didn't turn out as such, Ford's CEO was recently touted as a potential future head of the Redmond-based software giant. But that relationship, according to the latest reports, could be coming to an end.
Alan Mullaly kiboshed the idea of leaving Dearborn for Redmond, but more importantly Ford is tipped to be ditching Microsoft in developing its next-generation Sync system. In its place, Ford is expected to partner with BlackBerry's QNX division.
Now, before you go balking "BlackBerry?! But they're finished!" consider that QNX is (or at least was) an independent entity that Research In Motion (as BlackBerry's Ontario-based parent company was then known) just happened to have bought back in 2010. QNX provides control systems to everything from nuclear power plants and UAVs to automakers like Audi, BMW and Porsche.
