1965 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr Sdn 289 V8 Automatic 26500 Original Miles on 2040-cars
Rockmart, Georgia, United States
Up for sale is my personal 1965 Ford Fairlane 500 4 door sedan. I found this car sitting inside of a warehouse over a year ago and bought it from the original owners Grandson.
The car had been sitting inside since 1990. I was told the odometer was indeed the actual mileage and it is not staggered like they do when they roll over. I brought the car home and pulled the fuel tank off, cleaned it out, treated it, cleaned the fuel lines and carburetor, Undercoated the entire under carriage, changed the fluids, re installed the fuel tank and have been driving it around town since. All of the glass is good, new wiper blades, all lights work, blinkers, etc. heater works good, AM radio plays good, has sport coupe flipper hubcaps, original spare and jack assembly still in place, 289 engine runs smooth, transmission shifts as should. Car needs a minor restoration It's NEEDS include, brake adjustment, likes to pull to the left a little, bumpers need re chromed ,will need tires, these have good tread but are dry from sitting, needs front floor pan patch panels, the rear is solid and the trunk pan is solid, as are the rocker panels, under neath the doors etc. Car received a repaint in the mid 1980's It will need to be stripped and repainted, there are some minor body flaws such as dings and a couple of small dents but nothing major, car does have some old filler that will need to be repaired, but not much, it was not a rust bucket nor is it a rust bucket. It's a very fun old car to drive, gets a lot of attention , I am just ready for a new toy. Car comes with a legal bill of sale and a copy of its current registration which you may use in your state to obtain a title and tag. One year only body style Please ask all questions prior to bidding, do not bid unless you plan on buying. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction end, you may have as long as you need for transporting at no cost, you pay all transport cost. Thanks |

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?
Sun, 28 Jul 2013Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.
Ford barely edges surging Chrysler for Canadian sales crown in best year ever
Thu, Jan 8 2015The auto industry in the US showed strong results through much of 2014 with sales regularly growing year-over-year for many brands. That same trend carried over in the Great White North, as well. Canada posted its best numbers ever with 1.85 million units sold, up about 100,000 vehicles over 2013. The country nearly had a new market leader, too. The big winner among our neighbors to the north in 2014 was Ford with 291,951 vehicles sold, up 3 percent from 2013, according to Reuters. That success also handed the company the sales crown for the fifth consecutive year. In large part, the strong result came from the company's popular trucks, which represented about 80 percent of overall sales. "Ford moved into the number one position in September and didn't look back," said a note to clients by DesRosiers Automotive Consultants quoted by Reuters. However, the Blue Oval didn't exactly take an overwhelming lead for the year. The company nearly had to hand over the sales trophy to FCA after the company rallied in the latter part of the year. The Italian-American conglomerate had its best results ever to nip at the Ford's heels and move 290,004 units for 2014, a 12-percent improvement from last year. Jeep especially helped the bottom line with over 50-percent growth, according to Reuters. Only two other brands were able to break the 200,000-vehicle barrier in Canada for 2014. General Motors came in third place overall with 249,800 sales, up 6.3 percent. The combined Toyota and Lexus also barely jumped the hurdle with 200,851 units moved, a 2.8 percent improvement.
Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue
Fri, 15 Aug 2014Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.
