2000 FORD F350, EXTENDED CAB, 4X4, POWERSTROKE 7.3 DIESEL THAT RUNS EXCELLENT, ALL POWER EQUIPMENT,COMPLETELY SERVICED AND READY FOR WORK OR TRAVEL. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK A YEAR AGO FROM A FRIEND TO TOW BOATS FOR AMERACAT CATAMARANS. I CHOSE THE SIX SPEED FOR THE FUEL ECONOMY AND POWER FOR PULLING BOATS IN AND OUT OF THE LAUNCH RAMPS. WE NEVER ACTUALLY USED THE TRUCK FOR TOWING BECAUSE WE FOUND THAT WE COULD HIRE IT OUT FOR LESS MONEY THAN WE COULD RUN OUR OWN TRUCK USING OUR PEOPLE ON THE PAYROLL. WE HAVE BEEN USING THE TRUCK REGULARLY TO CHASE PARTS BUT IT IS SURPLUS TO US AND DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO MAINTAIN AND INSURE A TRUCK WE DON'T NEED.

WE HAVE BEEN ALL THROUGH THE TRUCK FROM FRONT TO REAR IN ORDER TO ASSURE OURSELVES OF DEPENDABILITY WHEN TRAVELING BACK AND FORTH TO LOUISIANA WHERE WE SELL MOST OF OUR BOATS. I'LL GO OVER SOME OF THE MAINTENANCE WE PERFOMED......NEW TIRES AND ALUMINUM FACTORY 17" WHEELS A YEAR AGO.......NEW CLUTCH, BEARING,PRESSURE PLATE AND FLYWHEEL......ALL NEW AIR CONDITIONING INCLUDING COMPRESSOR........ALL NEW EXHAUST FRONT TO BACK.......NEW FILTERS........FLUIDS........NEW BRAKES ALL THE WAY AROUND.......NEW FACTORY 2011 BED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT HAD BEEN SIDESWIPED.....NEW TAIL GATE AND LIGHTS......NEW U JOINTS......NEW REAR BUMPER.......NEW BELTS AND HOSES.......I CAN'T REMEMBER IT ALL WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS AND RECEIPTS.    THE TRUCK HAS NEVER USED A DROP OF OIL OR ANY FLUIDS. TOTALLY DEPENDABLE AND PULLS LIKE A TRACTOR.  SHE NEVER MADE EVEN ONE TRIP TO LOUISIANA OR ANYWHERE ELSE BUT I WOULD DRIVE IT ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY....JUST FILL HER WITH DIESEL AND TAKE OFF. I THINK THERE IS A LITTLE RUST IN THE FRONT CHROME BUMPER BUT NONE IN THE BODY.THE MILEAGE TODAY IS 163,368 AND THAT MAY CHANGE BY A SMALL AMOUNT AS WE USE THE TRUCK OCCASIONALLY. THE ALUMINUM TOOL BOX AND TANK IN THE PICTURE ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE.

I DON'T RECOMMEND BUYING FROM PICTURES SO COME ON DOWN TO SUNNY FLORIDA AND CHECK IT OUT OR SEND SOMEONE YOU TRUST TO DO IT FOR YOU. LOW BALLERS AND TIRE KICKERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME AND ALL OFFERS AND TRADES WILL BE CHEERFULLY CONSIDERED NO MATTER HOW RIDICULOUS. CALL STEVE AT 772-201-1905 TILL 11PM EASTERN TIME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOD BLESS.    772-201-1905 STEVE

Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan

Sat, Sep 10 2022

When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.

Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems

Fri, 29 Mar 2013

A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.

Recharge Wrap-up: Daimler spending big for fuel cells, Ford Go!Drive experiment advances

Fri, Mar 20 2015

Ford's Go!Drive experiment is entering its beta phase in London. The project, which is one of the automaker's global smart mobility experiments, uses a mobile app for on-demand carsharing of Ford Focus Electric and Ford Fiesta vehicles. The beta phase involves increasing the number of available vehicles from 20 to 50, and collecting new data from users. The program offers one-way rentals and guaranteed parking, with no membership fees and a cost of 26 cents per minute. Ford hopes to get 2,000 drivers involved in the program. The company expects cost savings "in the range of hundreds of millions of euros until 2020," while maintaining its workforce of 18,700 employees and adding 150 vocational training positions. The upgrades will allow the plant to become a center for building more efficient engines, hybrid powertrains and fuel cell systems. "Alternative drive systems are an important element of our future mobility," says Mercedes-Benz's Markus Schafer. "Their share of automotive production is set to steadily rise over the next few years, complementing our highly efficient engines within the portfolio. This is what we have laid the groundwork for today." Read more at Reuters, or in the press release below. The Department of Energy is providing $20 million in funding for the development of more efficient high speed industrial motors and drives. Ditching old motors and gearboxes for ones that use integrated power electronics could help decrease the energy consumption of the industrial sector, which currently uses more than 25 percent of the electricity generated in the US. The projects being funded will reduce losses and decrease the size of drive systems used in industries like petroleum refining and natural gas, which could affect the lifecycle efficiency of transportation fuels.
