Thank you for reviewing my 2002 F250 4x4 Lariat pick up NO RESERVE auction!

This vehicle is being sold as-is/as specified and will go to the highest bidder at the end of the 5 day auction.  Clear title is in hand and ready for new owner.

This truck runs but is in need of a few repairs (as specified below) to make it road safe and work ready for the long term (in my opinion).  This truck would make a great investment for a person that has the skills and tools to complete the various repairs needed.

Here are the truck specifics for your consideration.

- 2002 F250 Lariat 4x4 crew cab - short bed pick up truck
- 4x4
- Auto trans
- 5.4L gas engine
- 136,000 (engine was professionally rebuilt at 90,000 miles)
- 8' Western ultra-mount snow plow
- Warn manual hubs

Here is a list of the various improvements and/or repairs needed to make this truck fully functional and ready for work.

- Pick up rear bed has severely rusted and has lost it's attachment/support/partial floor strength near cab.  Recommend a replacement bed or a steel or aluminum stake body bed.
- Needs rear bumper
- Needs 4 new tires.
- Needs battery hold down bracket/bolt
- Needs passenger side - telescopic side view mirror (original mirror was struck)
- Needs passenger side chrome/replacement cab step (missing)
- Needs passenger side rear tail light lens
- Needs replacement 8' snow plow steel cutting edge
- Trans shift lever (at steering column) needs either adjustment or replacement.  Lever is somewhat loose and does not crisply engage each gear selected.
- Rust has broken through a few roof areas just below/around cab marker lights (as pictured).

Other recommendations.

- Change all fluids, filters, etc.
- New exterior paint
- Fully detail/clean interior

Please be sure to let me know if I can be of additional help or answer any questions you may have.  This truck is located in Wheeling, IL.  60090.  Feel free to let me know if you would like to stop by to test drive or inspect the truck before placing a bid.

Thank you for your time and best wishes!

Joe

Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?

Sun, 28 Jul 2013

Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.
