Here is a 1988 Ford f250 for sale that I purchased in 2006 from a guy in Portland, Oregon area. I used it to haul plywood and things from Lowes, Home Depot, ect. Also used it to get to work once when my main vehicle was in the shop. It isn't a show truck, but it is a good hauler or work truck. It has some scratches, small dents, blemishes, etc. but not all that bad for a truck thats 25 years old. It hasn't been beaten, used as a farm truck, or been out going through mud holes while in my possession. Reason I'm selling is because most of my home projects are done, and rarely drive the truck anymore. So I would rather someone use it than have it as a lawn ornament. It has been a good truck for me and has been giving oil changes and tune-ups as scheduled for routine maintenance. If it ever needed anything I would do my best to get it fixed... since I've owned it the only work that has been needed is battery replacement, Altenator replacement, and fuel tank selector valve. Other items include fuel filter replaced (just because it never had been), changed both brake calipers (driver side had a issue) and regular oil changes, plugs wires, brake pads, air filters, etc.... With the history of the truck out of the way, here is a list of pros and cons....

PROS:

  1. Not a Rust bucket. (some rust as shown in pictures)
  2. Runs like it should.
  3. Shifts like it should.
  4. 4x4 works like it should.
  5. Recently had tune up/ oil change.
  6. (4) New Shocks all around. (less than 100 miles on them)
  7. (4) New Michelin Tires. (less than 100 miles on them)
  8. (4) New Chrome Wheels. (less than 100 miles on them)
  9. New 4-speaker Pioneer stereo put in last year.
  10. Interior in good condition.
  11. Doesn't burn oil.
  12. New lockout hubs (both sides)
  13. Both gas tanks are used.
  14. 3/4 ton, 4x4.
  15. Good heat in winter time.

CONS:

  1. Bed has some rust. (as shown in pictured)
  2. Small play in steering wheel. (never really bothered me, but should mention)
  3. Smallest of oil leak. (Mechanic thinks it may be coming from timing chain cover)
  4. May have exhaust leak on passenger side exhaust manifold gasket. (not super loud or anything, just noticed worn gasket the last time I installed new plugs/wires)
  5. Fuel gauge pegs to full reading (when full) and stays there until about half tank.
  6. A/C unit is all there but needs charged or inspected. (Always drove with windows down)

With the f250 being 25 years old, it is being sold AS-IS. I have done my best to honestly describe the truck to the best of my ability. This is just a good ol truck for somone looking for a hauler/daily/work truck that won't empty your bank account. Also I prefer local pick-up with cash, but will allow shipping if arranged entirley by buyer. Basically payment would be sent cashiers check and cleared by my bank and then I would help with getting it on transfer truck or trailer that you arranged. Any questions please contact me via Ebay message (I will check it a few times a day).......THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Junkyard Gem: 1971 Mercury Comet 2-Door Sedan

Sat, Sep 10 2022

When Ford introduced the original Maverick for the 1970 model year, Dearborn tradition required that a Mercury-badged version be created. That car ended up being the Comet, built from the 1971 through 1977 model years. Here's one of those first-year Comets in rough but recognizable condition, found in a Denver self-service yard not long ago. The Comet name had spent the 1960s affixed to the flanks of Mercurized Ford Falcons (1960-1965) and Fairlanes (1966-1969). Since the Maverick was the successor of the Falcon — sales of which went into an irrecoverable downward spiral once its sportier Mustang first cousin hit the streets — it made sense to move the Comet name over to the Mercury version. Nearly every American Mercury model ever sold was a U.S.-market Ford model with a different name and some gingerbread slapped on. Notable exceptions to this tradition include the 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar (mechanically based on the Contour but with a unique body) and the 1991-1994 Mercury Capri (an Australian-built mashup of Mazda components borrowed from the Ford Laser). The Comet was by far the cheapest Mercury model available in 1971, though it was considered more prestigious than its Maverick counterpart. The price tag on the '71 Comet two-door sedan started at $2,217 (about $16,505 in 2022 dollars), while the '71 Maverick two-door sedan cost $2,175 ($16,193 today). Meanwhile, AMC would sell you a new Hornet two-door sedan for one dollar less than a Maverick, Chevrolet had the Nova coupe for a dollar more than the Maverick, and Plymouth offered the Valiant Duster for $2,313 ($17,220 now). Toyota had a Maverick competitor as well that year, with the Corona at $2,150 for the sedan and $2,310 for the coupe. Having driven every one of the aforementioned models, I'd take the Duster if I went back in time and had to choose one (as a 1969 Corona owner, I'm not a fan of the 1971 facelift, though the Corona's build quality beats the Duster's). The build sticker on this car tells us that it was built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant (where Transits and F-150s are made today) and sold through the Los Angeles district sales office (there was a DSO in Denver, so it's a near-certainty that this car didn't start out in Colorado). The paint started out as Bright Blue Metallic (it's neither bright nor metallic 51 years down the road) and the interior was done up in Medium Blue Cloth & Vinyl.

2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost flogged and analyzed by Ignition

Mon, 13 Oct 2014

Aside from the way it looks and perhaps its independent rear suspension, the biggest bit of news on the 2015 Mustang may be the inclusion of its 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. That blown mill marks the first time since the Mustang SVO of the '80s that a turbo has been fitted under the engine of Ford's pony car.
The Mustang EcoBoost is the subject of the latest episode of Ignition from Motor Trend, giving us a great look at the technical, nitty-gritty side of the turbocharged coupe. Covering it from bow to stern, host Carlos Lago walks us through the boosted Ford before taking to the track for some driving impressions, with particular praise given to the low-end grunt of the 2.3-liter mill.
Check out the full video and then let us know which 2015 Mustang has your interest piqued the most - the EcoBoost four, the 5.0L V8 or the entry-level V6.
