This 2008 Ford F150 is in excellent mechanical condition with 98,000 miles.  The aesthetics are pleasing as well as I've received many compliments on the truck.  Extras include, Edge programmable performance chip which has built in code reader should anything go wrong with the truck, flowmaster cat back muffler system, Accel super coils, Bosch platinum plus 4 plugs that were just installed for the 100k service, K&N cold air intake system, poweraid throttle body spacer with helix bore, and a evermaxx battery that is only 2 years old.  The hoses are new, but I would replace the serpentine belt at 100k.  Items left to service for 100k are differential fluid to change, serpentine belt to change, and universal joints are starting to get some play in them, so I would change those too.  The transmission has been serviced, I've used synthetic Mobile One oil since the first oil change and most of the service was performed by me.  The BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires still have plenty of life in them.  They are the load range E tires with a 10 ply strength rating and an actual 3 ply sidewall, so they are a RUGGED tire.  The tires will hold up to 80 PSI for towing, but I run 38-40 PSI around town.  The truck also has a brake controller for electric trailer brakes.  The windows are tinted, there is a tool box on the back, rhino liner in the bed, and I recently did a two tone off-road paint scheme with herculiner on the bottom half of the truck for a rugged two tone look.  Truck runs great, sounds great, and will pull about 8k pounds with no problems (my camper weighed 5k loaded).  Transmission was flushed 3 times during its life and at 100k I would recommend replacing the filter and draining torque converter.  I am the original owner and have the original paperwork and manual.  This is a non-smoker, no pets, and no rust truck which was purchased and remained in SC during its entire life since purchased new here in SC.  Truck also has a hidden hitch brand trailer hitch as you can see in the photos.  Everything works.  Air conditioning, CD player with MP3 and external audio input, all work great.  Truck is reliable and can be driver anywhere from here.  If you need to fly in to pick it up, you can rest assured it has been taken care of and will be a reliable truck for years to come.  The fuel mileage on these, especially after engine upgrades is not that great in my opinion.  This truck gets 11-12 mpg around town and will not get more than 18 hwy.  With that said it runs very very impressively smooth on the highway and if you're not careful, you'll be cruising easily at 90-100mph if you tend to have a heavy foot.  I am selling the truck as my house if for sale and I am moving, and I no longer have a camper to pull or ATVs to pull.  This would be a great truck at a great price.  You'll not find one on a dealer lot in this good of condition at this price.

A closer look at the 2015 Ford F-150

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Despite having to share Ford's Detroit Auto Show stand with the hot new 2015 Mustang, the brand-new F-150 was arguably an even more important debut. Why? Ford moved some 700,000 examples of its F-Series truck in 2012, making it not only the best-selling pickup truck, but the top-selling vehicle in the US, by a long-shot.
The 2015 F-150 raises the bar for pickup trucks in a big way, with big-time use of aluminum. Because of this, roughly 700 pounds have been removed from the truck's overall weight, making it even more efficient than before, while still offering all of the capability that pickup owners expect. And with a host of engines under the hood, including a new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, the 2015 F-150 will surely offer something for everyone.
During the Detroit Auto Show, west coast editor Michael Harley took a closer look at the new F-150, talking to some of the truck's engineers. Have a look at the full video, below.

Detroit automakers mulling helping DIA avoid bankruptcy looting

Tue, 13 May 2014

It's not really a secret that the city of Detroit is in lots and lots of trouble. Even with an emergency manager working to guide it through bankruptcy, a number of the city's institutions remain in very serious danger. One of the most notable is the Detroit Institute of Arts, a 658,000-square-foot behemoth of art that counts works from Van Gogh, Picasso, Gauguin and Rembrandt (not to mention a version of Rodin's iconic "The Thinker," shown above) as part of its permanent collection.
Throughout the bankruptcy, the DIA has been under threat, with art enthusiasts, historians and fans of the museum concerned that its expansive collection - valued between $454 and $867 million by Christie's - could be sold by the city to help square its $18.5-billion debt.
Now, though, Detroit's hometown automakers could be set to step up and help save the renowned museum. According to a report from The Detroit News, the charitable arms of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler could be set to donate $25 million as part of a DIA-initiated campaign, called the "grand bargain." As part of the deal, the DIA would seek $100 million in corporate donations as part of a larger attempt at putting together an $816-million package that would be paid to city pension funds over 20 years. Such a move would protect the city's art collection from being sold off.

Ex-PR chief Vines accuses Ford of bugging cars, phones

Fri, 24 Oct 2014

Jason Vines, former head of communications at Ford among other automakers, is accusing the Blue Oval of bugging his company phone and his car during the Firestone tire recall for the Explorer in 2001. The allegations have come to light in Vines' upcoming book What Did Jesus Drive? Crisis PR in Cars, Computers and Christianity.
According to The Detroit News, which has an advance copy of the book, Vines (pictured above) claims that after leaving the company, someone with security within Ford advised him that he had been bugged around the time of the recall. The allegations don't stop there, though. Vines further contends that he might not have been the only one to get this treatment, noting that then-general counsel John Rintamaki also believed he was being listened to.
According to The Detroit News, even if it had been a company phone, recording Vines without his knowledge still would have been a felony under Michigan law.
