Too many toys and unfortunately this one has to go.  Up for auction is my 1999 Ford F150 Lightning. I purchased this truck in 2009 from a gentleman in Illinios.  The truck had about 85000 miles when I bought it and wasn't driven much and cosmetically was in great condition.  Upon purchasing the truck I went to have it tuned and while inspecting the spark plugs, one was found to be stripped... common problem with the 99-00 trucks... not enough threads!!!!  To repair the heads was going to involve removing the cab, a thus the build began.  The heads were rebuilt and all 8 plug holes were heli-coiled and welded from the inside... The RIGHT way!!!   While the heads were off I decided to have them fully ported, as well as all new valves and seals.  It was no use putting an awesome set of heads on a stock block so that was next on the list.  Block was rebuilt with a forged steel crank, Oliver rods and Diamond pistons.  Basically bulletproof shortblock to 1000hp.  Long block was assembled with all ARP hardware and ARP head studs.  While inside we decided to replace the old 99-00 style 9 row intercooler with the more efficient and non-leak prone 01 up 10 row version, along with the 01 up mid-plate.  The supercharger was off and why not port it too.  It was sent to Stiegmeier and was stage 4 ported.  Upon return the silencer holes were filled and we were ready for boost.  A 6 pound lower and 2.8 inch upper was installed and on the dyno we saw right at 15 PSI.  With the current tune it is making right at 415 hp and is asking for more fuel.  The injectors are at 100% duty cycle and will only need bigger injectors to hit the 450hp mark.  The engine build was all done by Strictly Performance in Houston, Texas as well as the tuning.  Originally the truck was tuned on a Diablosport Chipmaster Revolution Chip, but we had issues with the chip coming loose from the ECM.  We took out the chip and a new ECM was installed and re-tuned with a Diablosport Predator handheld tuner` (Included in sale)...  no more loose chips and a lot dang easier to tune.  Because a new ECM was installed I had to have the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) turned off.  This will need to be reprogrammed to the keys but is currently turned off in the tune... just never got around to it and its always in the garage and locked up anyway.  Upon completion of the sale I can have the PATS reprogrammed for an additional $150.00 or you can take it to any performance shop or Ford dealership and have it done.  As far as the rest of the truck...

It has all new brakes and rotors, rebuilt rearend, TA rear end girdle, JLP long bars, Edelbrock shocks, Hotchkiss rear leaf springs, new OEM soft Tonneau cover (Good luck finding another one of these), new OEM steering wheel (Original was starting to wear), LFP single blade throttle body, C&L upper plenum, 1/2 inch phenolic spacer, polished C&L inlet elbow, K&N filter, new IAC valve, shorty antenna, LFP dual 90mm idlers with billet bracket, recent battery, new intercooler pump, new energy suspension sway bar end links, new idler arm, new pitman arm, driveshaft safety loop, new headlight, tailights, foglights, Pioneer AVIC X930BT with nav, bluetooth and all the goodies, Rockford Fosgate amp, 2 10 inch Rockford subs in a custom box from BestBuy, Rockford mids in doors and B-pillars, Entire truck was Dynomatted inside, Expedition white side mirror covers, chrome 01-02 wheels (New Nitto 555 out back)  Fronts are ready to be replaced soon, 01 up LED third brake light, 01 and up upper and lower grills, Autometer Ultralite volt and boost gauge in A-Pillar Pod, Electric fan from a 2004 Mustang GT, new Ford OEM coilpacks, rear sliding window (Tinted) billet door lock knobs, billet tilt lever, new Ford OEM column shift with over drive button (Was looking kinda dingy), new OEM Ford floor mats, recharged ICE cold AC (No leaks), cruise, tilt, power windows, New door lock actuators, BBK shorty headers, custom mid pipe (No cats), Magnaflow catback, HID headlights...  the list goes on...

Issues...  Leaks oil about the size of a quarter when parked for a week or so (Haven't had much time to address but it looks to be from the oil pan drain plug).  As stated previously will need new front tires in the next 5-10k miles, felt strip on rear slider is missing and has been since I purchased it...  doesn't leak water, just don't have one nor bothered to get one, the PATS issue (Which again I can handle for an additional $150.00 after sale, One keyfob remote needs a battery (Comes with 2 sets of keys, no spare tire (Never had one), no jack (Never had one), no windshield washer bottle (I never let it get that dirty or drive it much)  can be bought online for 30 bucks... wiring harness still there, no wires cut (I think the original owner had a meth injection tank and took it out), that's about it.

All in all a great truck, a fast truck, a dependable truck, and a very well looked after truck.  You will not be disappointed and my feedback rating should speak to that as well.  Truck has a clear Texas title.  $1000.00 non refundable deposit due within 72 hours of auction ending.  Final payment must be Certified check or wire transfer that must clear a bank prior to taking receipt of truck.  Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping costs and or arrangements.   I will be available to meet a truck driver or assist in any logistics therein.  Truck is currently registered and inspected in Texas but tags and stickers will be removed prior to shipment.  Miles may change between now and end of auction but will not exceed 800 miles of current odometer reading.  As with any used vehicle there is no warranty expressed or implied.

Thanks for taking the time to view this auction... Good luck and happy bidding.

Ford's Explorer-based Police Interceptor to get 365-hp EcoBoost option

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

Speeders beware, the police are going to be getting quite a bit faster. Ford has just announced that it will be offering its 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost V6 in the Explorer Police Interceptor. The new engine will be joining the existing 3.7-liter V6. The 365-horsepower, 350-pound-foot mill should be familiar to consumers as the powerplant that's found in the Ford Taurus SHO (and its LEO equivalent, the Taurus Police Interceptor) and the Ford Explorer Sport. It should also provide quite a kick in the pants to officers used to the naturally aspirated 3.7 and its 304 ponies and 279 pound-feet of torque.
The move to the more potent powerplant was born out of all the equipment officers need to carry on a day-to-day basis. These days, there's so much stuff that police need on a regular basis, that there's a genuine market for a faster Police Interceptor Utility, as it's known officially. The Explorer-based cruiser has already accounted for 68 percent of Ford's LEO sales in 2013, and that's with just the 3.7, and we'd only expect that number to increase once the twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 is available. Ford won't offer up any indication of what the take rate will be on the new engine, but we're guessing it'll be fairly high.
The success of the Explorer PI couldn't have come at a better time for Ford. The decision to end Crown Victoria production was not a popular one with police, and combined with Chevrolet and Dodge diving into the LEO market feet first, Ford hasn't been performing as well as it's wanted to. The Explorer has been helping it turn around, though. And with the inclusion of the EcoBoost, Ford also has a legit competitor for the Chevrolet Tahoe on the big utility side of the police market.

2015 Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition says 'happy birthday' in New York

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Fifty years ago this week, Ford debuted the first-ever Mustang at the New York World's Fair. And to celebrate, the Blue Oval is offering up this special, 50th Anniversary Edition 2015 Mustang, which makes its debut at the New York Auto Show. It'll be a seriously limited affair, with only 1,964 examples of the special edition Mustang slated to be produced (the number chosen to coincide with the 'Stang's first year in production). But for those who raise their hands for the 50th Anniversary package, there's a pretty sweet package in store.
The 50th Anniversary Edition is based on the 2015 Mustang GT with the Performance Pack, and is only available in two colors: Kona Blue, or Wimbledon White (pictured). The car also comes fully loaded - the only option for buyers to choose is the transmission. Should you opt for the six-speed automatic, you'll get a limited-slip rear differential with a 3.55:1 final-drive ratio (the 50th Anniversary car is also the only way to get a slushbox-equipped 'Stang with the Performance Pack). Selecting the six-speed manual 'box will net you a Torsen differential with a 3.73:1 ratio. All 50th Anniversary cars will be powered by Ford's 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V8, estimated to produce more than 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque in the 2015 Mustang.
Inside, there's a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel, with a similar detail found on the instrument panel, shift boot, door inserts, seats, and center armrest. Two-tone leather/black upholstery is also part of the 50th Anniversary package, and of course, there's a special logo on the seats.

Want a V8 on the cheap? Buy a work truck

Thu, Aug 3 2017

In case you didn't notice, V8 cars have gotten pretty expensive. If you want a modern muscle car like the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT, or Chevy Camaro SS, you'll need between $34,000 and $38,000 for a stripped out example of one. The cheapest of those is the Challenger, and the priciest is the Camaro. These are also the cheapest V8 cars the companies offer. But if you absolutely have to have a V8 for less, there is an option, work trucks. As it turns out, all of the Big Three offer their most basic work trucks with V8s. And because they're so basic, they're pretty affordable, especially when sticking with the standard two-wheel drive. A Ram 1500 Tradesman with a V8 can be had for as little as $29,840, which is a little more than $4,000 less than a Challenger R/T. For a bit more at $30,275, you can have a Chevy Silverado W/T, almost $8,000 less than a Camaro SS. The most expensive is the V8 Ford F-150 starts at a starting price of $30,670, which is a bit over $5,000 less than the Mustang. Of course you'll be in an ultra bare bones vehicle with few comforts, and the price will go up if you add stuff, but we're bargain hunting here, and sacrifices are sometimes necessary. Besides, what you lose in comfort, you gain in loads of cargo space and towing (try to look at the bright side). Also, as a side note, all three trucks are available with optional electronic locking rear differentials. At the discounted price of these trucks, you still get a heaping helping of power. The most potent of the trio is the Ram 1500 Tradesman with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque generated by a 5.7-liter V8. Compared with the Challenger R/T, the Ram is up by 20 horsepower and they're tied for torque. The value proposition is even more stark between the two vehicles when looking at the price per horsepower. Each pony in the Ram costs $75.54, while the Challenger charges you $90.91. The Challenger is also more expensive per horsepower than its close competitors. The F-150's 5.0-liter V8 is just barely behind the Ram with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That's still more power than the Challenger, and it matches the torque of the 2017 Mustang GT. On the down side, it still would be down 20 horsepower on that same 2017 Mustang, and it's behind by 60 horsepower and 20 pound-feet on the new 2018 Mustang GT. The F-150 also just edges out the Mustang in the dollar per horsepower measure.
