This 1976 Ford F100 Custom Long Wheel base with 3 speed automatic transmission Pickup is certainly an unusual find, especially the way its been maintained overall and a thumping 302 5.0 L under the hood. With a great color combination and no signs of hard labor in its past, it's a unique opportunity to pick up an overlooked piece of Ford history.

You've seen other mid-70s Ford pickups clattering and rattling down the interstate, held together with wire and duct tape, but you've never seen one this nice. From the sparkling blue paint, this truck has been well maintained and beautifully preserved. There is a matching chrome rear and front bumper and the only modifications include the polished bed rails and chrome window guards.

The blue interior offers fabric carpets and leather seats that give this custom an upscale feel. Everything remains in great condition with very, very little wear, even the carpets. The three speed automatic transmission is a throwback to an earlier era, but it moves through the gears neatly and fits this truck's personality just fine. The options list is light, but that's how it was with pickup trucks in the days before they were luxury cruisers. A full complement of gauges keeps an eye on the engine and they're all in top operating condition.

Ford's rugged and torquey 302 cubic inch V8 provides motivation.. Of course, it's hard to leave a Ford V8 alone, so it wears a new Holley carburetor atop an Edelbrock intake, although both components have been hidden under an open-element air cleaner that looks like it was nabbed from a 427 Galaxie. . With a swell of torque and a wonderful sound from the dual exhaust system, you'll enjoy piloting this big truck as much as any vintage muscle car, and performance is quite good. As you'd expect, the chassis is almost rust-free, showing only signs of age, but not abuse. Vehicle runs and drives excellent.

2016 Green Truck of the Year, Commercial Green Car of the Year finalists

Not only are commercial-grade haulers getting more green love lately, they're getting more different kinds of green love. The 2016 Green Truck of the Year, the second time the award has been handed out, is being decided by judges from Green Car Journal and the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. This year the award is joined by the new 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year, which crowns one of the little vans increasingly used by small business as cargo and delivery vehicles. The Green Truck of the Year finalists are the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax (pictured), Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma. The first three of those were on last year's list, but since they are completely new or upgraded for 2016 - Ford with its all-aluminum body, the General Motors twins with the new diesel Duramax engine - they qualify for entry again. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel won last year. The Commercial Green Car finalists are the Chevrolet City Express, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City. Toyota, Ford not interested in FCA merger

Sergio Marchionne will preach the benefits of mergers to anyone who'll listen, but his calls for industry consolidation may be falling on deaf ears. At least, that is, the ears of those who the Fiat Chrysler chief would most like to bend. Not only is General Motors uninterested, but according to The Detroit News, neither are Toyota or Ford. "It's something we would not be interested in," said Toyota's North American chief Jim Lentz, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Toyota Technical Center. "At 10 million (vehicles) we have enough scale right now to do what we need to do. There really would be no advantage for us." Toyota isn't the only one unenthused by the prospect of merging with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The Detroit News also reports that Ford, though it may yet to have been approached by Marchionne, wouldn't be interested either. "We're not a suitor for FCA," said Ford CFO Bob Shanks. "We don't see that type of opportunity as one that applies to us." With GM, Toyota, and Ford expressing disinterest in Marchionne's merger idea, the FCA chief will likely start looking elsewhere – or look for other ways to compel his primary candidate to reconsider. He may eventually find a partner Â– more likely in the Far East or within Europe Â– but it may not take the form of the major player Sergio has hoped for.
