My wife is selling her 2011 Ford Escape Limited, which she has kept in a heated garage and has taken very good care of.  This is the top of the line Limited model, with the 3.0 L V-6 engine, leather heated front seats, all wheel drive for excellent traction and safety in inclement weather, and a sunroof for nicer days.  It also has an excellent stereo system with AM/FM CD and SYNC powered by MIcrosoft.  It also has a smooth 6 speed automatic transmission, auto door locks, power windows, air conditioning and a rear window wiper. The wheels are very clean and sharp looking shiny aluminum, 16 inch, with very good tires.

This vehicle also has the tow package with hitch and wiring, and is rated to tow 3,500 lbs.  It has never towed anything, but it has it if you need it.  In fact the reason we are selling it is towing related, as we had a full size pickup truck to tow a ski boat, horse trailer, etc. around, but we sold that and bought a somewhat larger SUV that can both tow and be a daily driver for my wife.  Therefore we are selling the Escape, and eliminating one extra vehicle to title and insure.

The vehicle is located just south of Crown Point, IN, about 48 miles from downtown Chicago.  You are welcome to test drive it during the listing, and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.  It is easiest to get me on my cell phone, which is 219-765-5910 (my name is Mike) or shoot an email,we will answer all questions promptly.

This SUV is in very clean condition, just a couple parking lot dings, but absolutely no rust or body issues.  Mechanically it is like the day it was new.  It has run flawlessly all the time we have had it, and my wife has owned it since it had about 10,000 miles.  It has a clean history, clear CARFAX, and is ready to make someone a happy new owner.  Also, the new owner will enjoy the remainder of the original Ford 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty.

If you like this car but have a car you need to sell first we will consider taking a trade (we have a big extended family and it seems someone is always looking for a car) BUT YOU MUST CALL FIRST so we can both agree on a trade value.  We got a cash offer this month from a big, nationwide used car dealer that offers to buy your car even if you don't buy one of theirs (think you can guess who?) and our reserve is equal to that cash price, and our "Buy It Now" price is at least $2,000 less than they would sell it for.  I note on this car dealers' web site that they want $23,998 for the same car with the same miles on it, so go ahead and bid on this one and save a lot of money!  We'd rather sell it to a fellow ebayer than to the dealer.

This is a local pickup, with payment in full by cash or cashiers check due on or before pickup.

Thanks for looking at this listing, and please call or email with any questions.

Cars with the worst resale value in 2022

Thu, Nov 10 2022

Car values are all over the map right now. Used vehicles that were worth a small fortune earlier this year are now coming back to Earth, but the new vehicle supply remains tight. Prices are still elevated overall, but some models have seen more severe price drops. Depreciation strikes almost every model, supply constraint or not, though a few vehicles are leading the way. New research from analytics iSeeCars found that a handful of cars depreciated more than 50 percent over five years, with the BMW 7 Series dropping 56.9 percent and an average price cut of $61,923 over that time. The vehicles with the highest depreciation — or worst resale value — over five years: BMW 7 Series: -56.9% Maserati Ghibli: -56.3% Jaguar XF: -54% Infiniti QX80: -52.6% Cadillac Escalade ESV: 52.3% Mercedes-Benz S-Class: 51.9% Lincoln Navigator: -51.9% Audi A6: -51.5% Volvo S90: -51.4% Ford Expedition: -50.7% iSeeCarsÂ’ research showed that midsize trucks, sports cars, and fuel-efficient vehicles were slowest to depreciate over five years, while itÂ’s clear that luxury brands tend to lose value much faster. As iSeeCarsÂ’ Executive Analyst Karl Brauer explained, used buyers donÂ’t value high-end vehiclesÂ’ features as much as the first owners, so resale values tend to be softer. The tech and options that made the cars so expensive and appealing new donÂ’t add the same value on the used market. Read more: Cars with the best resale value Interestingly, electric vehicles also depreciated quite heavily, though they were just short of the abysmal numbers in luxury segments. The Nissan Leaf depreciated most among EVs, dropping by 49.1 percent. The average EV depreciation is 44.2 percent, with the Tesla Model S and Model X sliding in right under the bar at 43.7 and 38.8 percent, respectively. As iSeeCars notes, itÂ’s important to be vigilant when car shopping and not let your emotions win over reason. Shiny new luxury cars look great in the showroom, but you could end up taking a bath when you try selling them a few years later on. Ford UK exec says EVs are a good way to lose a fortune

Wed, Mar 19 2014

Stateside, Ford execs are quick to point out the automaker's expansion in the plug-in sector. And despite a minimal presence in the pure EV space, the Blue Oval has been promoting its plug-in vehicles as part of an overall effort to boost fleetwide fuel economy. Too bad the company's UK chief didn't get the memo. There's "no point in us getting behind [EVs] and losing a fortune" - Ford's Mark Ovenden Mark Ovenden, speaking rather frankly at the Geneva Motor Show recently, said he didn't have real high hopes for substantial electric-vehicle adoption and said the company's money was better spent on smaller gas- and diesel-powered engines, the UK's Daily Mail says. Ovenden said of EV development that there was "no point in us getting behind it and losing a fortune," adding that his goal was to have variants of Ford's EcoBoost engine in 40 percent of the company's vehicles. Ford has about a 15-percent market share in the UK. The UK doesn't appear to be as kind to the EV as the US. Nissan last year cut the price of its all-electric Leaf there last year by about $4,000, while the company rolled out a promotion for the Leaf late last year, including allowing Leaf drivers to borrow a gas- or diesel-powered Nissan for free for as long as two weeks a year during the first three years of Leaf ownership. In the US, Ford sold just 229 Ford Focus Electrics during the first two months of the year after moving 1,738 units in 2013.

How and why Ford is rolling out Vignale in Europe

Wed, 09 Oct 2013

We know that Ford is positioning the new, upscale Vignale brand in Europe to fill a niche market of customers who want a bit more luxury, a lot more service and the same reliability and dependability that a non-Vignale Ford offers. But so far, we've been in the dark regarding how the Blue Oval will sell Vignale vehicles, how many of them will be created, and what the new sub-brand has in store for the future.
Gaetano Thorel, Ford's European marketing head, recently was interviewed by Automotive News and shared details about Ford Vignale. Thorel says, "The Vignale trim line will be priced like an ST model but attract a completely different type of customer." Specifically, he says it will attract customers in the upper 15 percent of the price band who don't want a performance-oriented ST model. He adds that Vignale cars will be about 10 percent more expensive than Titanium-trim cars. About 500 of Ford's European dealers will sell Vignale Fords, Thorel says, "in areas that make sense." The automaker expects 10 percent of its European sales to be Vignale cars, which equates to about 5 percent of its global sales. When asked if there are any other Vignale models planned beyond the Mondeo, Thorel said, "There is nothing written in stone yet."
