I had this van for the last 4 years and 25,000 miles or so. No rust, solid, and in fantastic shape, but at the moment it does have a hesitation problem (a control module or something, I think I will figure it out) but happens to have nothing to do with why I'm selling it. Owned by an older man until 6 months before I got it, he traded it in at a new car dealership, where it was sent to another dealer (all this in central PA near Harrisburg) where a family bought it to take their children to school. A few months of driving a 460cu in truck and paying the gas, they went to find something cheaper on fuel. It was still in use when I got it, it had just been listed and came up in my daily search. This was my dream van with the 460/E350 XLT/Blue since I was a teenager, I saw it soon after it was posted and went on to pay the inflated price they were asking to end up with it for sure, and then found a way to get it from Harrisburg PA (almost 4 hours away). Most fun vehicle I've had by far. Heavy Duty drive train (460 V8 w/ automatic 3 speed w/ Overdrive) and very much original, with no rust. Factory radio, AM/FM/Cassette. Issues: There is a ripple in the one side door, it was dented and repaired before I got it and it's not perfect. The rear bumper has a slight bend in it (I did it, parking near a fence in the winter) and the driver's side has a twisted running board, where someone slid off the road some winters ago and hit it slightly, while the van was parked. (I was putting in a new waterpump at the moment, and didn't get hurt, but it did mess up the running board on the one side. I just noticed the carfax report on it, the first one I ever saw on it, a few months ago some lady was texting during slow rush hour traffic and slid into the back of me, and I guess that made it onto the carfax since there was a police report. I had a luggage carrier on at the time, so it only made 2 small dents in the back door, and nothing was repaired, you can still see them. At the moment it has a hesitation now and then that comes and goes, but is getting more frequent. It doesn't miss, it just wont rev up all the way. I'm selling it as is for parts to avoid any complications from this, but at the moment it's still my daily driver and I ordered an ignition control module, which was a common problem up to 1991 models, and the van still has the original one on it. I put a new water pump on about 2 years ago, after the bushing in the old one started leaking. Other than that this thing has been problem free, mostly because it's used regularly. Needs 2 new front tires to pass inspection, the 2 rear are about a month old. I took it to Miami to see a friend about 2 months ago, and it was the most comfortable trip ever. (The last 4 photos I just added, they were just on my phone from a trip here or there...) There are no seats behind the 2 front passenger seats that are included, though I have matching captain chairs and bench seat parts if you're interested in them (Otherwise I'll keep them until my next blue clubwagon). This blue velour was my favorite, and I kept most of the seats and seat parts from the previous 2 matching blue clubwagons I've had over the last 15 years or so because I love this interior. If you're interested, the seats and seat parts may be for sale. This van was originally a 4 captain chair and fold down bed/bench (factory Club Wagon seats, not conversion van junk) and like I said, I have most of the seat panels and captain chairs if we work something out. After looking at the completed listing, the faded look in the captain chair seat is from the early morning sunlight, the seat is NOT faded at all. I think the first owner had it garaged, the second owner didn't, and I didn't either. The seats and interior of the doors are as nice as there is. I know the photos aren't fantastic, I took them extremely early this morning with my phone minutes after I found something out, I had no plans to sell this ever, I got some news and went right out side and snapped a few quick photos with my phone so I could list it immediately. There's still frost on the window and dew on the rest of the van. The paint looks very nice (except for the few dents on the van) all the way around, and most of it is original. I have nicer photos of it somewhere, but for the moment I just wanted to capture all the issues in case someone was coming from a distance. The hesitation issue has nothing to do with why I'm selling it, and it might be resolved by the time it sells, but I'm selling it as non-running for repair just to avoid any problems. Like I said earlier, it's still my daily driver. Clear PA title, seller part is already notarized, I can give you a bill of sale and you can take it away. The van has 120,000 on it at the moment. It turned 120,000 about a week ago. No leins. The front black grill guard (very heavy duty) is a little rusty, I started sanding on it to repaint it about a week ago, bought a new DeWalt wire wheel grinder to clean it down to the metal before I painted it this time and some Grainger expensive black paint, and just didn't get to it. Like I said, I didn't plan on selling it until this morning. The passenger door lock makes a noise when it goes up and down, something should be adjusted on that, but it still works and all the power options work like a charm. It's great to be able to push one button and all the doors lock. Both window motors are great too. Back doors, side doors, and long window all have the latches and open and close and lock perfectly. Almost all factory paint, except where one or two of the doors were repainted at some point, by a bodyshop. The photos are not glamorous, but at least the worst of the body imperfections are visible in the photos, which is what I was going for. Dual tanks, both pumps work, switch works, cruise works, and it has a 7 prong trailer plug with electric break control and a class 3+ hitch in the back. I personally never towed with it, and I doubt actually anyone ever did. I think all the extra stuff was put on mainly for the older fellow when it was new (like the grill guard in the front, all the extra gauges, etc.) but he might have had some camper or trailer, I don't know. The orignal owner did put a bunch of things in it, and since I appreciate used vehicles that elderly people had (they take care of them, even if they do add a bunch of junk aftermarket items to them) and there are some horn controls and gauges from the 90's he had installed along with the electric break control and I didn't remove anything except a compas that was near the dash. No holes in the dash by the way... everything was carefully mounted, and can be removed without leaving any visible holes. The 2 studs near the A-pillar roof area are 2 CB antenna mounts, I unscrewed the antennas but left the clamps because they are wired in case someone wanted to use them someday. Both captain chairs and door cards are in really nice shape. Cruise and tilt. AC works in the front, not the back. I never looked into it. SOLD AS IS, once I find out what the problem is, I'll update the listing but either way it's offered AS IS and WHERE IS because I'm on a tight schedule for something very important and pressing, which is the whole reason of listing this in the first place. This needs to be picked up (and paid in full in person in cash) within 3 days of the listing ended, unless other arraingements are made ahead of time. I just sold my sister's long-term car (10+ years) a few weeks ago and that is what my one other feedback is from. I'm an honest seller, nothing is played up or down, and all the photos are taken with my cell phone, and are as accurate as I would want them to be if I were bidding. If you win, and you come look at it and it's not exactly as I described, you do not have to take it. But NO OFFERS will be accepted after the listing ends, for less than your bid. I'm not a dealer, and wont waste your time, please do me the same favor. Any questions let me know, I am open to offers, but only if they are for something quick and easy and reasonable in price. You MUST send your phone number if you're interested in a timely reply, and this will need to be TRAILERED away. I would say this should not be driven any distance in the condition it's in.
*Last note to bargain hunters! If you're just looking for a mean work truck, I would be open to a considerable amount less if I could keep the front two seats and a few other parts as well. If you happen to have a $25 vinyl cargo van seat, bring it, and I would be very flexible so as to keep those two front seats, as I will have another blue Club Wagon at some point, and these are in great shape, the one with the power adjust I'd especially like to keep. Also the side mirrors are an extendable version, kind of useless but since I think they are cool, those are another thing I'd like to keep that you could easily and cheaply replace. If you have a similar van that you're replacing and can use for parts, and are OK with me taking things off this one, we can talk!
*** FRONT LICENCE PLATE MOUNT IS NOT INCLUDED. It's a cast aluminum fold down step, and I am keeping that no matter what. |

2015 Ford Mustang GT [w/video]
Fri, 19 Sep 2014At 50 years old, the object of fantasies, a tuner's dream, a movie star and more than nine million strong, it couldn't be truer to say that the Ford Mustang needs no introduction. This newest Mustang, however - making the biggest changes we've seen to the pony car since perhaps 1964.5 - is something Ford has been introducing all year.
We went on a Deep Dive, covered the way it looks when it was revealed, detailed the engine specs, got a ride in the EcoBoost and listened to the V8, got rolling footage and watched it do a standard-feature burnout.
The only thing left to do? Drive it. Having now done so for a few hours around Los Angeles, what we can tell you is to forget everything you know about the Mustang. This new car shames the old, redefines the model and gallops far ahead of anything else in the segment.
Detroit's new fleet of donated police cars have safety issues [w/video]
Wed, 23 Oct 2013In a show of generosity in mid-August, Detroit's business leaders donated $8 million to the Police Department and Fire Department in order to buy 100 new police vehicles and 23 EMS ambulances. But now officers have discovered - and complained - that the police vehicles have glaring safety issues, Deadline Detroit reports. It is not made clear what models of the fleet vehicles - which include police versions of the Ford Taurus, the Chevrolet Caprice and the Dodge Charger - are affected by the safety issues.
Officers reportedly have complained that the Plexiglass partition separating front-seat officers and back-seat prisoners is easily breached, and that the front passenger seat is installed too close to the dashboard. Prisoners who manage to writhe out of their handcuffs can bend the Plexiglass and reach into the cockpit, and sitting too close to the dashboard can render airbags more dangerous and make officers more vulnerable to injury in a crash.
Mark Diaz, president of the Detroit Police Officers Association, received the complaints and reportedly said the vehicles would get safety updates addressing the issues. But Deadline Detroit reports that it checked some of the offending police cars and, as of the last few days, they hadn't been updated.
2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid vs other hybrid crossovers | How they compare on paper
Thu, Sep 19 2019The long-anticipated 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid was announced yesterday, and although we don't have every spec available (including the all-important official fuel economy figures), Honda provided enough that we can piece together a comparison of powertrain specs and dimensions. The same can be said of the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, which we just drove for the first time. Together, they represent a significant increase in the number of compact crossover hybrids, as the current total is one: the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The old Nissan Rogue Hybrid has been discontinued, leaving the subcompact Kia Niro Hybrid as the only other vehicle in the ballpark. As you'll see below, its size and performance are much different than the others, but its fuel economy and price are superior. Performance The RAV4 Hybrid is the performance champ of the group, but both it and the new CR-V Hybrid are actually more powerful than their respective gas-only siblings. Although the added weight of its battery pack negates much of that horsepower advantage, the RAV4 Hybrid's subsequent acceleration is indeed a smidge quicker than the gas-only version. It will be interesting to see if that's the case with the CR-V. By contrast, the Ford Escape offers a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo engine, meaning the hybrid variation is most definitely not the Escape's highest-performance offering. Nevertheless, the Hybrid does produce more power than the base 181-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder. The Niro, meanwhile, brings up the rear in terms of performance, but Kia estimates a perfectly acceptable 0-60 time of 8.6 seconds. The others are likely in the mid-7-second range. Fuel economy This is ultimately an open question since we don't have official figures for the CR-V and Escape. Based on Honda's estimate of the CR-V Hybrid being 50% more efficient in the city than the gas-only version, our calculators say it should get 43 mpg in the city. Then, based on information provided on the Escape Hybrid first drive and some more calculation, our best guestimate for it is 40 mpg. Either way, given how mpg is calculated, any potential differences between them in terms of actual fuel burned should be negligible. On the other hand, most Kia Niros sold get 51 mpg in the city and 49 mpg combined. According to the EPA, that translates to an annual average fuel cost of $750. The RAV4 Hybrid, by contrast, is $900. FWD vs AWD Note that the CR-V and RAV4 come standard with all-wheel drive.
