1977 Ford Bronco 1 Owner, Original Paint, 44k Miles, on 2040-cars
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
Available is a special Bronco. I found her at this years Bronco Super Celebration in Townsend TN. The owner was an old timer from Marion NC. He drove it to the show and back home, a total of 300 miles that sunny Saturday. The bronco was bought new from his friend in 1977 ( I have the original receipt when it was bought). His friend recently passed and he bought the Bronco from the estate, and sold it to me in May. He delivered it to my sister in Knoxville, and my Dad who is 75 drove it from Knoxville to Nashville (175 miles) a few weeks ago. She's reliable daily driver, as is or restore to show quality status. Fly in and drive her home of have her transported.
She's in very good overall original condition. It The paint is original and has plenty of patina. I had it buffed and it removed most of the oxidation. The top has never been off. The doors are the tightest closing doors I've seen. The inner and outer strikers and posts are perfect, with NO door sag. All sheet metal is original and there is no bondo anywhere. The belly is super clean as seen in the pictures. She's almost completely rust free. There's a couple minor spots in the front floor seams and on the right rear seam by the wheel well, and the right rear quarter seam, that's about it. The rockers, tailgate, kick panels, windshield frame, front hood lip, inner fenders are all rust free. The front seats have been recovered at some point, the rear seat is original. It has the factory front and rear Black mats. It still has the original AM radio too! The original 302 purrs, doesn't smoke and even appears to have it's original muffler and catalytic converter. The previous owner said the Bronco sat for a couple of years before he bought it and his mechanic told him it has sticky lifter ticking. It has been driven about 500 miles, and drives excellent. The transmission shifts fine, it has the 4 turn close ratio power steering only available in 76 and 77. 4WD works fine. It has 5 new AT tires, new master cylinder. All the lights work, even the dash light bars, shift indicator, side markers, and license plate light. It also has the optional remote drivers side view mirror. It's rare to find a '77 with only 44K miles, uncut with original paint, but here it is! Ask questions before you bid. Sold as is with no warranty. Sold with clear title. I refuse the right to end the auction early If I decide to list it locally for sale. All questions will be answered. A $500.00 non refundable deposit is due at auctions end. I have a transport company I can refer. Their rate is typically .75/mile. THANKS |

Ford, Samsung shack up to bring regen braking to non-hybrid models [w/video]
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Ford must be desperate to get itself ready for the beach this summer because it is really trying to get into shape. Shortly after unveiling the Lightweight Concept that cut the weight of a Fusion down to that of a Fiesta, it's now the rest of the line's turn for improvement. The company is wrapping up a 10-year research project aimed at developing next-gen automotive batteries to improve efficiency.
Ford claims that 70 percent of its lineup will have stop/start tech by 2017. The key to this massive proliferation is its new dual-battery system that combines a lithium-ion battery with a lead-acid one and regenerative braking. The setup works by harvesting braking energy and converting it to electricity. When the vehicle stops, the engine shuts off, but the Li-ion battery has enough juice to keep the accessories running. The engine starts up again as drivers take their foot off the brake. The layout would mean less wasted gas while idling. It's already available on Ford hybrids and is somewhat similar to the i-Eloop capacitor-based system from Mazda.
The bigger challenge is tuning the regenerative braking right. While hybrid drivers may be a little more adventurous, when it comes to getting a hang of regen braking, conventional buyers might not be so open-minded. The systems have a tendency to be a little grabby at first and then taper off at very low speeds. Ford needs to make sure it's just right to avoid turning off buyers.
Listen to the 2016 Shelby GT350R roar
Tue, Jun 2 2015With only 137 examples to be built this year, it may be a while before you get the chance to hear the new Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang clear its throat. Fortunately the boys at the Blue Oval have got that part covered, at least in part, with the release of this video. The short clip is only 25 seconds long, but shows the new track-tuned pony car revving its 5.2-liter V8 heart away on the track. And with output in excess of 500 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque, boy can she sing. This isn't actually the first time we're hearing the new GT350 kick over altogether, but the previous video was taken down shortly after it went up – and that was for the non-R version anyway. This, then, represents the first time to hear the new top-of-the-line pony car doing its thang, and we hope it'll stick around long enough at least for you to get an ear-full. So turn up the speakers, sit back, and hit play to hear the soundtrack that no artificially amplified turbo four will ever manage to replace.
Watch the Hennessey Ford GT makes its record run at Texas Mile
Wed, 27 Mar 2013We said they'd probably be out with an official video, we did not lie. The Hennessey-powered camouflage Ford GT sat at one end of the runway at the Texas Mile sitting still. At the other end of the runway it had broken its own speed record, the twin-turbo 5.7-liter V8 pushing the aerodynamic supercar up to 267.6 miles per hour, a 4.3-mph improvement over the old mark.
There's not much in the video you haven't already seen, this just makes it official. That said, who doesn't want to see a twin-turbo Ford GT set an incredible speed record? You can watch it below.
