I recently purchased this truck from the 2nd owner.  I purchased it to be a companion vehicle to my 1963 Ford Falcon convertible that I am restoring.  However, shortly after purchasing the truck, we discovered a lot of hidden rust in the convertible that needed to be addressed, and the funds that I was going to put into the Ranchero, has to be put into the convertible.

This truck seems to be very solid, with no apparent rust on the body.  There does appear to be a small repair that was done at some point in the past on the driver's side, rear quarter panel by the bumper.  I was told that the paint job is about 10 years old, so the repair was done before then or at that time.  There is a little surface rust on the chrome back bumper.  The interior is pretty good, and I would rate it a 7 out of 10, with no rips or tears in the bench seat or the headliner.  The gauges work as one would expect, and the manual transmission shifts just fine.  The 260 V8 runs strong and starts up just fine, and runs up and down the freeway just fine.  I have noticed a couple of the chrome trim is missing.

These rigs have a history of rusting out just behind the back of the passenger compartment, where the back of the cab meets the bed.  This area has been professionally repaired and the bed has been bed lined.

Since I just purchased this vehicle, I have a very limited knowledge of the vehicle and if it were a perfect world, I would keep it, but due to the depth of restoration that I am in with the convertible, I have to part with this rig.

The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping or local pickup, at their cost.

Ford to build next F-150, outgoing model concurrently?

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rumored to be considering concurrent production for old and new F-150 models in a bid to minimize supply chain disruptions and inventory. Automotive News is reporting that the Blue Oval will build both the current F-150 and its replacement, which we showed you testing just last month, side by side for about half a year before switching over entirely to next-generation production.
As IHS Automotive analyst Mike Jackson told AN, "In order to ramp up, you have to retool...and that means you have to take capacity offline." Building both models alongside could allow Ford to cope with the still strong demand for the current F-150, while populating dealer supplies and working out supply chain kinks for the new model before making a full-time switch.
A loss of capacity when demand is so strong, even for a short period, could spell bad news for Ford, which nets an estimated 90 percent of its global profit on pickups and large SUVs. As AN states, Ford produces the F-150 in both Kansas City, Missouri and Dearborn, Michigan, which allows it to maintain some degree of flexibility in production. The new F-150 is expected to arrive at the 2014 North American International Auto Show as a 2015 model, with a design inspired by the Atlas Concept first shown at the Detroit Auto Show last January.

Facelifted Ford Focus caught testing in the cold

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

It's that time in the life of the Ford Focus to get a little work done - a nip-tuck here, some Botox there. Yes, Ford is testing a facelifted version of its global C-segment entry, which first hit markets in Europe and North America in May 2011.
Like the touchup on the Fiesta, expect Ford's gaping grille to make its first appearance on the Focus. Our spy photographers point out that this is likely to be a more comprehensive makeover than previous spy shots suggested, based on the additional camouflage seen here on the front and rear ends of this five-door model. New head and taillights are also likely in order, as are changes to the front and rear fascia.
The interior was also snapped and features a cleaner design with a larger central display. Other than that, it looks like some buttons have been changed, making us think most of the Focus' updates are limited to the exterior.

Ford announces bevy of recalls, 2 of which are recalls on recalls

Tue, 04 Nov 2014

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
