Feast your eyes on this freshly completed rat rodtruck build! It started life as a 46 Ford pickup and is now resurrected into a very driveable and reliable hot rod. It features an all new custom built frame with a rebuilt Ford 8" rearend and a model A front axle with split wishbones. All newdrum brakes on all 4 corners and dual master cylinder bring it to a stop. Brand new front bias ply tires and wide whitewall cheater slicks keep it planted on the ground. A rebuilt 302 with a mild cam provides the power to a ford C5 automatic trans with a lokar shifter. A new driveshaft completes the driveline. The cab has been chopped 4" with the rear window getting only 2". the original bed has been narrowed and shortened and a bed cover was made from some old barn boards. The interior has custom made vinyl seats. The drivers seat has about 5" of travel to accomidate different size drivers comfortably. About 85% of the truck is all brand new parts and it runs and drives great. The truck has a clear Illinois title as a 1988 Ranger that goes with it. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:

Ford recalling nearly 700k Escape CUVs, C-Max hybrids over two separate safety issues
Fri, 09 May 2014Poor Escape. Ever since its launch in 2012, Ford's small CUV has been the subject of many, many, many recalls. And today, The Detroit News is reporting that Ford is adding two more recalls to the 2013-14 model year Escape's permanent record, one of them also involves the C-Max hybrid hatchback.
The first recall, covering 692,500 Escape and C-Max vehicles, is due to a software glitch that could cause the airbags - specifically, the safety canopy - to not deploy in a timely fashion during rollover crashes. According to the News, Ford says no crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this problem.
The second recall, covering 692,700 Escapes, is related to the door handles. The News reports that the exterior door handles could open while the vehicle is in motion, and could also fail to latch properly. Once again, no crashes or injuries have occurred because of this. The National Highway Safety Traffic Administration has not issued an official notice on either recall as of this writing.
Ken Block and friends race light in silly-beautiful Castrol commercial
Wed, 28 May 2014How does one make fast, loud, drifting cars better? Well, you can add more fast, loud, drifting cars or you can add lasers. Either or, really. In this case, Castrol did the right thing and added both, creating a highly stylized commercial for its Edge Titanium motor oil starring South African racer Adrian Zaugg, BMW factory driver Augusto Farfus, Audi DTM and Le Mans staple Mike Rockenfeller and some bloke named Ken Block.
Their cars? No surprise, but Block is in his Ford Fiesta GRC, while Zaugg samples a Lamborghini Aventador and Farfus and Rockenfeller drive along party lines, with a BMW M4 and an Audi R8, respectively. And those cars look good, too, thanks to the creative light and laser work on display.
