NOSTALGIC 1929 FORD ROADSTER PICKUP THAT EVOKES THE EARLIEST DAYS OF RODDING IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA DURING THE LATE 1930s AND EARLY POST WAR ERA.

NO SMALL BLOCK CHEVY OR EVEN A FLATHEAD V-8 HERE BUT AN ORIGINAL MODEL A 4 BANGER WITH PERIOD SPEED PARTS INCLUDING A VINTAGE MALLORY DUAL POINT DISTRIBUTOR, VINTAGE THOMAS TWO CARB MANIFOLD AND MATCHING FINNED ALUMINUM HIGH COMPRESSION HEAD, CAST IRON SWEPT-BACK "HEADERS", AND MORE.

CHASSIS AND DRIVETRAIN ARE TOTALLY AND FULLY REBUILT FROM FRONT TO BACK WITH ALL NEW BEARINGS, BUSHINGS, SEALS, SHACKLES, SPRINGS, SPINDLES, NEW BRAKE COMPONENTS INCLUDING SHOES, CYLINDERS, SPRINGS, DRUMS, AND HUBS.  FULLY REBUILT ENGINE W/ NEW BABBITT, PISTONS, TIMING GEARS, VALVES, SPRINGS, ETC.  NOTHING WAS OVERLOOKED.

BRAKES ARE '48 FORD HYDRAULIC, DROPPED FRONT AXLE.  CHASSIS IS "Z"ed  AT THE REAR IN THE TIME HONORED WAY.  BRAND NEW FIRESTONE WIDE WHITES.

THE ONE CONCESSION MADE TO DRIVING ON MODERN ROADS IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ORIGINAL TRANNY WITH A T-5 FIVE SPEED WHICH DOES ABSOLUTE WONDERS TO CRUISING SPEED AND IT LOOKS TOTALLY NORMAL.

THE PICKUP IS PAINTED IN "BATTLESHIP" GRAY SIMILAR TO WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AT AN ARMY SURPLUS STORE IN THE LATE FORTIES AND THE PAINT WAS APPLIED USING TECHNIQUES DEVELOPED TO GIVE IT A PATINA OF AGE THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DISTINGUISH FROM VERY OLD PAINT.    A OLD WORN LEATHER COUCH WAS USED.  CAREFULLY REMOVED THE HIDES, AND RE-CYCLED THEM TO UPHOLSTER THE SEATS AND INTERIOR GIVING THE INTERIOR A WARM, MELLOW LOOK AND FEEL.

IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THIS IS THE FUTURE OF RESTORATION, THE CAR WORLD HAVING BEGUN TO GROW TIRED OF THE ULTRA-SLICK, ULTRA-SHINY, OVER-RESTORED TRAILER QUEENS THAT HAVE PROLIFERATED AT CAR SHOWS IN RECENT YEARS.  I THINK IT IS TIME TO PUT CARS BACK ON THE STREET AND USE THEM AS THEY WERE USED SO MANY YEARS AGO.

ON THE ROAD, IT IS GREAT FUN, SOUNDS GREAT, AND GOES LIKE A MODEL A ON STEROIDS.

THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER FORD ROADSTER PICKUP, IT IS A UNIQUE WORK OF ART THAT WILL NEVER BE REPEATED OR REPRODUCED.  FOR MORE INFO PLEASE CALL (505) 681-5296

2015 Ford Mustang Convertible shown on Twitter [UPDATE w/video]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

It hasn't yet been 12 hours since the hotly anticipated 2015 Ford Mustang has been let out into public view. After a series of evocative leaks over the course of the last days, we brought you a full deep dive of the sixth-generation pony car at the dawning of today. And yet, here we are rushing to bring you news of a new Mustang variant, already.
Be it part of a plan to keep the Mustang fervor at full boil, or a misunderstood email somewhere in the chain of command, Ford UK has unceremoniously tweeted a picture of the 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible. For a newly global Mustang, getting our first look at the droptop from the convertible-crazy British does make some amount of sense.
As for details, well, you're looking at them. Brandon Turkus reported yesterday that the Mustang 'vert would make use of a fully electric convertible mechanism, and that it would be of fabric construction rather than some kind of retractable hardtop. We see here that the fabric part is clearly true, and it does look as though Ford may still be employing the same kind of manually attached tonneau cover that exists right now. Of course, our view from this angle isn't great, and the particulars are still up in the air.

Editors' Picks February 2021 | Ford F-150, Genesis GV80, Mazda CX-30 and more

Wed, Mar 10 2021

If we’ve driven and reviewed it, thereÂ’s an Autoblog Rating for it. ItÂ’s been over two years since we launched a new rating system to help you evaluate cars at a glance. We tweaked and improved it along the way and quickly arrived at a consistent process for giving each and every car on sale today a fair score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. Every car we rate gets a score from 1 to 10, making it easy for you to tell if itÂ’s a car worth pursuing and possibly purchasing. YouÂ’ll find the scores of previously-rated cars attached toward the top of our written reviews. For example, the Bronco SportÂ’s rating can be found here. The Acura TLXÂ’s rating is in this post, and the Nissan RogueÂ’s rating is right here. There are hundreds of examples to be found. The above examples make up the most natural ways to find the Autoblog rating when researching for your next car, but starting today, weÂ’re going to begin calling out each new set of Editors' Picks per month in their own breakout stories. This will put the newest and most recently refreshed cars on sale on a pedestal for you to see which ones are worth your while. WeÂ’ll typically rate anywhere between 5-10 new cars per month, so you can count on just a select few from those to make this list. Expect to see this recurring ratings post each month going forward, and read on for FebruaryÂ’s EditorsÂ’ Picks.   2021 Genesis GV80 2021 Genesis GV80 View 18 Photos Quick take: The stylish GV80 offers useful safety features, compelling design and sporty dynamics to push it near the top of the segment. Genesis takes risks with this aggressive crossover, and the result is a luxurious vehicle that is rewarding to drive. Score: 8.5 What it competes with: Lincoln Aviator, Volvo XC90, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Acura MDX, Lexus RX Pros: Beautiful design, good road manners, awesome value Cons: Small third row and cargo space, less comfortable standard suspension  From the editors: Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore — “The GV80 is a hugely important vehicle for Genesis. It makes a style statement, has an elegant interior and is a compelling all-round execution. It looks like a Bentley, and I give Genesis props for taking some risks with the GV80 and largely pulling it all off.

1914 Ford Model T at Historic Greenfield Village | AutoblogVR

Tue, Sep 6 2016

We drive all of the newest and most sophisticated cars, but a 102-year-old Ford is one of our recent favorites. Senior Editor Alex Kierstein headed to historic Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI, to learn to drive a Model T in the latest AutoblogVR segment. Kierstein picks up the Model T fairly quickly, despite its controls. Though they were designed more than a century ago to be simple and easy to use, driving a Model T is complicated and counter-intuitive to the modern motorist. But by the end of his lesson, Kierstein has it all figured out and is enjoying himself. In our other new segment, Detroit Manufacturing, Senior Editor Greg Migliore showcases the city''s industrial might. He tours a modern Fiat Chrysler factory that churns out Dodge Durangos and Jeep Grand Cherokees and then wanders the ruins of the mythical Packard Plant. There's also some tasty and unexpected twists in this VR episode. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play.
