Offered for sale is my 1969 ford mustang 428 cobra jet Mach 1. This Mach 1 is equipped with the r code 428 cobra jet engine backed by a close ratio toploader 4 speed transmission and a 3.50 traction lok 31 spline nodular rear end. This is a nicely equipped car and is optioned with power disc brakes and power steering, tinted glass, factory tach, fold down rear seat, visibility group and AM/FM cassette stereo radio. Additional owner added options include front and rear spoilers and window slats. The car rides on 15 inch Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich P215/65R15 T/A radials. The odometer reads 05520 and assumed to be 105520 however that is not able to be verified.
The engine was represented by the previous owner to be the original factory installed unit. The block is not VIN stamped which is typical with Metuchen built cars. The date stamped on the block reads 8J27 which corresponds to the car's build date. Per previous owner statements the engine was rebuilt in the mid 1990's and retains its stock bore and factory pistons. The engine is outfitted with a Holley 4150 750 cfm carb with manual choke and is retains its original factory shaker assembly. The oil pump and fuel pump have been replaced as a preventive measure to ensure reliability for long drives. A factory windage tray was installed to decrease turbulence around the crankshaft and oil pan. The ignition has been upgraded to a MSD 6A electronic ignition with the module mounted out of sight under the fender well to maintain a factory appearance. Original cast iron exhaust manifolds connect to an original 2 1/4 inch H pipe which feeds into a 2 1/2 inch custom exhaust with correct rolled edge tips.
The transmission is the correct big spline close ratio toploader 4 speed. The transmission tag reads RUG AE2/011061 which is correct for the 1969 428 CJ. The trans is currently equipped with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter.
The rear end is the original 9 inch housing with the 31 spline nodular center section and staggered shocks. The rear was upgraded to a traction lok by the previous owner and still retains its 3.50 ratio.
The body appears to retain its original sheet metal and under body panels. There is no evidence of rust or body damage. All frame rails and aprons appear undisturbed, evidencing no buckled or straightened areas. Exterior stainless trim and chrome is in excellent condition. It is believed the car underwent a restoration in the 1990's and the paint is very presentable with a smooth finish and high gloss. There are a few stone chips present from normal use which have been touched up. The underside is painted body color and appears to have been done with a texture paint to resist stone chips.
The interior was restored at the time of the restoration. The carpet appears to be a Ford service replacement which was still available at the time as opposed to the cheap looking repro carpets currently offered. The seats have been recently re-upholstered with TMI seat covers. The woodgrain and bright work around the gauges is excellent and the dash pad is in excellent shape with no cracks. All equipment including horn, gauges, radio, tach and interior lights are in working order. The truck contains a high quality speckled mat with a spare tire, jack and proper hardware

Ford abandons MyFord Touch, all hail Sync 3 infotainment [w/video]

MyFord Touch has been among the most widely disdained automotive infotainment systems on the market, practically since its introduction in 2010. Consumer Reports was among the most vocal critics, all but advocating its lynching by an angry mob armed with torches and pitchforks. Not surprisingly, then, after such a critical walloping, Ford has finally decided to say goodbye to the unloved tech, declaring the end of MyFord Touch branding in favor of Sync 3 for its upcoming, all-new system. Ford is promising everything you would expect from Sync 3, including faster response time, better voice-command integration, easier controls and a more useable interface. The screen layout includes fewer items to make them easier to discern, and the icons are made from large, high-contrast buttons. There's also a dedicated tab for apps at the bottom of the screen in addition to those for audio, climate, phone and navigation. Another useful feature is the fact that Sync 3 can download improvements over your home Wi-Fi for easier updates. In addition to the revamped interface, the software running behind the scenes is a big change too. Rather than MyFord Touch's Microsoft-sourced system, Sync 3 uses the Blackberry-owned QNX, according to Automotive News. Such a switch was rumored earlier this year. Drivers still have to live with MyFord Touch a little longer, though. According to Automotive News, Ford said that the change to Sync 3 will happen during the 2016 model year with complete integration into the lineup by the end of the 2016 calendar year. It will come standard on Titanium trim models and as a separate option will be priced in line with the current MyFord Touch. The Sync 3 brand will carry over to Lincoln, too, but with a different look. 2015 Ford F-150 appearance guide takes the truck from mild to wild with options

We already know that the 2015 Ford F-150 has a base price coming in at just $395 more than the 2014 model, despite all of the new standard tech and aluminum-intensive construction in the upcoming version. Now the Blue Oval is finally giving us an idea of what that extra money actually buys customers, with the release of the appearance guide for its latest pickup.
The guide basically explains everything you could want to know about what changes occur among the multitude of trims on the 2015 F-150. There are five levels for the new truck. Although, that is something of a misnomer because most of them are also available with either Sport or Chrome packages, plus the FX4 Off-Road option with Hill Descent Control, an electronic-locking rear axle, off-road shocks and skid plates. With 13 available colors, including 4 new ones, and 14 wheel designs in various sizes, pickup buyers should have no problem specing one to fit their style.
The lineup starts out with the base XL with a black grille and fascia and 17-inch wheels. However, across most of the range the Sport and Chrome packages are also available to add either body-color or chrome accents, respectively. Next up is the XLT with a standard chrome grille but also available with a black, billet-style one with a body-color surround. Things really start getting plush with the Lariat model with leather trim, a three-bar front end and 18-inch wheels. The King Ranch sticks with that look but adds power running boards, 20-inch wheels and two-tone paint. Finally, the top-dog Platinum is all about bling with yet another frontal design, chrome door handles and mirror caps, a big logo running across the tailgate and more.
