Original 1926 Model T Ford Roadster / Speedster / Racer on 2040-cars
Spring Hill, Tennessee, United States
|
Up for auction is this original 1927 Ford Model T Racer. The chassis, body and engine are original. Original restored wire wheels. This awesome ride goes 50 mph with no hesitation. Completely rebuilt transmission using Kevlar bands, Jack Rabbit clutch, Springs, Bushings, etc. The engine was rebuilt last year professionally for performance and reliability. Since completion last year, I have driven this car on average of 4-5 times a week around town, weather permitting. It is very reliable. It should be, because every nut and bolt; as well as every mechanical component has been rebuilt. Don’t let the paint job, or lack there of, fool you. Under that fantastic patina is a show car, with over $30K invested keeping everything factory stock and period correct. The only thing that’s been added is the Rocky Mountain brakes (It goes fast and stops just as well!), new modern distributor and alternator. Engine & Transmission: Fresh rebuild using aluminum pistons [60 over]. High compression racing “Z” head. New US made Crankshaft. Heat-treated, with main and rod journals ground and polished to a 6-micro finish. Dynamically balanced. New high lift Camshaft, 280 grind with short front bearing journal. New Camshaft bearings. New 7-1/2 degree distributor timing gear for extra speed. Rebuilt for high flow original Holley NH carburetor. Balanced engine. Rebuilt Transmission, top to bottom. New distributor, points, plugs and wires. New throttle and choke linkage. New ignition and AMP gauge. Rebuilt Hogshead with all new seals and gaskets. Lightened flywheel. Magneto removed. Original early 20’s perfect set of bubble headlights, very bright. Original accessory ‘through the glass’ Clymer spotlight (These in working order and in their original glass are ridiculously impossible to find). Works great. Large period correct horn. Loud. NOS accessory adjustable steering wheel tension stabilizer. Custom cut and fit oak floors. Completely rebuilt rear end, including axle and bearings. Newly installed Rocky Mountain Brakes. New radiator, hoses, clamps and fan belt. New exhaust manifold, pipes and stock muffler. New aluminum intake manifold. Custom leather barrel seats. Battery kill switch. New large Model T oval gas tank. Installed in trunk area. Twin Model T brake lights. Completely rebuilt suspension, steering and new reinforced front sway bars. New ignition coil and Optima battery. Storage compartment under removable barrel seats. Steering wheel and windshield are original, and perfect. Completely rewired. Everything works as it should. Note: This is not your typical barn find that someone hacked up and attempted to make a rusty piece to look like an authentic vintage racer. This was a near rust free stock body and chassis with a running motor and transmission. The paint was left untouched, other than putting on a new $450 deck lid. The frame was reinforced [particularly in the rear] for safety reasons due to the increased speed capability. This is a remarkably correct Model T Racer, and is without question one of the finest factory stock component Model T’s anywhere. i am willing to ship this car within 300 miles of 37174 at no cost. Otherwise buyer is responsible for their own shipping. If you have any questions please call me anytime - Brad 727-439-9525. |

Ford F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang appears at EAA Oshkosh
Sat, 26 Jul 2014Ford is back at the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, WI, on July 31 auctioning off its seventh Mustang for charity, and this is one seriously mean looking 2015 'Stang. All of the money from the sale goes to give free introductory flights to young people to get them interested in aviation.
We recently saw this latest EAA Mustang as a sketch. However, it looks a whole lot more menacing in person. Dubbed the Ford F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang, it takes liberal inspiration from Lockheed Martin's latest fighter jet, and the customization makes the pony car look ready for a role in Top Gun.
On the outside, the special Mustang wears titanium-color paint that's offset by a black and yellow stripe running from hood to rear. Out back things get really wild with a mix of bright yellow and black that flows diagonally all the way to the rear spoiler. The design is based on the livery of early production F-35s. If the rousing color scheme isn't enough to get you interested, the car also gets a carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, lowered suspension and a set of custom 21-inch wheels with yellow brake calipers.
2015 Ford F-150 specs revealed, EcoBoost 2.7L to make 325 hp and 375 lb-ft [w/video]
Tue, 22 Jul 2014Our new man Greg Migliore is in attendance at a Ford media event at the Blue Oval's Dearborn, MI headquarters today, and he's reported in with a handful of the 2015 F-150 stats that we've been dying to know. Ford is slow-playing the news release here, but we can still offer up some interesting output and performance figures after half-year of waiting.
We have all be quite aware that Ford's shift to aluminum construction would save a lot of weight for F-150 models, and the results we're hearing now are duly impressive. For instance: in Super Crew trim, a 2015 F-150 is a whopping 732-pounds lighter than was its closest 2014-model-year equivalent. That's like hauling three middle-aged dudes to your bowling alley's league night for free. Polish your balls, guys.
Ford isn't willing to offer up any actual curb weights just yet, but if we take that 732-pound loss and extrapolate with the 5,128-pound curb weight of the 2014 F-150 Super Crew with the 3.7-liter V6, we can guesstimate that 2015 models will measure out in the 4,400-pound range. That's impressive.
Ford shareholders happy as the Blue Oval stays in the black
Fri, May 15 2015Ford posted slightly falling global sales and revenue in its first-quarter financial announcement, but pre-tax profits and operating margins were up. Apparently, that was plenty to keep shareholders happy, though. The Blue Oval's recent investor meeting in Delaware lasted less than an hour, and a vote on the approval of the board passed by over 93 percent. Ford CEO Mark Fields continued to predict a strong year financially and increasing profits, according to the Detroit Free Press. The growth comes thanks in large part to the company's 24 global vehicle launches last year and 15 more this year. The likelihood of significant profits from the strong-selling 2015 F-150 should be especially lucrative, too. In the Q1 announcement, the Blue Oval forecast pre-tax profits between $8.5 billion and $9.5 billion for 2015. During the meeting, Fields said that the next 15 years of changes in the industry represent the "ultimate opportunity as a company. As big as when Henry Ford put the world on wheels more than 100 years ago," according to the Free Press. Investments like the expanded technology center in Silicon Valley should push that work along.
