1926 Ford Model T Touring, Excellent Condition, Many New Components, Clear Title on 2040-cars

1926 Ford Model T Touring car, runs and looks great. Everything is functional that should be, to include:
Clear title in my name (I have yet to receive it from Sec. of State, but am expecting it to arrive in the mail momentarily). Many new or nearly new components, to include: New radiator with new dog bone and motometer - high version New top and top irons New or nearly new tires and tubes New upholstery and door/kick panels Reconditioned coils New lighting wiring harness and timer to coil wiring harness Items of 'interest,' problems or issues: Radiator shell: the car comes with two 1926 all-brass radiator shells (see photos), and as the photos show, the car currently sports a gloss black radiator shell. I had intended to nickel plate one of them, and simply paint the other black so that the car could be driven while the work was done on the plating. I chose the rougher unit as the one to plate, since the plating company was going to do the brazing repairs, dent repairs and polishing prior to the plating, and I thought that the better condition shell would look better painted in the interim. The plating company originally promised me to have the radiator shell done in 'six to eight weeks.' Wow, I thought at the time, that's really a long time to wait, but I agreed to this turnaround time. When 6 weeks had elapsed, I went back to the plating company to see how things were coming, and they told me that they had only just removed the old nickel plating, and had yet to do any of the repairs. "It'll be another month, maybe more, and it will cost you more than we originally quoted you." That, and other local plating companies are two months or more lead time as well to effect this work. I asked them to just give me my unfinished radiator shell back at that time. It is still in need of plating, but some work has been done on it. If the ultimate buyer wants to return the car's appearance to original, then this shell needs nickel plating and perhaps a plating company near you can complete this task in a more timely manner than any plating companies here in the Chicagoland area. I would sincerely hope so. Paint: the paint job on the car is OK, and does not really detract from the general appearance, but it has imperfections here and there. Oil leaks. Virtually all Model T's leak oil, and especially around the 'hogshead' in spots, but this is all part of the fun of owning a Model T. NOT INCLUDED: photos show this Model T equipped with an antique bulb horn (not included with sale), an accordian-style running board luggage rack (not included with sale) and an antique piece of leather luggage (also not included with sale). These three items will be removed prior to buyer taking possession of the car. PayPal deposit of $500 required within 48 hours of eBay purchase, balance due within 7 days of purchase date via certified funds. Shipping at buyer's expense, but seller can provide shipping quote and assist loading. Car will be released for shipping only after all funds have cleared sellers' bank, perhaps 7 to 10 business days or longer. If it appears that the initial successful buyer does not intend to live up to the terms of this posting for any reason whatsoever, seller reserves the right to cancel the transaction and relist the car at any point after the listing has ended, and block the recalcitrant buyer going forward. |

EU formally questions French government assistance of Peugeot's finance arm
Fri, 28 Dec 2012Recently, the finance arm of PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was in such debt trouble that it was pricing itself out of the car loan market. The rates it was paying to service its debt, which was rated one step above junk, were so high that it was forced to charge car-buying customers higher rates than they could find elsewhere. This was adding to Peugeot's already impressive woes by sending revenue out the door to competitors.
Two months ago a deal was worked out with the French government whereby the state would provide 7 billion euro ($9 billion USD) in bonds to guarantee the finance arm's loans. The French government could nominate someone to join the Peugeot board, Peugeot would guarantee more French jobs, and on top of that deal, other banks would provide non-guaranteed loans. The government would take no equity stake in the car company.
Although not yet finalized, the arrangement is meant to create some breathing room for Peugeot Finance to lower its interest rates for customers, and a government-nominated board member, Louis Gallois, was recently named to Peugeot's supervisory board. The arrangement was also openly questioned by at least three competitors: Ford, Renault - which is 15-percent owned by the French government after it received state aid - and the German state of Lower Saxony, itself a 15-percent shareholder in Volkswagen.
MotorWeek relives '80s coupes with Dodge Daytona, Ford Escort EXP
Thu, Aug 6 2015Get ready for a wave of nostalgia and the rapid realization of the huge progress in performance cars over the last 30 years. For its latest Retro Review, MotorWeek takes a look back at two, front-wheel drive coupes from the '80s that seem to have entirely vanished from the roads today. Both the 1986 Dodge Daytona CS and the 1986.5 Ford Escort EXP were considered affordable, sporty options in their day, but the passage of time hasn't been kind to either of their specs. The Daytona certainly looks the part of a performance machine with a body that's reminiscent of other '80s coupes, like the third-gen Chevrolet Camaro. However with 146 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque from a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, acceleration wasn't exactly a strong suit. MotorWeek complained about copious torque steer, as well. The optional CS suspension upgrade package on this Daytona was apparently a nod to Carroll Shelby who was working with Dodge at the time. If anything, the Escort EXP withstands the test of time even worse. As a two-seat coupe, you might have expected Ford's engineers to really turn up the performance to fit the sporty image that the exterior conveyed. That didn't really happen, and depending on which model buyers ordered, they got either 86 horsepower with a 1.9-liter engine or the "high-output" version of that mill with 108 hp.
Ford Fusion demand outstripping supply
Sat, 15 Jun 2013The attractive new 2013 Ford Fusion has done wonders for the brand in the highly competitive midsize sedan segment - the vehicle is up nearly 22 percent compared to last year. But that sales momentum may soon hold steady due to low inventory levels of the new Fusion across the United States.
According to a report in The Detroit News, citing automotive data and Ward's Auto, Ford currently has a 39-day supply of the Fusion. That might sound fine, but a normally healthy average is about a 60-day supply. If Ford were to stop production on the Fusion today, there would only be enough vehicles available to get through another five weeks of sales, according to the News.
Currently, Ford produces the Fusion at its three-shift assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and will add production at its facility in Flat Rock, MI later this year. A Ford spokesperson told The Detroit News that when Flat Rock production comes online, the automaker will need to rush new stock out to the regions with the most demand for the Fusion. Ford has doubled its coastal retail market share, with huge amounts of growth in areas like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami, the News reports.
