Up for sale is a 1969 Ford Galaxie. This car originally came equipped with a 351 Windsor small block and FMX transmission, but a 429 from a 1970 Thunderbird was professionally rebuilt, mated with a C6 transmission, and put into the car. The entire drive train has less than 2000 miles on it after rebuild. The Torq Thrust wheels also have fresh tires on them with the same amount of mileage as the drive train. The cars power steering was made to work with the new setup and handles moving this classic car easily. Upgrades to the engine include, Mallory Ignition, Milodon Oil Pan, New Alternator Brackets, Edelbrock Valve Covers, and Edelbrock Carburetor. The C6 shifts very solidly and responds well to the big blocks torque and power. The engine turns over quickly, idles well, and sounds great through the era-correct glass pack dual exhaust mufflers. The front disc brakes do a good job of stopping this big car, and the suspension, albeit tired, is extremely comfortable to ride in; like a cruise ship on the ocean. The Trunk, containing a working spare, is solid with no rust through, as well as the body panels. There are a few imperfections and nicks in the paint. The chrome of the vehicle is in similar shape, great from a few feet away but showing its age up close, as cars of this era, without restoration, have a tendency to do. The interior would benefit from a good cleaning, but with excepection to a 2 inch tear in the back seat, the upholstery and carpet have held up well. The dash has a pad on it due to a crack underneath and the rear view and passenger side mirrors are included but not on the vehicle. Also included is a brand new convertible top. The current top operates correctly, opening and closing well, but bears the age of the vehicle and would benefit from being replaced with the new, proviced material. The water pump would also benefit from a new gasket against the block. Not major or expensive work, but a good idea for cruising on hot summer days. I have had this car for almost eight years and hate parting with it, but a new baby means she will have to sit outside in the cold if I don't part with it now and I hate to see that happen to such a great car. There were less than 8000 of these beauties made, and arguably less than half still exist. With a little love this car would make a great daily driver. It always turns heads and draws smiles when I take it to the beach here. As with all car sales this Galaxie 500 is sold as is and the winning bidder assumes responsibility for pick up or shipping. I will happily work with the winning bidder to get this vehicle to them after the sale. This car should be towed to its destination as it does not have valid tags.

Ford Transit is America's new best-selling van

Tue, Jan 6 2015

The Ford Motor Company's sales in December ticked up 1.2 percent in the US, and the automaker was down 0.5 percent for 2014. But the Blue Oval looks like it might have a real winner on its hands when it comes to its new Transit van. The recently introduced line nearly doubled its numbers during the month by delivering 10,030 units for an annual total of 20,488 examples sold. It also gave the fullsize model the title of America's bestselling van for December. Those 10,000 sales put the Transit head and shoulders above all of its competitors in the crowded commercial van market. Second place went to the Chevrolet Express with 5,611 sales in December, and the ancient Ford E-Series was third with 5,256 moved. The rest of the segment was somewhat lower, with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter at 3,288 units for the month, Ram ProMaster at 3,036, GMC Savana with 1,725 and Nissan NV at 1,554. December also marked the second month in a row for the Transit to beat out the E-Series in sales. However, its predecessor still won overall for the year with 103,263 units moved in 2014, but it enjoyed a full calendar year of sales. According to Ford spokesperson Mike Levine, the smaller Transit Connect had its best sales month ever for December too, and the automaker has been among the sales leaders in the van segment for the last 36 years. "Clearly, sales show we're best at meeting our customers' needs," said Levine to Autoblog, who touted the model's results on Twitter and cited the Transit's numerous configurations as its biggest selling point. Ford's latest van has other plusses, too, say analysts. "The one thing the Transit has going for it is a low base price relative to the competition. Compare the base price of the Sprinter to the Transit and it is hands-down a Transit win," said Dave Sullivan, auto industry analyst at AutoPacific, to Autoblog. Purely by model name, the Transit was also the bestselling van in November, with 4,851 deliveries. However, the Chevy Express had 4,478 sales, plus 716 more from the GMC Savana. Since these two are the same model beneath the skin, as a platform, they arguably took the title for that month. With a new year already here, the Transit has a new challenge to face. "2015 will be the year that the Transit has to leave the nest, because E-Series inventories will be close to zero and Transit will have to carry all the weight," said Sullivan.

Woman trades 1914 Model T in for 2013 Corvette

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

We're sure that dealers must see all sorts of interesting trade ins, but this one may take the cake. Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently had a customer come in with an odd request. Tina Boyter wanted to trade in three vehicles on a brand-new 2013 Chevy Corvette. Among the hardware was 1980 Corvette, a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1914 Ford Model T. While the '80 Corvette had been her personal car for years, the '78 Eldorado had belonged to Boyter's mother before she traded up to a Lincoln. The big Caddy had just 10,290 miles on the clock when it was traded in.
And the Model T? Boyter says the car was built as a racer by Ford, and that it had been a show winner for years when it belonged to her father. But, after spending the last 16 years in a museum with its fluids drained, Boyter decided it was time to shed some of the past. She walked into the dealer, laid eyes on a white 2LT Corvette with a red interior and offered to trade all three of the vehicles in on the sports car.
Why not wait for the C7? "I fell in love with that one when I walked in the door," She said. We can't fault her there.
