This is a beautiful 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible.   This car will be hard part with, and one I wish I could keep.  First, it's a 1966 conv, which is one of my favorite body styles for the Galaxie.. Second, it's black with excellent original red interior and Gorgeous Raven Black exterior. Third, it was bought new right here in my home town.   The condition is incredible for a car that spent it's life right here in northeastern Ohio.  Reason for the time capsule condition from what I was told is that it was bought new by the city of Lakewood, Oh and used as a official parade car in the late 60s and early 70s (stored in a heated garage if course)  Second and third owners were collectors in Shaker Hts, Oh.... The condition speaks for it's self.   This car was obviously babied and maintained every year of it's life. From looking it over,  I couldn't  find any rust at all, or body work, or evidence of an accident   The paint and chrome in great condition too, I am not sure, but I think most of the paint is original    The car runs and drives excellent.  You could cruise all day on the hwy at 70..  Very smooth, tight and straight.  Everything works except the clock. The radio works great, heater works great too.    The top is brand new with new glass window.   The boot is in good condition, although it's missing a couple snaps.  Please fell free to ask any questions   Someone would be hard pressed to find a nicer example.

Ford GT40 makes historic return to racing at Goodwood

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Is there a more iconic, American racecar than the Ford GT40? That may be a discussion for another day (although by all means, tell us how wrong we are in Comments), but this video of heaps of GT40s running in the Goodwood Revival races certainly has us thinking that Ford's Ferrari-killer might just be the best racer the Land Of The Free and Home Of The Brave has ever come up with.
That's completely ignoring the fact that the GT40 was largely developed by Brits using American money, but that's besides the point (there was also a rather brash Texan, who had a big role later in development). The resulting vehicle was dominant, besting the cars of Il Commendatore from 1966 to 1969, although it should be noted that Ford's GT40 was unable to beat Ferrari in its first two Le Mans outings in 1964 and 1965.
Those four years of dominance, which started with Ford sweeping the podium, were enough to establish the GT40's legend. And now, here we are almost 50 years later, celebrating the mid-engined monsters at Goodwood, in their first ever one-make race. Take a look below for the entire video.

Road & Track samples rare 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R

Sat, Jun 6 2015

The modern performance variant of the Ford Mustang enjoys a long, illustrious history. While well-known examples like the Boss 302, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT500 get all the attention, the modern versions of these cars may not have been possible had it not been for the three generations of the Cobra R, sold in 1993, 1995, and 2000. Limited to just 250 examples, the second-generation model wasn't as rare as the Fox-body Cobra R that preceded it, but they were still pricey and difficult to acquire. Customers were required to hold a competition license in order to take delivery, and prices were roughly equivalent to $59,000 in today's money. As Road & Track tells it, neither of those facts were a handicap – Ford sold its entire roster of 1995 Cobra Rs in just five days. RT's Jack Baruth managed to score a drive in an extremely low-mileage example of this now-vintage track star. He delivers an interesting look into the way a performance car from two decades ago behaves in today's world, and finds that despite its age, the 1995 Cobra R is still "a true sweetheart." Check out the full feature over at Road & Track. Related Video:
