2012 Ford Focus Se Sedan 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Greensboro, North Carolina, United States
This Ford Focus SE 4-door sedan is equipped with a 2.0L direct-injection 4-cylinder engine, making 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque, and a 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Ford's Ti-VCT variable valve timing system helps provide stronger response through the rev range while saving fuel at other times anticipating up to 40 mpg on the highway. The suspension is tuned to be quite firm yet has enough give to soak up heaves and potholes; Ford's electric power-steering system provides good steering weighting and responsiveness as well. In addition, a new torque vectoring system, included with the standard stability control system, balances torque delivery between the front wheels for better poise out of corners. With an all-new shape influenced by what Ford calls 'kinetic design,' the Focus sedan and hatchback employ some of the same design attributes ahead of the rear doors, with a crisp, narrow grille, lower trapezoidal intake, steeply sloped windshield and a deeply sculpted hood and front fenders. Deep creases running along the doors also accent the wedge-like stance. Front seats in the Focus are supportive buckets. Cargo space is quite generous, with a relatively wide trunk opening in the sedan and the back seat folds forward nearly flat. The Focus SE includes air conditioning, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel and CD sound, fog lamps, larger wheels, cruise control, and Ford's MyKey system and Microsoft Sync, which provides voice-command-based connectivity with phones and media players and can perform other actions such as reading texts. Overall, this is an excellent car in excellent condition. As previously mentioned, the exterior paint and interiors are intact; no chips, tears or cracks. **REBUILT TITLE** - Title was salvage but the car has been inspected by the NC DMV and has been branded as REBUILT. Photo of inspection sticker available. **TITLE WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS TO PROCESS** - As previously mentioned, the title has been re-branded as REBUILT and as such, it will take 2 weeks for the new title with the brand to arrive but all DMV inspection documentation is available and in hand. *** ALL OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED ***Please make sure you are going to buy and have the funds to pay for it. Here's what it's like to drive the very first Ford Mustang cop car
Thu, Jan 29 2015As we recently discovered, there's something different about driving a police car. That's true whether you're talking about a modern Dodge Charger Pursuit or, yes, the legendary Ford Mustang SSP. Former Autoblog staffer and current Road and Track web editor Zach Bowman discovered this when he shanghaied a 2015 Mustang GT and made the trip to Nashville, TN to drive the very first Mustang SSP police car. The two-tone, V8-powered prototype was delivered into the welcoming arms of the California Highway Patrol back in 1981 for evaluation. Bowman chatted up cop-car aficionado Mike Strinich, the prototype's current owner, and managed to score some seat time in the car, which provided a unique interesting contrast to the SSP's 435-horsepower junior. Head over to R&T for the complete read.
Mulally to stay at Ford through end of 2014 at least
Fri, 06 Dec 2013Alan Mulally isn't going anywhere... at least not just yet. The CEO who helped turn around Ford Motor Company has been linked to the top job at tech behemoth Microsoft, leading to a flurry of rumors about potential successors. Those rumors, though, may have just been put to rest - at least for a little while.
Speaking to Edsel Ford II (great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford) at the unveiling of the new Mustang, Automotive News Europe confirmed that Mulally would stick around until the end of next year. "Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that's all I know," said Ford. "Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014."
Presuming that Edsel Ford is correct and that Microsoft isn't so hot on Mulally that it saves the position for him, it seems increasingly likely that the 68-year-old exec is more interested in continuing to work in Dearborn rather than in Redmond.
Ford files patent for 11-speed transmission
Sat, Apr 11 2015The automatic transmission seemed limited to three or four gears for decades, and then the automotive world slowly started to see more ratios becoming available. Today, seven-, eight- or nine-speed gearboxes have become rather common. Ford even has an automatic with 10 gears on the way for the future F-150 Raptor. The Blue Oval might not be done yet, though, because the company also now has a patent on an 11-speed box. The filing, which was discovered by AutoGuide, says this idea "produces eleven forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio by selective engagement of three shift elements in various combinations," and the company outlines three different ways of making this possible. The advantage of adding one more ratio is that the gearbox should be able to keep the revs in the ideal portion of the engine's torque curve even longer. Obviously, automakers patent ideas constantly, and applying for one is no guarantee that the tech ever arrives on the market. Conversely, these documents provide a tiny glimpse at one of the brand's focuses of development. If you're mechanically minded or just curious, you can read the entire application here for the technical nitty-gritty.
