I have a rare and hard to find 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 Formal Hardtop for sale. This rare 68 beauty is all original and unmolested (other than a re-paint) It only has 101k miles and RUNS, DRIVES and HANDLES absolutely amazing! The original 302 runs extremely strong. No smoke, no leaks, and appears to have been built at some point. It has dual exhaust and sounds awesome! It has been well maintained mechanically as you'll see when you drive it. It has new tires. Brakes have been re-done and stop the car very well. It does not have power brakes or power steering but the brakes work so well you wouldn't know they aren't power. THIS IS an original A/C car and all the components are there. The fan will blow but the compressor does not come on. I can't stress enough how great this car runs and drives! This car is VERY ROAD WORTHY and needs nothing mechanically! Drive it anywhere! I would consider this car a "sleeper".

Put on some nice looking vintage style sporty wheels and tires and that would top it off! In fact, I took the Magnum 500 Wheels and tires off my 66 Mustang Fastback and put on the Fairlane. I took some pictures to show what it would like like. See the pics! I will sell the Magnum 500 Wheels with Cooper Cobra Tires in GREAT condition separately for an additional $700  THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE.

The interior is in really nice condition and all original except the headliner...It's new. The carpet is original and only faded slightly in the sun exposed areas. The seat upholstery looks very nice for its age but does have a couple of tears in the driver seat area. One small tear in the center of driver area and then a larger tear in a "not so visible" area in the corner. The dash looks nice as well. All the components in the dash work. The only thing missing is the original radio. It has an aftermarket radio installed and mounted under the dash so no holes were cut. Door panels look good but do have some fading

The trunk area is all original and in good condition. No rot or rust anywhere in the trunk. Still has the original spare tire mounted in its place with the jack. It appears the fuel tank has been replaced at some point.

The exterior of the car has been repainted at some point in the past. Although the pictures make the car look very nice (and it really does!) there are few areas where the paint has chipped and one area where the newer paint has flaked off. There is VERY MINIMAL rust in this car. What rust is there is only surface and would certainly not require any metal replacement by any means. THIS IS A SOLID CAR! Floor pans are solid! The car appears to have had some minor body work near the tail lights and it does look like the bondo has began to crack. Very minor but it you were going to ever re-paint the car I would recommend fixing that at the same time. The body molding around the car have a few dings here and there but still look ok. The car itself is very straight and no dings to speak of.

This is a great driver quality car! Keep and enjoy it as is or would be an easy and affordable restoration.

The car is originally from Texas. In fact I have the original Texas TITLE from 1968. This title is not transferable. The car will be sold with a Bill of Sale only.

2015 Ford Mustang: Obsessively covered [w/videos + poll]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

Here at Autoblog, we've officially stamped December 5, 2013, as Ford Mustang Day. Sure, the sixth-generation Pony Car started leaking out onto the web days ago, but all of the official, non-embargoed hotness has come out today. And man, there's been a lot.
In terms of new car debuts, this is a really big one - not unlike all of the Corvette madness that kicked off the 2013 automotive season. So to make sure you haven't missed anything, here's a wrap-up of everything you need to know about the 2015 Ford Mustang.

Ford's Farley will challenge dealers to cut EV cost to customers by $2,000

Fri, Sep 9 2022

DETROIT — Ford Motor Co Chief Executive Jim Farley will go to Las Vegas next week to roll the dice on a strategy to convince dealers to cut as much as $2,000 from the cost of delivering an electric vehicle to a customer. Ford has told dealers that one key topic for the meetings will be a discussion of new agreements that would govern how dealers sell Ford's expanding lineup of electric vehicles. Farley told analysts in July that Ford needs to cut $2,000 a vehicle out of selling and distribution costs to be competitive with Tesla Inc and other electric vehicle startups that sell directly to consumers without franchised dealers. About a third of those savings could come from what Farley called a "low inventory model," where customers order a vehicle and Ford ships it to the customer, rather than stocking vehicles on dealer lots for weeks or months. "We think that's about -- worth maybe $600, $700 in our system," Farley told analysts. Tesla can also adjust prices rapidly on its website, and keep most of the gain from a price increase. Ford declined to comment other than to say “we are excited to meet next week with our North America dealers to grow and win together.” Dealers said they expect Ford to outline minimum investments for charging stations and other equipment to support electric vehicle customers. A key question will be how quickly dealers will be required to install chargers, which dealers said can cost as much as $500,000. "The manufacturers so far have let us scale into it and I think Ford will hopefully do the same thing. You just can't say, 'Listen, we're going to sell 2 million electric cars five years from now and we expect you to put in five superchargers,'" said Rhett Ricart, owner of Ricart Ford, a large dealership in Columbus, Ohio. Tesla's success at selling electric vehicles without franchised dealers is putting pressure on all established automakers to overhaul their retail networks. A shift by Ford to a Tesla-style build to order system could come with caps on the profit margins dealers can earn on a new vehicle sale, some dealers said. "I see dealer margins still being very competitive, but they are going to shift," Farley said in July. Ford intends to put more emphasis on selling products and services after the initial vehicle sale, he said. Dealers said state franchise laws could give dealers leverage to resist efforts by Ford to set fixed prices or fixed fees for delivering electric vehicles.

New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
