Hi everyone, You are bidding on a 2003 Ford F450 crew cab with the powerful 6.0l turbo charged engine. This truck has the lariat trim package and so much more. It is the crew cab and has all the space you'll need for work and play. I acquired this truck from one of my customers that had an unexpected expense and was not able to pay me for the repairs completed. I am the lead diesel tech for our local dealership and have over 18 years of experience and hold a master certification. I have a side business maintaining and fixing diesel tow trucks, fleets, and also personal vehicles. I will describe this vehicle in sections, so i can be more exact in the description of this great truck.

The Exterior,

This truck is the crew cab body and is black in color. The previous owner said he had it repainted around a year ago and looks good. All panels are in good condition and nothing is falling off. The truck has small dents and scratches like you would expect to see in a truck of its age. Please see pics and judge for yourself. It shows well and has a good shine. The tailgate is the only part that has dents on it, but is a part that is easily replaced if you would want to. It locks and closes properly. The bumpers are in great shape and chrome shines like new. All decals are there and running boards are also in good shape, not cracked or hanging down. All glass is in great shape and no cracks. This truck has a heavy duty tow hitch and also has a gooseneck ball in the middle of the bed. It also has an electric brake controller that works fine. The bed has a hard foldable cover to protect whatever you put in it. All lights work fine and the bed and cab lights are LED's and look great at night.

Interior,

This truck has the lariat package, so interior is the highest trim package. It has leather seats and all the bells and whistles that come with this package. The interior condition shows normal leather wear, it has cracks in the leather in common areas of interior. I had the truck detailed and must admit, came out better than i thought. please see pics. The previous owner had a complete sound system installed from the alpine head unit, alpine amplifiers and custom bass enclosure behind the seats. It sounds great. All gauges work as they should and all systems from AC and heater system are 100% functional.

Wheels and tires,

The wheels on this truck are 19.5 inch wheels. They are in great conditions and the pictures prove it. The rear tires were worn out and decided to replace them before offering the truck for sale. They have only 10 miles on them!!!!!!!!! The front steer tires have about 85% to 90% of tread on them. Previous owner said they were replaced around 4 months ago. So you will get a truck with all NEW tires, and we all know how much these tires cost!! Also the tires are the bigger size (245) instead of (225) wider stance and stability.

Brakes and safety,

The front and rear brakes are NEW!!!!!!!  The right rear caliper was replaced due to small leak. I will not take any chances when it comes to safety!!!! caliper was replaced and fluid was also flushed. Truck stops on a dime.  ABS system also works fine and no codes in system.

Power train,

This truck has the powerful 6.0l turbo diesel engine. We all know that these engines had some issues, But I'm here to say that this engine has all those issues taken care of. This truck came to me because the turbo failed. I replaced the turbo at the customers request and noticed the engine had some leaks. I explained to the customer what was involved and he said to go ahead and reseal entire engine. I removed the engine and stripped it down to the short block. Cleaned all parts and not a bit of oil anywhere. During the process of replacing all seals from the oil pan to valve covers, The owner took my recommendations to replace some wear items like, glow plugs, glow plug harnesses and multiple injectors that came up during testing. For the record, ALL parts that were used are original replacement parts from ford. Every part was torqued to factory specs from oil pan bolts to especially the cylinder heads. Because the customer did not want to have any other issues, i convinced him to replace the oil cooler, high pressure pump, radiator, and install an EGR delete kit from sinister diesel. Keep in mind that he recently had a diesel programmer installed (SCT) and also has a full exhaust system installed as well. Lets not forget that the turbo is also new from ford. Ill end this by telling you that whom ever purchases this truck, I have all the pictures showing everything that was done to this truck. So don't take my word for it, see it with your own eyes!!

Transmission and final drive

Previous owner said that trans was replaced around 70k miles ago, and shifts perfectly. Rear end has no leaks and works as it should.

Fuel system,

This truck had twin fuel tanks and selector switch work as it should. Fuel gauge works and is accurate. The fuel filters were replaced along with the oil filter.

All in all, This truck is ready to work!!! Please know that i reserve the right to end at any time due to it is also listed locally. Please feel free to ask any questions and i respond quickly. I don't have a buy it now price, but feel free to send an offer. If you live close to the chicago area, please feel free to set up a viewing or a test drive.

P.S.   This truck has a great turbo whistle, and sounds like a beast when you hit the throttle. Good luck and happy bidding. I have a 100% feedback score for a reason!!! if you have a low feedback score, please contact me.

How Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra will take on the Ford F-150 profit machine

Fri, Aug 10 2018

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — When General Motors engineers were developing the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, some of them joined public tours of Ford's Dearborn, Mich., factory to watch aluminum-bodied F-Series trucks go down the assembly line. The redesign of the Ford F-Series trucks, launched in 2014, set a new standard for fuel economy and lightweight vehicle construction. But armed with stopwatches and trained eyes, the GM engineers believed they saw problems. "They had a real hard time getting those doors to fit," Tim Herrick, the executive chief engineer for GM truck programs, told Reuters. His team did more intelligence gathering. They bought and tore apart Ford F-Series doors sold as repair parts. Their conclusion: GM could cut weight in its trucks for a lower cost using doors made of a combination of aluminum and high-strength steel that could be thinner than standard steel, shaving off kilograms in the process. These pounds-and-pennies decisions will have major implications in the highest-stakes game going in Detroit: dominance in the world's most profitable vehicle market, the gasoline-fueled large pickup segment. What's more, GM is banking on strong sales of overhauled 2019 Silverados and GMC Sierras to fund its push into automated and electric vehicles — a business many investors see as the auto industry's long-term future. The risks are high given the hits automakers have taken from U.S. President Donald Trump's trade policies. Rising aluminum prices spurred by Trump's tariffs are driving up costs on the Ford's F-Series, while rising steel and aluminum prices likewise drag on GM results. GM also has a significant risk should the United States, Mexico and Canada fail to agree on a new NAFTA trade deal, given GM trucks built at its Silao, Mexico, factory could face a 25 percent tariff if NAFTA collapses. Major profit per truck Interviews with GM executives and a tour at its factory here in northwest Indiana provide a detailed look inside GM's plan for the most important vehicles in its global lineup. These big pickups are everything Tesla's Model 3 or Chevy's Bolt electric car is not. The mostly steel body is bolted to the truck's steel frame, rather than the one-piece body and frame electric vehicles. The majority of trucks will have a V-8 gasoline engine powering the rear wheels — like the classic GM cars of the 1950s. Some Silverados will have new four-cylinder engines, but there is no electric or hybrid offering as of now.

Second-tier UAW workers promoted for first time after Ford hits quota

Mon, Feb 2 2015

The United Auto Workers put out a statement on Friday that 55 Ford workers chosen by seniority would be moved from the Tier 2, entry-level pay rate of around $19 per hour to the Tier 1, non-entry-level rate of about $28 per hour. One of the stipulations in the 2011 UAW-Ford agreement was that only 20-percent of the total hourly workforce could be paid the Tier 2 wages agreed upon in 2007; after that, those workers had to be moved to Tier 1. Even so, the new Tier 1 status makes them less expensive to Ford than veteran Tier 1 workers because they receive fewer benefits. However, Automotive News had reported that same day that Ford was 69 workers shy of the limit, and when AN asked Ford about the situation Ford said it had "some room" on the entry-level roster. If workers do move to the higher pay grade, it will be the first time that's happened since the two-tier system was agreed. But it sounds like there's going to be some haggling between the UAW and Ford before that happens. Ford is the only one of the Detroit 3 automakers to have to work with a cap, since it didn't go through bankruptcy proceedings during The Great Recession; General Motors and Chrysler jettisoned the cap in 2009. GM is said to have 16 percent of its hourly workers at Tier 2 while Chrysler has 42 percent, but Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has long been opposed to the two-wage system. The UAW is preparing for its 2015 negotiations with the US automakers. It wants to eliminate the difference in pay by going to the higher scale, if there is a consensus among automakers it seems to be that they also want a single wage, but less than the higher scale, with the addition of profit-based bonuses. The recent statement from the labor union is below. UAW President Dennis Williams and UAW-Ford Vice President Jimmy Settles announced today that the union is delivering on its promise to convert workers DETROIT, Jan. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- UAW President Dennis Williams and UAW-Ford Vice President Jimmy Settles announced today that the union is delivering on its promise to convert workers making entry-level wages to traditional employees. "The 2011 UAW-Ford agreement allows for a contractual limit of entry-level employees. Once that threshold is surpassed, entry-level employees convert by seniority to 'regular, non-entry level employment.' At this time, fifty-five UAW-Ford workers will receive the wage increases, which put them in the category of non entry-level employment.

Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.
