2002 Ford F-350 on 2040-cars
Merry Hill, North Carolina, United States
More details at: claudecddittmar@uk8.net .
It's a 2002 F350 Lariat Crew Cab Dually 4x4 that doesn't look like a 2002. The front is from the 2005-2007 6.0 F350
and it's a bolt on conversion. It was done with new factory parts. The tailgate, rear bumper, hitch and chrome step
rails are from the 2014 F350 and are also new factory parts. I didn't replace all of these parts due to damage, I
just had more money than sense. I used the truck as an occasional driver and to pull our 32' travel trailer. I did
all of the work and additions with the thinking I would use it until I was too old to travel but we bought a
motorhome and I no longer use it.
The truck is in super clean, excellent condition, not perfect but it's 14 years old. Stored under cover. The paint
is in great condition, no major scratches, dents or fading. It does have a couple of small door dings and some minor
rock chips. The interior is super clean. Some very minor wear is noticeable on edge of seats but leather is overall
very nice and still smells like leather, carpet looks new, no cracking or discoloration on dash or door panels. It
comes with a full set of beige WeatherTech Floor Liners. The 4x4 is manual hubs with the 4x4 shifter on the left
side of transmission tunnel. After having two Super Dutys with shift on the fly 4x4, I swore never again. They're
notoriously unreliable. Everything works, no known problems. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged.
Pioneer AVIC 7" Touchscreen In Dash Navigation Reciever with DVD/CD, AM/FM, HD Radio, XM Satellite Radio, Color HD
Backup Camera (camera in Ford emblem on tailgate), Bluetooth Hands Free Telephone, USB, Aux Audio Input
JL Audio Speakers Separates with windshield post mounted tweeters front, door speakers in rear doors.
JL Audio Subwoofer Box behind rear seat
Memphis Audio Four Channel Amp under rear seat
The audio system is set up for listening to about any type of music, it's not a booming, irritate the crap out of
everyone on the road affair.
Leer Camper Shell
Ford AIS Heavy Duty Air Filter
Bilstein Shock Absorbers
4" Turbo Back Stainless Steel Exhaust (it's not loud)
Prodigy Brake Controller
In Bed Flip Over Gooseneck Hitch
2014 2-1/2" Reciever Hitch with 2" sleeve
I just replaced the two front tires, the rear tires are about 40% to 50% tread
The brakes have good pad left on all four and the rotors are not warped.
I just replaced the starter with a new Ford, not aftermarket starter. The right front hub was replaced last year.
Mechanically the truck is in excellent condition and has been regularly serviced.
I installed an Edge Insight Monitor which is mounted in a dash colored pod on the left top dash. Its an electronic
gauge package and displays EGT, Water and Oil Temps, Transmission Temp, Battery Voltage and a lot of other things
if you want.
Also installed is a DP Tuner Chip for the ECU. This is a mild performance chip for towing and daily driving fuel
economy. It's not a hot rodded truck. I'm almost sixty and take care of my vehicles. More information can be found
by doing a web search for DP Tuner.
It's their F5 Chip with dash mounted switch. There are four programs on it:
Stock
40 HP Towing
60 HP Towing
80 HP Daily Driving
Easily removed if desired.
Also installed is an Oil Bypass Filter System. This uses a very efficient oil filter that bypasses a small amount
of oil from the regular oil filter flow and filters it down to 3 microns, much more than the stock filter. Most
folks use this along with oil analysis to extend oil change intervals. I intended to do this as well, but stopped
using the truck before the oil had 5000 miles on it. This is also easily removed if unwanted.

Dan Gurney, legendary all-American racer, dies at 86
Mon, Jan 15 2018American racer Dan Gurney, who raced and won in Formula One, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR in the 1960s and who started a trend by spraying champagne on the victory podium, died in California on Sunday. He was 86. The news was announced by his wife, Evi, and family in a statement. "With one last smile on his handsome face, Dan drove off into the unknown just before noon today, January 14, 2018," they said. "In deepest sorrow, with gratitude in our hearts for the love and joy you have given us during your time on this earth, we say, 'Godspeed.'" The family said Gurney, whose Formula One career spanned one of the most glamorous and dangerous periods of the sport's history from 1959 to 1970, had died of complications from pneumonia. He won seven IndyCar races, five in NASCAR and four in F1, placing second twice in the Indianapolis 500. He raced in multiple series concurrently throughout much of his career. He was the first of just three drivers to win races in four series — sports cars, Indycars, Formula One and NASCAR. The feat was later replicated by Mario Andretti and Joan Pablo Montoya. At the height of his popularity, in 1964, Car and Driver promoted the idea of electing him president. He retired from racing in 1970 but returned for a NASCAR race in 1980. Between 1965 and 2012, his All American Racers, which he founded with Carroll Shelby and Goodyear, built 158 race cars and is the only constructor to have built a winning F1 Grand Prix car, a winning Indy 500 car and a winning Sports Car. 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost loses big power on 87 octane
Mon, Jan 5 2015The 2015 Ford Mustang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder is a pretty potent package on paper. With 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, it boasts better performance numbers than the 3.7-liter V6, but with better fuel economy as an added benefit. However, if you're in the market for one of these boosted 'Stangs, you should probably keep in mind that it really prefers to gulp premium, 93-octane fuel. It can drink 87-octane swill in a pinch, but you're going to find significantly less power underfoot when pulling away. While it's not shocking that the ponies are dialed back with a lower grade of gasoline, an alleged page from a Ford training manual obtained by Mustang 6G purports to show just how much power is lost, though. According to this document, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque when running on lower octane fuel. That's a substantial reduction of about 11.3 percent compared to when the engine drinks 93 octane. Interestingly, according to Mustang 6G, that finding was a bit better than expected, because a Ford engineer reportedly said power would be down about 13 percent without altering peak torque. In speaking with Autoblog, Paul Seredynski of Ford powertrain communications, objected to part of this document. While he couldn't confirm the specific losses listed for the Mustang EcoBoost, "torque remains unchanged" with lower octane gasoline, Seredynski said. He speculated this training manual page was "possibly from before the engine was certified" and therefore showed incorrect figures. Serendynski did confirm that the automaker recommends using 93 octane, and like all modern engines, the software adapts if it's lower. "Peak power would be reduced" by using a lesser grade, he confirmed. 1964 Ford GT40 prototype to be auctioned in April
Wed, 12 Mar 2014The Ford GT40 owns a firm spot on the list of the greatest American racecars ever made, being the first car from the United States to take an overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And now Mecum will auction what it claims is second-oldest GT40 still in existence at its Houston sale on April 12.
The story of the GT40 is fascinating. Henry Ford II attempted to buy Ferrari in the early '60s, but Enzo refused. Ford decided if he couldn't have them, then he would beat the Prancing Horse on the track. Ford went to Carroll Shelby and asked him to spearhead the program. The early cars combined a steel monocoque chassis with Ford's 4.2-liter V8 engine pumping out around 350 horsepower. The first prototype made its public debuted on April 1, 1964, at the New York Auto Show.
Shelby kept building prototypes, including GT/104, which is for sale here. This version featured a lighter steel chassis and was raced at Le Mans in 1964. However, a fire forced it to retire. It was then repainted and had a 4.7-liter (289-cubic-inch) engine fitted. The chassis had its best finish at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometers where it finished third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther behind the wheel. Later that season, it was shipped back to Ford where it was restored and displayed at auto shows until 1971 when the automaker sold it. Since then, it has had many private owners.
