For sale is my 1985 Ford E-150 Starcraft Conversion van. The vehicle has a clean title with no accident history and is currently at 143,XXX miles. It has a 302 V8 with a 4-speed automatic transmission. I purchased the van 1 year ago from a friend, whose grandparents bought the van brand new in 1985, then kept it in Florida for 22 years. For that reason, there is very little rust on the body.

The good:

- Newer tires (3 years ago, tons of tread)
- New front brakes (last fall - pads, rotors, 1 caliper, both rubber lines, fluid bled all 4 corners)
- Transmission rebuilt (5-6 years ago)
- Transmission cooler installed when trans. was rebuilt
- New spark plugs (1 year ago)
- Newer shocks (5 years ago)
- Comes with a Starcraft beverage cooler
- Middle captains chairs swivel!
- TV antenna on the roof!
- Power windows
- Power door locks
- Dual 18 gallon fuel tanks
- Cruise control
- Rear dome lamps AND track lighting!
- Rear bench folds into a full-size bed
- Cassette tape storage in center console for your Credence tapes!
- EVERYTHING WORKS except A/C

The Bad:

- Oil seeps slowly from valve covers (4"x4" puddle after parked for a month)
- Some rust forming at door hinges
- A/C does not work and is not converted to R-134A

I am only selling because I now have access to a crew-cab truck so I no longer need this vehicle. In the time I've owned it, it has been a reliable and very comfortable ride. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Chrysler called out over lackluster Ram Runner by racer who helped develop it

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Fans of off-roading and desert blasting might recall that Chrysler offers an aftermarket conversion that can turn a Ram 1500 into a road-legal desert racer, called the Ram Runner. The kit, sold through Mopar, includes some significant suspension upgrades, body tweaks and a brawnier cat-back exhaust for the truck's 5.7-liter V8.
Considering all of this, comparisons with the almighty Ford F-150 SVT Raptor are common. Among the off-road community, that makes these two a sort of Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang for people that prefer driving on dirt. In the Race-Dezert forum, the discussion as to which truck was better was proceeding as normal - Ram fans said their piece and Ford fans said theirs. Then, a man named Kent Kroeker offered up his two cents.
See, Kroeker is a Baja racer, and the man that helped develop the Ram Runner. Despite his association with the truck, though, he had some less than kind words for Chrysler and the Ram Runner.

Does the new 2015 Ford Mustang have a burnout control system?

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

Whether it's lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring or automatic emergency braking, most of the electronic systems we see emerging on new vehicles focus on safety. But there are some there just for enthusiasts. We're talking about systems like automatic throttle blipping for perfect downshifts, or launch control to get that textbook acceleration from a standstill. But the latest system could prove just the opposite of the latter.
Although it has given us most of the details, Ford is still keeping certain elements of its new Mustang secret. But emerging reports may have the skinny on one system which Ford is trying is darnedest to keep under its hat for the time being. That, according to unnamed sources cited by Motor Authority, is burnout control.
The system is reportedly designed to help novices execute the perfect smokey burnout - sort of like launch control, but specifically the opposite. The system could, according to elaborative speculation, lock the front brakes while spooling up the engine to optimal revolutions before dumping (or indicating the driver to do dump) the clutch. A cloud of tire smoke and a long pair of skid marks would then ensue.

First 1K next-gen Mustangs to carry 2014 1/2 model year?

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

A new report from Mustangs Daily, citing insider sources at Ford, tells us that the Blue Oval will produce 1,000 next-generation Mustangs with the model year designation of 2014 ½, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the storied marque. The commemorative half-year designation is a rumor that's been swirling in Mustang forums for quite some time now, and seems more plausible than ever with this most recent report. Certainly it's not far-fetched to believe that Ford will want to make a big deal of the golden anniversary for its most-loved model.
The story (compiled by Drew Phillips, who runs the aforementioned Mustang site when he's not directing the photography on these pages) goes on to say that the limited-run cars will be the first built on the new Mustang platform internally known as S550 (and spied testing in the attached gallery). Each car is said to carry a "special" VIN and build number, though no performance upgrades versus the 2015 cars to follow are in the works. A collector's dream then, rather than a weekend racer's.
