1998 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor with just over 200,000 miles.  This vehicle is extremely dependable and runs great, I would not hesitate to head across the country with it today.  This Vic started life as a gasoline powered car but was converted from day one by the King County Police Department in King County Washington to run on both Compressed Natural Gas and Gasoline.  The Car is equipped with a Technocarb system and it works FLAWLESSLY!  I have owned this car for a little over 3 years, and the fuel savings have nearly payed for the car (Not even counting the amount of money it has saved me on traffic tickets).  I use CNG for all my daily around town driving, and then at the flip of a rocker switch on the dash, I can switch to gasoline and i'm free to drive where ever I want.  It currently has 2 tanks in the trunk that fill at 3600 PSI and have a capacity of just under 5 gallons.  It has been extremely reliable and hasn't needed much mechanical work at all with the exception of two coil packs and a thermostat......about 20 minutes worth of work and less than $60 in 3 years of driving.  This car has been great to me and the only reason I am selling it is because I bought a new car and it has been sitting in indoor climate controlled storage since.  It currently has Firestone Winterforce tires on the back and it tracks unbelievably in the snow!  This car did spend the majority of it's life on the west coast so it is extremely solid!  The only flaws with the car is that it has an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold, the left turn signal is stuck on right now so I pulled the fuse (I will try to fix that before it sells as I have another 02 Crown Vic parts car),  and the CNG tanks did expire at the beginning of the year.  Like I mentioned, I have an 02 Dedicated CNG Crown Victoria that I can use for parts, so I will include (seperately) 2 CNG tanks that are good until 2017!  They are slightly larger than the ones that are currently installed, so it will give the car a greater range.  This car does have minor paint flaws as most original paint P71's do, however, with the twin spotlights and the push bar, nearly every cop waves to me even when I'm driving 15 mph over the speed limit, and I OWN THE LEFT LANE on the highway! Cars will duck into the right lane when i'm a mile behind them!  It's the ultimate car for someone who wants to save time and money on their daily commute and still have the option of driving anywhere you want with gasoline.  Gas prices are said to rise again soon, and this car will be paying itself off in no time. You can have the peace of mind knowing that you're not making terrorist rich while you are burning 100% AMERICAN FUEL and you are GREENER THAN A PRIUS while driving a full size, rear wheel drive, American V8....It doesn't get much better than that.  Please call Mike anytime at 815-621-2027.

I have the vehicle for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Thanks!

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Weekly Recap: Toyota propels hydrogen fuel cells

Sat, Jan 10 2015

Toyota is serious about hydrogen fuel cells, and it wants the auto industry to follow suit. The Japanese automaker said this week it's releasing 5,680 fuel cell patents from around the world, including technologies used on its upcoming sedan, the 2016 Mirai. The move is unusual, but not unprecedented, as Tesla similarly released its electric vehicle patents last year. The idea for Tesla, and now for Toyota, is to spur development of alternative propulsion. "By eliminating traditional corporate boundaries, we can speed the development of new technologies and move into the future of mobility more quickly, effectively and economically," said Bob Carter, Toyota Motor Sales senior vice president of automotive operations, in a statement. Toyota's fuel cell patents will be free to use through 2020, though patents related to producing and selling hydrogen will remain open forever. Toyota said it would like companies that use its patents to share their own hydrogen patents, but won't require it. "What Toyota's doing is really a logical move, and really a good move for the industry," Devin Lindsay, principal powertrain analyst with IHS Automotive, told Autoblog. The announcement was made at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It comes as Toyota prepares to launch the hydrogen-powered Mirai in a limited number late this year in California. The launch will be extended to the Northeastern United States next year. Toyota also has announced plans to support networks of fueling stations in each region to try to smooth consumer adoption. The Mirai has a 300-mile range on a tank of hydrogen, and it takes about five minutes to refill. Fuel cells have been receiving increased attention recently, and Audi and Volkswagen debuted hydrogen-powered cars at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Honda, another proponent of the technology, also showed its updated FCV concept in November in Japan. The company, however, has delayed its fuel cell sedan a year until 2016. Like Toyota, Honda says its hydrogen-powered car will have a range of 300 miles or more. Meanwhile, Hyundai currently offers leases for fuel-cell powered Tucsons, which have a 265-mile range, in Southern California. Despite the optimism some automakers have for fuel cells, the technology still faces barriers. A lack of filling stations has long held it back, and many consumers are not familiar with the potential benefits.

Ford applies to trademark term 'Lincoln eGlide'

Thu, Apr 30 2020

There's an epilogue to Ford's recent announcement that it's giving up on a battery-electric Lincoln co-developed with Rivian. The MachEClub forum discovered that just a week ago, Ford applied with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the term "Lincoln eGlide." The goods and services category details use for "Motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, sport utility vehicles, electric vehicles and structural parts and fittings; electric vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, sport utility vehicles, and structural parts and fittings." Living in an age where a small "e" is shorthand for "electric," and Ford having specified electric vehicles in the patent, the go-to guess is that this is for an electric vehicle. The inclusion of non-electric motor vehicles injects a little fuzziness. Tesla's trademark on the Model S specifies "electric automobiles" only, whereas Rivian's trademark for the R1T seeks coverage for "land vehicles" and just about every part found in or on a land vehicle.   Since Ford must have known about the end of the Rivian effort when it applied for the trademark, we suppose Lincoln has got some kind of eGlide coming no matter what. Lincoln refers to the theme of its latest cabin designs, as in the Aviator and Corsair, "Quiet Flight," and the road-scanning adaptive suspension on the Lincoln Aviator is called "Air Glide," neither term being trademarked. This leads our suspicions to eGlide becoming a vehicle component that could potentially serve a model with any powertrain, not necessarily battery-electric only, and eGlide won't be the name of the Lincoln EV that Ford says is still on the way. Another clue is that Ford included the word "Lincoln" in the term. Trademarked vehicle names such as Aviator and Corsair don't include the make, but services for vehicles do, such as the trademarks for Lincoln Connect and Lincoln Co-Pilot 360. We'll admit that a little bit of hope informs this line of thinking as well. Ford having done Lincoln the fabulous service of giving Lincolns terrific names, we'd be aghast if the Corsair and Navigator had to share showroom space with an eGlide. We've no choice but to wait for a retail product to provide answers. In the meantime, if we could just get to the bottom of this "Fastor Charge" trademark, and what's this bit about "Vandemonium?"   Related Video:
