1988 Ltd Crown Victoria Lx Station Wagon (not A Country Squire) on 2040-cars
Glassboro, New Jersey, United States
|
Factory LTD without the fake wood sides (those are Country Squires, this is an LTD Crown Victoria Station Wagon). Previous owners were non-smokers. Paint is faded but body and chrome are in good shape. There are a couple small dings on the back. Badging are missing. There is a patch where the clear coat is flaking off on the side of the left front quarter panel and there is some orange peel rust coming through the bottom of the left rear quarter panel. My mechanic says it is rusty underneath but not rusted through. The magic gate in back opens, but must be slammed hard to shut and the window doesn't roll down. This is an LX version with all the goodies and most everything works except the AC and the rear drivers side window. It has a 5.0 fuel injected V8 with a limited slip rear differential. The interior is in excellent condition. No dash cracks. No rips to the dark blue velour bench seats. Headliner is clean, in tact, and not sagging. So far have put over $3,000 into it. New tires and alignment, new smog pump, new thermostat, new headlights, new steel fuel line, new steel brake line, rear axle bearings repacked and resealed. Passed NJ inspection with a sticker until 2015. Runs and stops. I use it as a daily driver. Having said that, this is a 25 year old car with lots of squeaks and rattles. The motor runs strong. Just turned over 100K. The AC doesn't work and needs a conversion. I am offering the car as is with no warranty intended or implied. Winning bidder pays shipping or transportation costs. I have clean title and will exchange for cash only. I purchased this car in June from the second owner. He was a mechanic and used it to haul parts out in Red Lion, PA. Apparently, for the last couple years he was in ill health and died early this year. The car had been sitting for several months when I bought it from his widow and began putting money into it. Recently, I was transferred to a facility that is much farther away and as much as I love this car (so does everyone once else -- lots of honks and people coming up to you in supermarket parking lots), it will be too expensive for me to drive it back and forth now which is why I am considering selling it assuming the price is right.

Lincoln trumpets $129M investment, 300 new jobs in Louisville for MKC
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Remember when we used to talk about how close Lincoln was to being axed and how it seemed any day now the Grim Reaper would use it as a car service back to the grave? Last time we did it was, oh, not even a month ago. What a difference 27 days makes: Ford and Lincoln are trumpeting a $129M investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant that builds the MKC.
In July the MKC was the third-best-selling Lincoln of the brand's six offerings, beat by the MKZ and - by a much smaller margin - the MKX. It has sold 2,895 units in the two months it's been on sale, which is more than half the year-to-date sales of the MKS, MKT and Navigator. It's already important, is what we're trying to say, and this is before the Chinese market gets a crack at it later this year.
The money headed to Kentucky will be joined by 300 new workers, another marker in Ford's march to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the US by next year. You can read more about it in the press release below.
Ford S-Max Concept previews new look, technology for Euro seven-seater
Wed, 28 Aug 2013Ford unveiled today the S-Max Concept, which comes with a new, sleek look and loaded with innovative technology, such as a heart-rate monitoring seat. But if you're heart is set on a minivan sports activity vehicle (SAV) and you live in the States, don't wait for this one - it's a Europe-only product, and we don't expect that to change when the next-gen S-Max is released.
The styling follows Ford's global design language, looking a bit like an overgrown Focus hatchback with the company's signature grille, wraparound headlamps, steeply raked windshield and curved roof line. Ford also implemented details to make the S-Max look longer and faster, such as a feature line on each side of the vehicle and muscular-looking fenders. The engine isn't Ford's most powerful, but the new 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine should be potent enough with turbocharging and other efficiency related technologies.
Ford says the new interior, which seats up to seven people, features high-quality materials and fine detailing, such as an "ultra-soft" leather wrap for the instrument panel and leather and carbon-fiber details on the seats. Ford's Sync connectivity system with MyFord Touch makes the car a wireless hotspot, and there's a tablet docking station for second-row occupants.
Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems
Sun, 10 Mar 2013The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.
