This is an extremely solid 1977 Ford Bronco from the dry state of Texas. It came from the middle part of the state away from the ocean. It has been completely restored with a body off restoration. The body was completely striped and resealed with epoxy primer and urethane blocking primers, then top coated with an awesome base coat clear coat paint job. Pictures don’t due total justice on how straight and nice the body and paint on this Bronco is. The floor pans and one rocker panel had some rust, thus they were all cut out and new metal was welded in. Original style floor pans with the ribs were installed. This truck has no rust on it anymore. The frame and axles were sand blasted, and recoated with epoxy primer and single stage enamel paint. No rust or rot on the frame before the blast job. The body is completely steel, no fiberglass. Even though this vehicle is in Michigan now, it has never seen a Michigan winter or road salt. It is stored inside year round.

I have honestly owned between 40-50 Early Ford Broncos in various conditions within the last 20-25 years, this one is by far one of the most solid and nicest one I have ever had. The only reason I am listing it up for sale is, I have been working on a ground-up restoration of a 1971 half cab for the last four years. I have other toys/vehicles as well and just don’t need them all anymore. I am not desperate to sell this, if it sells it sells.

The Bronco runs and drives very nice. It has had many upgrades done to it which I will explain. This Bronco has not been off-roaded or beat on, it has spend pretty much all the time on the road since restored. There is less than 3,000 miles on it since the restoration. Odometer show 60,188 miles which it thought to be original miles on the Bronco. Everything works on this vehicle, it is ready to drive and enjoy.

ENGINE:

Ford 302 cu. in. V-8, professionally rebuilt by an automotive machine shop. It has been throughly gone through including the following: balanced, hot tanked, magnafluxed, bored .030, crank shaft ground, rods reconditioned, forged pistons, hydraulic Comp Cam & lifters (have cam card), as well as new oil pump, timing chain & gears, fuel pump, water pump, rings, gaskets, and bearings. The heads have been hot tanked, magnafluxed, mild porting in the bowl area, 3-angle valve job, 1.6 ratio aluminum roller rockers, guide plates, hardened push rods, as well as new springs, retainers, locks, and seals. It has an Edelbrock performer 4-barrel aluminum intake manifold, and Edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke and kickdown lever that both work. Additional goodies on the motor include: MSD 6AL series ignition box, MSD billet aluminum distributor, Taylor 8mm plug wires, Ford Racing tall aluminum valve covers, K&N style air filter with billet aluminum housing, stainless braided dipstick tube, billet aluminum pulleys, heavy duty motor mounts, and an aftermarket harmonic dampner. The motor carries 50 psi oil pressure and runs great!

TRANSMISSION / TRANSFERCASE:

Rebuilt C-4 three speed automatic transmission done by a professional transmission shop. Thoroughly rebuilt with upgrades done to the thrust washers, pump, clutches, and valve body. Has a shift kit installed, a new (NOT rebuilt) quality torque convertor, and stainless braided dipstick tube. Also has a BC Bronco's kickdown cable kit installed on it, an Art Carr cable operated gated floor shifter, and heavy duty trans cooler.

Dana 20 gear drive transfercase was totally disassembled, cleaned, thoroughly inspected, and reassembled with all new seals and gaskets. Transfercase also has a Tom's Bronco Parts twin stick shifter on it.

AXLES / DRIVESHAFTS / STEERING

Dana 44 front axle, disc brakes, 3.54 gears, open diff., standard rotation. Ford 9” rear axle, 3.50 gears, open diff., big bearing axles, 11” diameter brakes, and heavy duty banjo housing only found on the 1977 Broncos. Both axles are pretty much stock, other than having brake pads, calipers, bearings, u-joints, ball joints, and seals replaced. Front axle has cross-drilled rotors, Warn Premium lock-out hubs, and stainless braided caliper hoses. Both driveshaft’s have been replaced with brand new (NOT rebuilt) custom made Dana-Spicer units, both with CV joints and greasable u-joints. Bronco has the factory 4-turn quick ratio Saginaw powersteering box. Tie rods have been upgraded to the much improved adjustable 3-way setup from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. There is a dropped pitman arm on the steering box also.

SUSPENSION:

A lot of money was spent on this with all James Duff components. It started with their 3.5” Ultimate suspension kit. Includes soft ride progressive rate coil springs, soft ride 11 leaf spring packs, double shocks on all four corners, front shock hoops, rear shock mounts, and urethane bushings. In addition stage 3 extended radius arms, classic traction bars, steering stabilizer w/heavy duty mount, stainless steel extended brake lines, urethane transfercase mounts, and urethane body mounts and hardware were also purchased from James Duff.

INTERIOR:

The interior has the original front buckets seats and rear bench seat that have been dyed with high quality automotive grade interior dye. There is some areas on the front buckets that show some wear on the dye, nothing terrible but its there. Driver’s has one small tear about 1” or so long, passenger’s front seat has no rips, back seat is very nice. The springs and foam in the buckets are still in good shape and sit nice. The carpet has been replaced in a dark charcoal gray color. The dash pad is not cracked or warped. No extra drill holes or anything like that on the dash. The radio needs to be wired up and also needs some speakers. The following items have all be replaced with new ones: visors, wiper cover, brushed aluminum door panels, arm rests, door cups, column cover, door straps, aluminum windshield knobs, firewall insulation, heater core, blower motor, and new headliner that is not installed yet. All gauges, speedometer, wipers, and heater controls all work good. Additional options in the interior are a center console, tinted windows, Momo Italian steering wheel, white face Luminescent instrument cluster with green or blue back lights, custom back panels, Autometer Sport Comp tach, and a Wild Horse Sport custom 6 point roll cage.

EXTERIOR:

The Bronco was painted a BMW Titanium Silver, it is a professional job done by a body shop. It is a very respectable base coat/clear coat paint job, that has been wet sanded and buffed to a very nice flat paint job that shines! It is near flawless but does have a couple very small lights scratches and a couple small chips in it, nothing terrible or big, but they are there. I'm sure with a little light buffing the scratches could be gone. There are NO dents or dings in the body. It has the factory Sport exterior trim package on it, which gives you all the chrome moldings around the windows, beltline moldings, upper door frames, rocker panels, tail lamps, marker lamps, and grille trim & letters. The following items have been replaced with brand new ones: beltline moldings, side marker light bezels, tail lamp bezels, grille letters, Bronco sport emblems, headlight bezels, tail lamps lenses, side marker lights, 302 emblems, antenna, and grille turn signal lenses. The windshield trim, side window trim, liftgate trim, upper door frame moldings, and rocker panel molding are all original that were buffed out and in nice shape. The top is painted satin black, it has not been wet sanded and buffed out like the silver paint has. Overall the top is very solid and straight, it does have a few small blemishes on it. Additional exterior features include Bushwacker fender flairs with stainless steel fasteners, James Duff heavy duty front winch mount bumper, (never had a winch on it) James Duff heavy duty rear bumper with swing out tire rack and gas can holder, and Delta Xenon H4 headlight conversion.

OTHER / MISC.:

Tires are 35 X 12.50 X 17 Pro Comp Xtreme A/Ts , mounted on 17 X 8.5 Pro Comp Series 3029 aluminum alloy wheels with the bead lock look. Engine has Hedman headers with 2- 1/2” aluminized pipe going to Flowmaster mufflers with heavy duty rubber mounts, sound very nice, not too loud but a nice rumble under load. Header are showing some paint flakes on them with some light surface rust, not rotted out and not leaking at all. Bronco has factory dual gas tanks, front tank is new as well as the fill hoses and sending units, gas gauges both work. Additional new items that were installed on the Bronco includes the following: James Duff power brake setup, axle bump stops, fan shroud, and all new weather strips & seals. There is some custom made rubber wheel well liners installed and made out of 1/4” thick rubber. The front end was put on a rack and professionally aligned by a suspension shop. There has been stainless steel fasteners used throughout the restoration. There are a couple small items that need attention but are not major issues: rear view mirror needs to be glued back on windshield, back-up lights are not hooked up, rear seat belts are not installed but included, horn doesn't work for some reason, and the turn signals don't cancel.

I have taken some time to thoroughly write this description with honesty and details to the best of my knowledge. Yes the Bronco does need a few very minor things, but nothing big or show stoppers. You could drive this Bronco home if you wish to. It has been restored, it is not totally flawless, but a very solid respectable Bronco.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Chevy revealed the 2024 Traverse with new looks, a new engine and on off-road(ish) trim. Hyundai gave us a glimpse at the wild styling of the next Santa Fe. Dodge might bring back the Stealth nameplate as an SUV, and that has implications for the Durango as well. Ford, after repeatedly raising prices, has turned around and significantly discounted the F-150 Lightning across all trims. The first Tesla Cybertruck has rolled off the line as a pre-production prototype. Finally, we reach in to the mailbag and help a listener decide what to do with cars for himself and his kids in this week's Spend My Money segment. Sunday Drive: Big debuts from the Big Apple dominated the headlines

Sun, Apr 1 2018

New York Auto Show week has come and gone, and, not surprisingly, the week's biggest bits of news came from the halls of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in NYC. Our favorite debut from New York was the Lincoln Aviator, a sharp-dresses crossover that looks lovely inside and out, and sits on underpinnings at least partly derived from the Ford Mustang. While the Aviator may have caught our attention, it wasn't the most popular vehicle debut from New York, at least when judging by the number of page views here on Autoblog. That distinction goes to the 2019 Toyota RAV4, and we're hardly surprised. The RAV4 is the most popular compact crossover in America (in fact it's the most popular vehicle that isn't a pickup truck), and the 2019 version looks like a radical departure from the model that came before. We can't wait to drive the thing. Midsize sedans may not be the darling of the family car set, that honor taken over by the aforementioned crossover, but they still sell in large enough numbers that a brand-new model catches our attention. Such is the case with the 2019 Nissan Altima. We broke down the specs of the Altima and compared Nissan's bread-and-butter sedan with its biggest rivals. And finally, we got some official figures for the 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. It'll cost a cool $12,000 over the cost of a Mustang GT, and will benefit from a 480-horsepower, 420-pound-foot version of Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8 engine. As always, stay tuned this week for all the latest automotive news that's fit to print. 2018 New York Auto Show Mega Photo Gallery | Start spreading the news 2019 Toyota RAV4 actually looks pretty cool 2019 Nissan Altima vs Honda Accord vs Toyota Camry: How they compare 2019 Mustang Bullitt orders open as Ford reveals price and horsepower Image Credit: Drew Angerer/Getty New York Auto Show Ford Lincoln Nissan Toyota Coupe Crossover SUV Sedan 2018 new york auto show
