1973 Dodge D100, long box stepside. Very original, 77,763 miles. I have owned this pickup since 2004, and have put about 8 or 9 thousand miles on it, I believe the mileage to be
original, based on the oil change sticker in the door from 1983. I bought it locally in Montana, and would guess it could have been here for 40 years, but cannot confirm that.
It was purchased by the US Government, if you look close you can see the lettering on the door. I was told it spent many years at the Belfry, MT cemetery.
Sadly, I have been unable to keep in under cover all the time these past eight years, and the paint shows this. It had always been my intention to
paint it, but didn't want it done cheaply, so I didn't do it at all. I am a fan of Dodge stepsides, and based on what I see pass thru ebay and if you ever see one parked, this is one of
the straightest, least abused you will find in unrestored condition. The seat has been recovered in original fabric from SMS, at a professional upholstery shop. I have used this pickup for
a spare runaround truck, and for when I need an open bed to move things. The bed wood is original, and has warped, but not bad for 40 years old. Over the years, I have had some carb work
done, block heater installed, new muffler, new tires (Coopers), which have good tread, but showing age. It can be cold blooded below freezing, but if plugged in, it starts fine. It runs better when
driven on a regular basis. I have all reciepts for work done, and these will be included.
The oil gets changed every year, regardless of the mileage I put on (1,000 mile average/year) All the lights work, as well as all gauges and such. It was a radio delete originally, as the radio in
it when I bought it had three holes in the area for the radio. I cut the hole out with a dremel tool, and installed a period correct AM Chrysler radio, but it does not work, just for looks. I imagine it
might work if you are handy that way. The motor sounds good, seems to burn a little oil, auto transmission works fine. Newer floormat, floor had surface rust, sprayed with a sealer, put down new
insulator carpet. The only rust thru is behind the front wheels, very common for Dodge's of this era. There is surface rust and oxidation otherwise, the pictures show all areas.
I have enjoyed this pickup a long time, and never figured I would ever sell it. But, I decided my backup should be 4WD and heavier duty, and a 1987 W250 came along, running out of room.
I would hope that another fan of Dodge stepsides will buy it, and repaint it in its original Medium Blue. It had a badly painted white bumper when I bought it, and I replaced it with a decent chrome one.
It has the original hubcaps, and even the reflectors on the rear sides, how often do you see those?! Also, this vehicle is basic, be sure this is what you want! No power steering, no A/C, just a time
machine to 1973. The gas tank is in the cab, and if it is full, there can be an odor of gas, so I don't fill it. The original tank was rusty inside, a replacement was found, cleaned, tested. Also, new fuel pump
and fuel filters, and gas lines. There a few minor dings, and scratches. Window rubber needs replaced. This vehicle is 40 years old, there is no warranty.

Cruiser's close call caught on camera
Mon, Dec 21 2015A new recruit to the Kansas Highway Patrol experienced his first brush with danger on his first day when a semi truck clipped his cruiser during a traffic stop last week. Public relations officer Tod Hileman said in a Facebook post that the incident occurred when an officer and his brand-new trainee pulled over a black Dodge Charger on I-70 in Trego County, Kansas. Hileman said in the comments that the cruiser was parked two feet away from the white line on the shoulder. Not only did the driver not get over a lane when he saw the stopped cruiser per Kansas law, he seemed to have moved closer to the side of the road. The big rig managed to send the cruiser's side mirror and spotlight flying across the road. The truck could have easily injured one of the officers, perhaps fatally. The truck driver ignored Kansas' Move Over law, which requires "drivers approaching a stationary emergency vehicle displaying flashing lights, including towing and recovery vehicles, traveling in the same direction, to vacate the lane closest if safe and possible to do so, or slow to a speed safe for road, weather, and traffic conditions." With a clear lane to his left the trucker in this case had no excuse. He stopped after the crash and was cited by the officers for failing to change lanes when he saw the stopped vehicles. Being a cop is a risky job. So far this year, 28 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty due to car accidents, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline revs into Chicago
Fri, 01 Feb 2013When Dodge released the Challenger Rallye Redline last year, it brought a new dimension of styling to the car's classic muscle car lines, but it was only available in V6 form lacking the oomph to back up its sinister appearance. To remedy that situation, Dodge is unveiling the Challenger R/T Redline, powered by a Hemi V8 engine, at the Chicago Auto Show.
Other than the extra cylinders, most of the R/T's Redline package carries over from the Rallye model including the custom-look 20-inch black chrome wheels with red paint accents, but the R/T version of the package gets more of a retro look to the side stripes with graphite graphics featuring Redline lettering. Cars equipped with the six-speed manual transmission will get a performance-tuned, low-restriction exhaust allowing the engine to produce 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque; cars with the five-speed auto are rated at 372 hp and 400 lb-ft, but they do offer a bright chrome Mopar t-handle shifter and steering wheel paddle shifters.
The R/T Redline Group is offered only on cars painted in Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Bright White and Pitch Black, and it adds just $1,995 to the MSRP of the Challenger R/T (starting at $31,990) and the Challenger R/T Plus (starting at $33,990), which adds features like Nappa leather and Boston Acoustics speakers.
Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
