THE ENGINE IS A 360 WITH 2 FOUR BARREL CARBS,EDELBROCK 600'S THE ENGINE HAS BEEN COMPLETLEY REBUILT AND RUNS VERY WELL AND IS DEPENDABLE AND THE 2 FOUR SET UP PERFORMS AND IDLES SURPRIZINGLY WELL.HOLD GOOD OIL PRESSURE,THE SPEEDO WORKS ALL THE LIGHTS WORK,HAS TURN SIGNALS,BUT ONLY IN THE REAR. THE TRUCK RUNS COOL,I IDLED IT THROUGH THE FOUTH OF JULY PARADE THIS YEAR 45 MIN LONG EVERY BODY WAS OVERHEATED BUT NOT THIS BAD BOY. ITS HAS A 727 AUTO TRANS,IT HAS A TRANS COOLER,AND A VERY LARGE BRASS TYPE RADIATOR. 8/4 REAR AXLE 294 GEARS SINGLE TRACTION,JUST A GREAT CRUISER,TURNS HEADS, PRETTY GOOD ON GAS FOR A RAT ROD. IT COULD BECOME A STREET ROD PRETTY EASY.IT HAS THE MAKINGS OF ONE.It does a killer burn out.THE FRAME IS CUSTOM MADE BY COTTONWOOD SPEED AND CHASSIS, FRONT DISC BRAKES REAR DRUM.16 INCH COKERBIAS PLY TIRES,THE REAR TIRES ARE GETTING A LITTLE SLICK, IT HAS FRONT POWER WINDOWS AND A CRANK OUT WINDSHIELD, THE CRANK OUT WINDSHIELD WORKS BUT IT DOES STICK A LITTLE,YOU GOTTA WORK WITH IT A BIT. THE REAR WINDOW DOES HAVE A SMALL CRACK,INTERIOR WORK HAS BEEN STARTED, HAS A HEADLINER DOORPANELS BUCKET SEATS ALL OF THAT HAS BEEN RECOVERED.IT HAS CARPET AS WELL.ITS MANUAL STEERING,IT SITS LOW LOOKS MEAN AND RIDES A BIT STIFF.IT DRIVES PRETTY GOOD BUT IT DOES HAVE A LITTLE PLAY IN THE STEERING.WOOD FLOOR BED,DUOLAMP TYPE CHROME TAIL LIGHTS,AND THERES A WOODEN CHEST IN THE BED FOR STORAGE. Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat
Mon, 04 Aug 2014The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?
Dodge gives 2015 Viper slight power increase, new GT model
Tue, 02 Sep 2014With its troubling sales figures, the newly rechristened SRT Dodge Viper needs to come out swinging for 2015. To do that, Dodge has made a number of tweaks and changes that will hopefully carry the V10-powered sports car into more successful days.
First up for 2015 is a new GT model, which aims to marry the reasonable price of the base car with the adjustable suspension and trick stability control program of the GTS model. The GT also sports a cabin that's covered in Alcantara suede and Nappa leather as standard.
Also new for 2015 is the SRT TA 2.0 Special Edition, which expands on last year's Viper TA by adding new aerodynamic bits and bobs, including a larger rear wing, which ups downforce at 150 miles per hour from 278 pounds to 400 pounds.
2013 Dodge Dart GT
Mon, 16 Dec 2013My younger brother bought a Dodge Dart earlier this summer. It's a basic SXT, in Maximum Steel Metallic, with the 2.0-liter engine, a six-speed automatic transmission and not a whole lot else. Unfortunately, at the time, the Dart was one of the few cars in the compact class I'd never driven. I didn't know a lot about it, and therefore, didn't have a lot to say when he bought it. I think the words "based on an Alfa," popped out when I first saw it.
As it turns out, he's grown quite fond of the dark gray sedan, so it was with some degree of enthusiasm that I paid him a visit in this bright-orange Dart GT. I was excited to see what it was about the Dart that he enjoyed so much, despite my tester featuring a different engine, transmission and a lot more tech. After a week with the car, though, I must say: I don't quite see what all the fuss is about.
