1970 Dodge Charger, General Lee Clone on 2040-cars

1970 Dodge Charger, 383 car, cloned to the General Lee (but with a 70 grill).  Overall a very good driver, drum brakes, brand new tires, glass pack exhaust exhaust gives a strong sound to the car, dixie horn works great and is loud.

Mechanical:  Transmission seals take a little bit of time to engage when you first start the car and put it into reverse.  After it "pumps up" there is no problem, just you will experience a delay on start up.  I took it to a local shop that's been around a while, they told me it's a typical problem with the seals.  Again, after about 10-20 seconds and thereafter there is no problem, just at start-up only.  Shifter looks very nice, but is a little sloppy, probably could use adjustment.  The exhaust has the short "glass pack" type mufflers on it, so it ends about 3ft after the headers.  Sounds really good, not too loud but does rumble.  A/C does not work, Radio doesn't work, I think turn signals etc work, headlights do not currently work - wiring is there so should be something easy.  Headlight door motor is in the trunk, so you manually have to lift the headlight doors.  All pretty easy stuff to fix.  Car drives great, get in and go, no bad vibrations or anything like that, solid driver car.

Paint:  Has a good shine to it, but has many  scratches here and there.  5 footer car.

Interior:  The front seats are from a '73 Charger SE, I do not have the original 70 buckets.  Everything else appears to be original in the interior.

Rust:  Car has rust in the frame in the front where the "tow hooks" would go, and in the outer torque boxes.  The patch panels for the torque boxes are $149 each, front frame just needs some metal cut to fit and weld  in.  I do not see a major issue, just typical Charger stuff.  Rear frame rails look good, I do not see any repair necessary.  Floor pans in front need replacement, someone placed the replacement pans under the carpet and I've been driving it this way in the dry Texas weather.  But to be right, it would need to be attended to.

This car gets ridiculous attention, so be prepared.  Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

I  am an honest Ebayer and expect the same from potential buyers.  My feedback is 100% and I expect to keep it that way.  International buyers are welcome, check my feedback for other vehicles I have sold worldwide.  All funds must post to my account before the car leaves my possession.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding.  Be sure to check my other auctions for a few other cars I am selling to fund my new projects (1969  Dodge Charger, 1968 Chevelle, 1969 Firebird)

2018 Dodge Durango GT Rallye gets Charger and Viper-inspired styling

Tue, Apr 10 2018

The third-generation Dodge Durango has been on sale since 2011. Essentially a long-wheelbase Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Durango's styling draws a lot of influence from cars like the Dodge Charger and Challenger. For 2018, the three-row SUV will be available with an optional GT Rallye appearance package. Think of this as a V6 model with the face from the more powerful Durango R/T. The appearance package is a $1,495 option on the mid-range Durango GT and is only available for a limited time. Like the R/T, the GT Rallye's front fascia is heavily inspired by the Dodge Charger Daytona. It ditches the standard crosshair design for a slim mesh grille, and adds a Viper-inspired hood scoop and vent. It also gets LED fog lights. The GT Rallye is available in both rear- and all-wheel drive. Customers can also add the Blacktop package and Brass Monkey wheels. Mechanically, nothing changes. The Durango GT Rallye is still powered by the 295-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. The Durango GT starts at $38,990. Related Video: Design/Style Dodge SUV

Sunday Drive: The future looks bright, and the present ain't bad, either

Sun, Oct 1 2017

A look at the week that just passed proves that Autoblog readers love looking into the future. Spy photos of the next Porsche 911 and a mysterious Dodge Demon prototype led the way last week as some of our most popular stories. A teaser from Subaru has our appetites whetted for the next WRX, and we're intrigued by the value proposition offered by the rear-wheel-drive Kia Stinger. Long-distance motorcycle tourers went gaga over leaked images of the next Honda Gold Wing. Such intense interest comes as no surprise considering that it's the standard by which all its competitors are judged, and it looks to be getting some serious new technology in its next iteration. And finally, we can't help tooting our own horn a bit. Autoblog just launched a brand-new Car Finder tool, which, after getting a few data points to work with, offers up a perfect list of vehicles for new-car buyers. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Porsche 911 to get digital interior — only the tach will be analog Spy Shots: What the devil is Dodge up to with this narrow-body Challenger Demon? Dodge unveils Special Service Durango for government fleets

Fri, 18 Oct 2013

Straight off its refresh, the Dodge Durango is slipping back into its dress blues and getting back to work. The 2014 Dodge Durango Special Service Vehicle boasts all the refinements and improvements that the refreshed, civilian-spec model received, most notably a 15-percent improvement in fuel economy.
Designed for police and fire departments, and as Chrysler's answer to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility and Chevrolet Tahoe PPV in the growing service SUV market, the Durango boasts a 600-mile range, thanks to the addition of an eight-speed automatic, available on both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Equipped with the 360-horsepower Hemi, the Durango SSV can tow up to 7,400 pounds (the V6 is limited to 6,200 pounds).
Police and fire department Durangos get a few special features over the civilian models. The electric systems are ruggedized, with a heavy duty battery and a 220-amp alternator in place, while the engine's water pump and oil cooler are both stronger. The brakes are tougher, and a load-leveling suspension has been fitted, too.
