This early collectible S30 Z is one of the nicest I've own and driven over the years. It is a previously two owner car, with the second owner having owned it since early 90s. Has original owners manual/service manuals and a stack of service records.

It has original matching numbers. It has 123K original miles since left the factory. A fresh repaint done in 2005 in factory original color, white. The mechanics are excellent. The engine runs perfect. The 4 speed original transmission shifts precisely and smooth. Recent Valve cover removal reveal healthy internal valves and engine. The ride height is original with O.E.M setup giving it a comfortable sporty, not bouncy ride. Just like the way the original designers built them from the factory. There are no shakes or rattles either from front or rear suspensions.
This car retained original headers.
Recent routine maintenance and new parts include:
- New starter motor
- New battery
- New clutch along with master and slave cyclinder
- New brakes
- New set of 4 tires ( in hard to find period correct size) bought in 11/2013
- K&N air filter plus intake
- All new high performance yellow plug wires
- New set of Spark plug (NGK)
- New burlwood shift knob
- All emblems have been restored to original with factory sets
- Oil and fluids with filters changed routinely
- New radiator and coolant
- New vintage style yellow rally fog lamps installed
- JDM Fairlady fender mirors
- New front air dam
- 432 rear tail
- Vintage period exhaust made by famous Stebro ( hard to find)
Gives car a smooth and deep but tasteful sporty sound
- New Valve cover ( painted in high temp. nissan Red )
- New valve cover gaskets

The interior is above average. The carpet shows nice with a nice vinyl leather center console showing very nicely. The seats on passenger are in very good shape. The driver seat is covered in brand new leather factory matching made Datsun seat covers. The dash is in good condition concidering the age with some minor cracks beginning to show. I have a dash cover made by manufacture that specializes in perfect fit reproduction for early Z dash molds and will come with the sale. Currently have early wood steering wheel from a 240z installed. Will have original steering wheel with car.  Original factory radio. And the radio still works perfect. Has factory A/C and heat. Although the belt to pull compressor was cut and delete from previous owner. May have to re-charge system. As an enthusiast, I have been driving without any A/C to improve HP and enjoyability. All controls and factory dash settings still there should buyer wish to restore it.

The body: The overall condition of the exterior is quite nice, considering alot of these cars have mostly rusted or rotted away. This car is beautiful and shows well. The doors shut with a solid THUMP! The car is solid and does not show any signs of any accidents. Previous owners states no previous damage and it really shows. It did have a new fresh respray paint job and although it shows well and shines up nicely after detail, it is not concourse to my concerning eyes. Of course with all early Zs there are some under surface rust but on this vehicle it appears minimal. It has been garaged mainly and enjoyed and fair climate.

This car gets alot of attention. It gets photographed alot at Vintage car events, such as Cars & Coffee and concourse d'elegance, etc..

It currently has some vintage late 60s early 70s race inspired removeable vinyl decals. I had it entered in some vintage classic car shows. It also wears some rare hard to find "432" emblems in honor of the successful early nissan factory team racers.

This is a rare opportunity to own an appreciating entry level collector classic. Values keep climbing and projected to continue to climb. Please see what Hagerty has to say about early Datsun S30 Zs.

History of the 1975-1978 Datsun 280Z

Datsun’s brilliant 240Z was really the car that its designers wanted it to be for just the first two years of its four-year run. By 1972, emission controls had started to affect drivability and by 1973, the Z was not quite the driver’s car it had originally been. The carbureted 1974 260Z, (which gave a 200 cc bump in displacement) was only a stopgap solution.

The real solution to emission laws came with the introduction of the fuel injected 280Z in 1975. The addition of a license-built Bosch L-Jetronic injection to the inline six-cylinder engine, plus a displacement increase of 200 cc, returned the Z car to roughly 1970 levels of performance. The 280Z would have performed even better had federal impact bumpers and additional equipment like air conditioning not added weight.

All things considered, however, the 280Z is much closer to the original 240 than most people realize and it’s certainly a more sporting car than the 280ZX of 1979, with which it is often confused. Aside from the big bumpers, the coupe is a direct descendant of the 240Z, with little changed in the interior except for a fully integrated and effective air conditioner which replaced the original Z’s dealer installed piece. The electronic fuel injection makes cold starts a snap and offers excellent drivability. A five-speed transmission became available in late 1977 but most 280Zs are four-speeds with the occasional automatic showing up most commonly on the stretched 2+2 model.

The earlier cars might be slightly more desirable with better colors and simpler bumpers, and often carry a slight premium in price. Plastic wheel covers were a carryover from the 240Z and 260Z with 1977 and 1978 cars receiving a nicer design. Factory alloy wheels are rare.

Any Z is a mechanically simple and robust car with good parts availability, and a lot of fun to drive. Bodies that are especially rust-prone are the Z cars Achilles heel, but high production numbers mean that there are still plenty of rust-free examples available. All of these factors help keep Datsun 280Z values in the affordable range, and make the car a great candidate for an entry-level collectible car.

The car has a free and clear title. Buyer can inspect vehicle at anytime prior to

purchase. Shipping is responsible by the buyer but I will help assist.

Additional pics can be requested and provided. Also I may be able to make a video to

serious inquirers.

Car comes with hard to find factory set of early 240z wheel cap covers included in

sale. The steel wheels were repainted in black and brand new set of chrome lug sets

giving a refreshing new look.

The factory bumpers were removed but can accompany the sell should buyer chose.

please note:  The windshield as well as all glass on vehicle are in excellent shape.

All of the gauges including fuel, temperature, tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure,

voltage meter, as well as even the clock all work and function normally.

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.

Datsun to unveil second model later this month

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Datsun, Nissan's new sub-brand for emerging markets, has announced plans to unveil its second model. Its first, the Go, was unveiled almost two months ago, and promised affordable, connected motoring for five in a handsome hatchback body. Datsun is following that up with a pair of new models for Indonesia.
The first of these two new vehicles will be shown on September 17 in Jakarta, eschewing the typical auto show debut. It's targeted at so-called "risers," the nickname for a group of highly aspirational customers in the Indonesian market. Datsun developed it locally with help from Nissan, and it'll cost under 100 million Indonesian rupiah (about $8,900 at today's rates).
We'll have the full boatload of information on the newest member of the Datsun family when it debuts on September 17. Scroll on to read the full press release from Datsun.
