Pruchased this vehicle from the original owner with the intention of helping a stepdaughter get a vehicle. She apparently didnt want it if she had to put any money into it so its now for sale.

2001 PT Cruiser, engine and transaxle have been replaced with 2007 that had a rear end collision. All Fluids have been flushed and refilled, Trans filter was replaced at this time and there is another trans filter to go with it. I like to flush, refill, drive for about 1000 miles then change the filter again and refill. Oil and filter are fresh, cooling system has been completely flushed and refilled. New brakes all the way around, new front rotors, new wheel bearings, new front calipers. Entire electrical system has been checked and there are no fault codes. The chassis has 250+k miles on it, drive train has 70 something thousand, i cant remember the exact mileage that was on it and the donor vehicle has been scrapped. Suspension was all checked and is in great condition.
It is the Touring pakage with am/fm/cassette/cd stereo upgrade, chrome rally wheel upgrade (16 inch)and overdrive trans. cloth interior in great shape, no holes or tears anywhere that i have seen. All power windows,etc..
Tires are 55 series, fronts have probably 40% wear left and rears have probably 60% left, was going to rotate the tires for longer wear but im tired of messing with it.
Things that i know of that are wrong with it:
Missing one of the hubcaps as seen in the picture,, i lost it in the shop somewhere and cant find it anywhere
every once in a while the lights that show what radio station is tuned in dont come on, radio still works fine it just doesnt show the channel
drivers side floor mat is almost worn through where your heel rests
There are parking lot dings, gravel/road dings and a little sun fading in a few places
Deer ran into the passengers side as shown in the pictures, i think the interior panels could come off and these could be popped back out with little problem but im not sure
the little support bar that goes under the rear dash is missing
Front dash has some weather cracks on the flat surface of it.

Tried setting up a dependable mechanically sound vehicle for the stepkid, it seems i wasted my time

NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.

SRT pulling Vipers out of Le Mans

Tue, Mar 25 2014

Last year, Chrysler campaigned a pair of SRT Viper GTS-Rs in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was the first time Auburn Hills had sent a team to the famous French endurance race since 2000, when the Viper ended a three-year winning streak in the GTS class. It finished in 24th and 31st places, woefully behind the Porsche 911 RSR that won the LMGTE Pro category. But this year it won't be back. According to a report from Sportscar365 citing a statement issued by SRT chief Ralph Gilles, the outfit turned down its invitation from the ACO that organizes the race, ending what could have been a multi-year campaign. Instead it's opting to focus on its Stateside campaign in the United SportsCar Championship. SRT sent Autoblog the following statement: "We regretfully and respectfully decline to participate in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans," said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. "We are honored to once again be invited by the ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) to compete in this historic event, and they were the first to be informed of our decision. We will remain focused on our North American racing program in 2014." In its place, the Ferrari 458 fielded by JMW Motorsport will be invited to fill the last slot in the class, leaving only the Corvette and Dempsey Racing entries to represent the United States in the race this year. "Hopefully, we'll continue to go to Le Mans for many years to come," as SRT's marketing chief Beth Paretta put it when announcing the effort a year ago, "but as a sports-car fan, if you can make the trip even once, it's worth it."

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
