1967 CHRYSLER NEWPORT CUSTOM 2DR. FAST TOP

383 4bbl. V8 engine
727 torqueflite automatic transmission
Black bucket seat interior with buddy seat...left one is power...right one reclines
Factory am radio with rear speaker and reverberator (echo chamber sound!)
Factory vacuum operated trunk release
Factory cruise control (not currently working)
Factory air conditioning....works good!
Factory automatic headlight dimmer
Power steering, power drum brakes

Car is in good, driver condition. Used to have a black vinyl top, but it was shredded from the sun, so it was removed and roof was painted.   Most of the paint on the car is original...only the front fender extensions and part of the left front fender are NOT original paint.  Car is a very solid, no rot , dry climate car that has spent it's life in dry Montana and Wyoming.  Only rust that I see is slight bubbling on left quarter panel above the fender skirt.  Also has rust in trunk floor on right side in the area of one of the plastic plugs.  Trunk floor is very good except for that one area and some surface rust.  Frame rails, lower quarters, floors, etc. are excellent!

Interior is presentable, and nice for the age.  Door panels, dash pad, headliner, etc. are excellent.  Rear seat cushion has one split seam, and right seat has a split seam on backrest and a couple of other small flaws.  Also, there is something wrong with the reclining mechanism of the right seat, so it leans back a little bit more than it should.

Engine seems fine...I have only driven the car around 500 miles in 4 years, so it never gets the cobwebs blown out of it...that is the main reason that I am selling..just no time to enjoy it and no inside storage for it.  It is too good of a car to let sit and go to waste!
Transmission works fine
Car drives good ...probably as good as it did in 1967
Air Cond. works...heater is bypassed so I assume that it needs a new heater core
Factory cruise does not work
Car stops, but is making a scraping sound in rear...I installed rebuilt master cylinder and brake booster. I have new brake hoses, and brake shoes that go with the car.

Has aftermarket chrome wire basket style 15 inch wheels....including spare.  I believe that these were installed early in the cars life.  I have the wire baskets, but they need a good cleaning...I left them off as I don't like the looks of them.
Tires are old, but have good tread...no cracks yet that I see, but I would recommend replacing them.

If you have any questions about the car....please feel free to ask BEFORE bidding!  Car is being sold as is with no warranty.  I would recommend trailering it, but I have driven it on 20-30 mile runs with no issues, but have never been on a long trip with it.

PAYMENT TO BE MADE AS FOLLOWS:  $500.00 DEPOSIT WITHIN 72 HOURS AFTER AUCTION ENDS. BALANCE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.
Shipping is responsibility of purchaser, but I will gladly store it for up to 6 months.

I reserve the right to cancel auction at any time up until reserve is met.  Once reserve is met, auction will continue until the end.

Marchionne completed Fiat-Chrysler deal from a Florida beach

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

Sergio Marchionne is the CEO of Fiat, which as you may have heard, has finally worked up a deal to finish acquiring the Chrysler Group after months of bargaining with the United Auto Workers and its VEBA healthcare trust, which owned just over 40 percent of the American brand. Where was Marchionne when the deal was finally hammered out? Well, not tucked away in a frigid Detroit board room until the wee hours of the morning.
Nope, one of the largest deals in automotive history was reportedly hammered out on the beach - at the home of a banker, in the Florida resort town of Vero Beach. Marchionne traveled to the home of Alain Lebec, a senior managing director at Brock Capital LLC, one of the advisory companies for the VEBA fund, where both sides met to make final arrangements in the $4.35-billion exchange. The location of the final deal, though, is nearly as remarkable as the pace with which it came about.
According to anonymous sources pinned down by Automotive News Europe, before the meeting, the two sides were meeting in Detroit as recently as December 19, which is where Fiat made one of its final revised offers. Naturally, the VEBA made a counter offer, which led Marchionne to initiate the Vero Beach meeting.

Fiat buying rest of Chrysler in $4.35 billion deal, IPO avoided

Wed, 01 Jan 2014

Chrysler will now become a wholly owned member of the Fiat family, as it's been announced that the 41.46-percent stake in the Auburn Hills, MI-based manufacturer owned by the United Auto Workers' VEBA trust fund will be sold to the Italian company. Concluding the agreement will mark the closure of a piecemeal purchase process that could have resulted in an initial public offering.
The total cost of the sale will see the VEBA healthcare trust receive $4.35 billion, $3.65 billion of which will come from Fiat. $1.75 billion of that will be cash, while an additional $1.9 billion will be part of a "special distribution." An additional $700 million will be paid over four separate installments according to reports from Automotive News Europe and USA Today, although the shares will belong to Fiat following the first payment. The deal was reportedly initially struck on Sunday (though it is just being announced today), and is being portrayed as particularly good news for Fiat and Chrysler, which have now prevented the remaining shares going to the stock market in a UAW-forced IPO.
"The unified ownership structure will now allow us to fully execute our vision of creating a global automaker that is truly unique in terms of mix of experience, perspective and know-how, a solid and open organization that will ensure all employees a challenging and rewarding environment," Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said in a statement.

Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.
